There was definitely tension in the air when we were shown to our table for dinner. Something seemed to be bothering our waitress because her assistance with the menu and wine-list was quite curt. The cause of the tension became clear during our meal, which was well-prepared and ample. We especially recommend the Antipasto misto, for a delicious variety of local specialties.

However, from time to time we would hear the head waitress publicly making crtical and sarcastic remarks her fellow waiter's work. We had never experienced such behaviour before. Unfortunately, it made it difficult to relax and enjoy our dinner at La Cantinetta.

The restaurant was full when we got there, so we circled the town and came back. Still full, but the owner then quickly came out, grabbed us and gave us a table where the reservees hadn't shown up. We ordered all antipasti's. It was very busy, but when the antipasti eventually came, it was great. The egg yolk ravioli (which came late - but they compensated by giving us an extra ravioli) and carne druda was especially good! Then we had a black truffel risotto, cooked to perfection. After having paid, we asked for the number to a taxi. They tried calling it but got no answer. The owner then said to follow him, and then he actually drove us home himself. What in the world!!!??? I have never experienced anything like this - absolutely amazing service!

A nice location but we found the food disappointing given the standard of food we have come to expect in Italy. The antipasti was good but the pasta and meat main were all poor in our opinion. Service was also average after we waited 5 minutes to attract attention and get seated, always a stressful time with 2 year old twins!

They do have a great wine list with an extensive range of Barolo as you'd expect.

We ate here last night having read previous trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed and the waiter was friendly and helpful, recommending good local wines to go with our meal (in English). The menu is small but all the better for it as every dish we had was delicious and often of the region. Between us, we feasted on pate, pasta ragu, ravioli, risotto and lamb chops (the latter were the best we've ever eaten). We were even given a pannacotta to share despite refusing dessert. If you are in the area, GO! The food is reasonably priced for the quality and in comparison to other restaurants nearby. I could not recommend it highly enough.

We stumbled upon this place while walking through the streets of Barolo a Sunday afternoon. We were quickly shown a table outside and the place filled up shortly after. We shared an antipasti and each had a delicious primi - risotto and ravioli. Amazing taste and good portion sizes. A glass of house wine (white) to go with it was just perfect. Great place in Barolo with outstanding food.
