We stayed for Wednesday a night here in early April. I had great expectations as the reviews are good however the cons outweigh the pros for us.
Pros: competitive pricing for a room
Very good steak in Setanta Restaurant
Cons: tatty and tired decor in many areas, especially the Kells Bar and in the bedroom- the hotel needs refurbishment.
First impression was bad, given a filthy glass. I had to ask twice for a clean glass. When we arrived at our room, there were still food leftovers beside our door, really off putting. No view whatsoever
At breakfast we were seated in a strange area where we had to keep crossing over and back through the concierge area, this was awkward and we kept bumping into incoming diners. The chap who greeted us at breakfast was rude: “we”ll have to put ‘em over there”. Used bowls/plates were cleared.
We just felt the whole breakfast experience was unpleasant.
On 2 occasions, the staff served us after others, despite clearly being top of the queue.
Finally, the Caesar salad in Setanta was not good.
This hotel could be great but service and decor need vast improvement.More
