When we arrived at the hotel we were given a welcome , refreshing drink and cold flannel to freshen up. We arrived early but were asvised that ourroom would be ready by 12 and were invited to have a late breakfast.
Our room was very nice but because we had only paid for a superior room ( the cheapest) our balcony looked onto a building site which was very close. The hotel waz full and tbey were unable to chznge our room on request so we tended not to use the balcony ehich wasn't a problem as the hotel was superbly situated right on the beach.
The room was clean, the towels and bedding were changed every couple of days and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We slept well as the builders didn't start any noisy work until 9am.
The breakfast was very good but perhaps a bit repetitive. The pool area was beautiful but the grounds are quite small. The beach is really lovely and we liked the fact that there were no sunbeds and parasols allowed at that end of the beach in front of the hotel.
It was a 15 minute walk along the beach to the town or a 200 baht taxi ride. There were many restaurants to choose from in the town and so we never had an evening meal at the hotel which did appear to be quite pricey.
The guests seemed to be mainly Eastern Europeans or Scandinavians. There were very few British.
We kayaked to a lovely little bach further up the coast but could only reserve the kayak for an hour at a time so were unable to stay a on that beach. It would have been nice to have been able to have the kyak for 2-3 hours and then we could have explored further.
We have to mention Koy who mainly worked around the restaurant. She was very friendly and extremely helpful at all times and was an asset to the hotel team.

We are halfway through a weeklong stay and have to say, so far, so good.

We’ve been reading the reviews leading up to this trip so we had some idea of what to expect.

We booked an Ocean view room to avoid being near the construction; confirmed via email that this was indeed the case, and got what we booked. The room fits a king and a single bed (for our child), and the washroom has enough room, complementary bottles of water every day, and we called down for anything extra we needed, like conditioner, shower caps, face towels, etc. there aren’t any drawers, so we placed our items in the side table cubbies.

The pool is a decent size with a kiddie section & borrowable water toys. Yes, there is saving of loungers going on, but you don’t have to get up indecently early to do so. And people cycle through the loungers.

And the construction next door is going on, but as noted, ensuring a booking of an ocean view room would make that issue non applicable.

The beach is really nice, gentle warm waves. There are no loungers but there is this inflatable lounger you can borrow from the hotel or you can purchase one from one of the beach vendors. Or just use your hotel towel.

Food & drink at the hotel is ok, but with the sales tax & tip added on, it adds up. And the prices are north-American or more once those extras are added in. I.e. a watermelon slushy drink = $7 CAD. But if you want the convenience and food cleanliness then I guess that’s the trade off. A 2 min walk away there are food vendors who cook on the beach in temporary structures. And a 10-15 min walk away there are beachside restaurants that cost in-between the food vendors & the hotel. I.e. 1 rotisserie chicken, 2 beers, 3 non-alcoholic drinks, 1 fries = $40 CAD.

The breakfast buffet is great! Lots of N. American (eggs, bacon, pancakes, omelettes) , Asian (congee), European choices (cold cuts, yogurt).

Dear Ice88,

Thank you for taking the time to write into TripAdvisor.

It is pleasing to read that there are many highlights during your current stay, our location being right on the beach and the “great breakfast” at Soul Kitchen; we put a lot of energy into making sure the selection and variety are good, it is nice to share your feedback with the team thank you.

The service charge and VAT you highlight are the same at all hotels in Phuket with the later being a government dictated fee, however we take your comment heartedly on board and we are looking into how to communicate this with our guests better, so thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Wishing you a lovely stay ahead,

Kind regards

This is our fourth stay at Novotel Kamala beach, since 2014 and sadly probably our last. Our little corner of paradise has been lost, thanks mainly to the large clubs that have opened next door. During our 8 day stay we were kept awake after 2:30am on 4 separate nights because of the music, more specific the base. I completely accept that it’s not the Novotel’s fault and there is very little that they can do, but I suspect over time as the club becomes more established it will get worse. This kind of establishment belongs in Patong and is the very reason we stopped staying in Patong, this will ruin what made Kamala special.

As per our previous stays at the Novotel Kamala beach we booked three villas, which are fantastic. The villas have amazing views and the hotel was the usual high standard that has brought us back year after year. The staff are really pleasant and helpful, the rooms cleaned everyday, the Thai food in the soul kitchen is really good and of course the happy hour(s) in the pool and on the roof are ideal for watching the sunset.

Dear Tonlol,

Thank you for taking the time to give us such a detailed feedback from your recent stay at Novotel Phuket Kamala Beach.

We can only apologize for the beach clubs located further down the beach and the music they played, we are continually working with the owners to minimalize the noise and we have been reassured by the operational team that this will not continue. We are just sorry it impacted your night sleep.

In light of this, it is pleasing to read that there were some highlights during your stay such as our amazing villas or “pleasant and helpful staff”, they will be thrilled to hear your praise!

We are looking forward to welcome you back again soon

Best regards

Gorgeous hotel. Nice to relax by the pool and looking at the ocean. Delicious food at their restaurant. Went with Affordable Asia staff. Easy access to downtown on a Tuk tuk or taxi. You can easily walk to shops from the hotel walking on the beach. I highly recommend it.

Dear Luz D,

We would like to warmly thank you for your 5 star review regarding your recent stay at Novotel Phuket Kamala Beach.

Many of our guests do prefer the resorts location in the quieter area of Kamala Beach, while with a 10 minutes stroll you are in the Kamala town where you can find many restaurants and shops as you rightfully mentioned.

I'll pass on your compliments regarding our restaurant, it will make the F&B team very proud, we put a lot of effort in to the dining experience and they will be thrilled to see the hard work is paying off.

We can only hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you again very soon.

Yours sincerely,
