Our purpose was to visit Taiwan and experience the culture. We booked via hotel website which gave us the best value and even an early bird special. All accommodation comes with free breakfast. All arrangements were very prompt and all our requirements such as keeping our luggage during our 5 day Taiwan tour and even every tiny inquiry we had :)We received a map and all travel info how to get there.
Reception staff spoke English really well and was very professional. They did their job really well. There are so many brochures at the foyer including local maps. When ever we asked reception staff highlighted the place on map and even wrote it down on a card in Mandarin for the taxi.( Always carry a hotel card with you if you are using taxi or in case you get lost)
Inside the hotel is very modern. They even offer free afternoon tea with cakes, cookies and etc--
We were upgraded to a corner suite on 10th floor. It was very neat, clean and very modern. You'll love the toilet. They clean the room everyday. Ladies who clean are so sweet and helpful. Make sure to hang "do not disturb" sign if you are inside. No sign at cleaning time- room is their's. They don't knock or ring the bell to make sure :)They replace everything each day. There is coffee, tea (two different kind) with kettle.
Breakfast is a nice spread and no one would go hungry. We've been to four, 5 * hotels in Taiwan and comparing to their breakfast buffets, Ambience does a great job.
Wifi is free and has great reception even in the room.
We didn't spend much time in the room apart from one day I got sick.
We walked to nearest MTR and you'll find a big electronics mall along the way. Taxi to night market cost us NT$175 to go and NT$125 to get back. Nearest department store NT$75. We took Eva air bus to Evergreen Laurel Hotel. Cost us NT$150 each. Then you can either walk or take a taxi. We love walking so most places are walking distance for us.If you like walking keep the road map with you. There are so many roads specially in the night you can get lost. We did few times. Sun is really hot around mid day and calms down around 2pm and it's dark by 5pm. Walking people start early or after 2pm or take a taxi.Overall we had a pleasant stay and I would stay at Ambience again .
Now there are things to improve -
*Staff is professional but not friendly. There is no connection. They just do their job that's it. It would be more homely if they are a bit friendly.
*No one to assist with your luggage. We had to do two trips up and down to take our own luggage to our rooms and bring them down.
*Pillows are not comfortable. They are huge.
* Toilet gets really hot during the day and I had to put a wet towel on my head.
*Take your milk from 7/11 or something and keep it in minibar and they only have herbal tea.
* Location is not very convenient but not too bad. Wish they have a shuttle bus to places like MTR to take the trains,Evergreen Laurel Hotel for Air port pick ups and drop offs, nearest department store or something to make it more convenient and attractive for the guests.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for five nights. From the moment we stepped in we loved the placed as it definitely had a certain 'ambience'. The staff at the reception were cheerful, warm and very efficient, it took us barely two minutes to be registered and we were off to our rooms with the electronic key. Ours was a standard room on the 10th floor and it was a modern room, a perfect size in immaculate condition. The room was well-lit with two large windows. We had a TV, Mini-Fridge, a Music System. The bathroom was well designed with a square wash basin, a shower stall, everything worked like a charm. The toiletries were ample with shampoo, body wash, conditioner, skin lotion and a lovely bar of Jasmine soap! We were supplied with free bottles of water everyday. There was a laundry machine and dryer on our floor with a box of detergent too. So they have really taken care of many needs of the independent travelers. If I have one complaint, then it is the weak and unstable Wi-Fi network in our room, but the Supervisor was very gracious as she came to check the signal strength in our room and said she would bring up the issue with the management. However, the Wi-Fi is very strong in the Lobby of the hotel.

Our room also came with a sumptous buffet-style free breakfast which was delicious. The breakfast tables were loaded with bread, croissants, eggs, jam, hash browns, ham, sausages and an array of local dishes of shrimp dumplings, noodles, rice, soups and a platter of fresh fruits like papaya, melon, watermelon and pineapple.

This hotel is a treat in every respect, MRT Shandao Temple stop is a mere 12 minute walk away, a taxi will take you for the bare minimum of NT70 or NT80, and they are plentiful. There are plenty of seafood restaurants on this road at very low prices. Be careful when you dont see a price on the menu! We were taken for a ride in a small restaurant on a alley next to the Family Mart convenience store near our hotel where they charged us NT$750 for a small crab!
My first visit to Taiwan and I loved it. The people of Taiwan are very friendly and go out of their way to help you find your way. Taipei is also a foodie paradise if you know where to go, do your homework before you leave. The food court at Taipei 101 and fancy restaurants at ATT FUN near 101 were wonderful, especially a Szechuan Restaurant called South Beauty. There is a free shuttle bus to Taipei 101 from the City Hall MRT.

On the last day, we had a pleasant surprise as we headed to our breakfast table. There was a great violinist playing for the guests, a repertoire of classical, and jazz tunes. This was a great touch and a beautiful way to end our stay at the Ambience.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the highway and a higher floor.

My stay at the ambience hotel was warm welcoming and delightful which were made special by the staff who- where attentive and knowledgeable with Taipei city and the local area. My girlfriend and I are both foodies and it definitely helped that the staff knew excatly where to recommend us to head for the right direction.

The rooms are spacious with plenty of natural lighting and ambient lighting dotted all over the rooms. I particularly like the bathroom and you will be in for a nice surprise when you use the Japanese style loo. Maid service is daily however of the 3 nights we stayed we only needed our rooms cleaned once.

There is ultra fast free wifi at the hotel rooms which has has stable and reliable connection. For those without laptops there are computers to use free of charge at the hotel lobby.

Ambience hotel is definitely one of the best hotels in Asia that I have stayed in and I must thank "Lisa and Amber" for making our stay so personal. I would definitely book again at this hotel in the future and recommended my friends and family.

From the moment you arrive the staff make you feel so welcome. They are so friendly and polite it is unbelievable. The room is great. Very comfortable and clean and nicely designed. The hotel is also quite convenient and there are lots of wonderful smelling chinese restaurants around the area to tempt you. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel most highly.

A bit about the hotel:
The rooms were spotless, the bed was comfortable, the TV big with lots of channels including CNN, and the bathrooms had a bathtub and rain shower, 25mins away walk to Taipei Station, breakfast has a great variety of western food and chinese, also you are allowed to bring food upstairs since the cafeteria is small, and friendly staff that spoke good english. Only issue we had was the AC vents was making loud noises like a metal in the vent was loose. In all, I was happy with this hotel.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noise, pick a room that does not face the highway.
