I've just come back from my honeymoon here. I read a few mixed reviews before my trip and thought I'd try and give an objective perspective..... overall I agree with the previous review.

Overall we had a great time, but there are certainly a few things that can be improved. My wife and I are 29 year-olds who like a bit of class, good service, great food and a break from London where we live. We got the second two but the service was patchy and there was something a little bit contrived about aspects of the island (e.g. the waistcoats and false bow-ties the waiters wear in the eveings!!)..... Take heed of the word RESORT in the title of this island - it might give you more of an insight to life here. Anyway....

1. Not all the cottages are the same - we spent our first night in one surrounded by high bushes with NO view at all (cottage no.16). It took a couple of attempts to get the office to move us, but when we did, we got a great cottage half way up a hill with good views (no. 20).

2. The food is good. The problem is getting it to you if you choose not to eat in the central pavillion (and lets face it you come here to eat on the beach or on your veranda, or on the top of the hill......), any meal that has sat for 10-15 minutes under a steel dome is not going to be quite as good when it gets to you. The comments about mix-ups with breakfast are very true, but if you can shrug this off and have apple instead of orange juice or pancakes instead of waffles then don't let this put you off. If you aren't a 'foodie' person then you'll probably find most of the meals very enjoyable - we really do love our food and can see room for improvement, but ate a lot of meals in the pavillion or on the covered tables outside and did really enjoy them. If you want to eat at the top of the hill under the stars, as we did, just choose meals that suit sitting for a few minutes (e.g. steak, not fish) - we had a great meal couriered up to this spot for us (including table chairs, laterns etc).

The bbq's on the beach (one lunch and one dinner a week) are good.

3.With the flag system, yo do have to think about the where you'll be eating the next meal pretty much straight away.

4. This is the perfect place to relax and ignore the world. No question. Great beaches and sailing etc.

5. The staff were mixed. Some were extremely friendly. No one was every rude or anything like that, but many seemed to be weary and tired of guests and some just waited tables etc as zombies, responding to words of thanks etc with the uniform, 'you're welcome'! Not the best to make one feel welcome and at home.

6. Rooms (as is the rest of the island facilities) are traditional caribbean style, and the beds are only queens size, although you do get two of them!

7. The bed turn-down service do constantly leave our screens open, so we took to leaving our red flag up when we went to dinner! No real hassle.

IN SUMMARY: This is a lovely island, but also a resort. Read all the reviews and decide if the relaxed/passive attitude to service, and imperfections in the food will matter to you. If not, then this may well be a great place for you. Then call them and discuss the cottage locations, in particular the view and the seclusion and the distance to other things on the island.

Once we'd move cottages we really enjoyed the island - mainly the seclusion and sun. This place just isn't a very slick operation, things happen at a caribbean pace and without that little 'je ne sais quoi'...
