Lusty Beg...where memories are made. Set in a beautiful location Lusty Beg is superb location to unwind, relax and watch the world go by. Staying in one of the islands chalet`s with a view overlooking the marina and being able to enjoy the bar and restaurant being only a few footsteps away. The activities put on by the islands staff were enjoyed by all. The swimming pool and sauna were are great addition open to residents.I can only thank the staff for a great time and without be critical some attention could be given to the heating which was overpowering at times but im sure is much need in winter and the noisy boiler outside our window ensured an early morning wake up call.

Room Tip: Chalet number 9 offered a great view of the islands marina.

Just back from the wonderful island of Lusty Beg.We stayed there(2 adults and 2 girls 10,12) in one of the lodges, very comfortable and spacious, with incredible views of the lake, its so peaceful and tranquil, the scenery is amazing.During the week they organise activities such canoeing, archery, raft building (for residents) ,great fun for the whole family and the organised activities are even FREE which really makes it great value. The island also has a bar and a very good restaurant, the staff on the island are very helpful and friendly.Lusty Beg is one of the best holiday locations in Ireland.
We will d be going back next year for sure.

Room Tip: Great restaurant, but you will probably need to book a table.

We are a family of 4 with 2 young boys. We stayed there for a week.
While the island and surrounding scenery are beautiful, the "supposed to be 4 stars" lodges might disapoint anyone who is actually used to 4 stars properties:

_no door between living room and kitchen, leaving all cooking odours wander freely in the house...

_very basic, old, and noisy dishwasher and washing machine, no tumble dryer (one would rather do something else than hanging clothes when on holiday)

_only one shower for 6 persons, and it is either very hot or very cold: we showered in the swimming-pool facilities for a week

_ black screen of 2 to 3 minutes on TV everytime one attempts to change the channel

_the activities one can see on the website photos (banana-boat, jet-ski,catamaran) are not available, as those equipments are privately owned by tourists

We dropped in while driving through the area having regularly visited over the years. While only wanting a drink we were very disappointed at the service. Well, to describe it as service was questionable! We gave up on the drinks and left. Understaffed, or mismanaged, a combination of both one tends to think. A great pity we had wonderful memories over the years

We cannot recommend Lusty Beg highly enough! A beautiful bay setting for the accommodation which consists of chalets, lodges and individual rooms all with parking facilities and lovely native (unspoiled) forest walks around the island. There is a daily programme of activities for residents to participate in as families or individuals. These include archery and raft building for example. There is also a well kept swimming pool, tennis court and football area and canoes are available to allow you to get out onto the lough. The bar/restaurant is welcoming, friendly, efficient and family friendly. The food is excellent and includes locally sourced ingredients including meats and fish. There are also some lovely vegetarian options available. There is also a weekly pub quiz which is great fun for all the family and which is geared to that audience!
The accommodation is excellent -clean, comfortable and well appointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly and a pleasure to meet. Nothing is a problem for them!
We cannot understand why there are negative comments on this site but on reading them they seem petty. Cobwebs - vaulted ceilings, not much to do and power cuts are not legitimate cause to criticise. My advice to those complaining is to have the guts to tell the staff is there is a problem while you are there - or just ask for advice. Not much point in rubbishing a place afterwards!
Well done everyone at Lusty Beg! The island gets better every year!!!!

My fianceé and I had a lovely two day break in Lusty Beg with the groupon deal. Please don't pay any attention to the negative reviews on here, there is no pleasing some people. The location is so tranquil and beautiful. We stayed in the rooms which were lovely, spacious and very clean.

There is loads of activities to do, my partner and I went off road driving which we througherly enjoyed and our guide Mark was really friendly and good craic. We also canoed around the island all free off charge and it was a wonderful way of exploring the surroundings. The pool was nice for a dip, little nippy when you first get in but you soon adjust to the temperature.

The food was beautiful and was delivered to the table really quickly, the staff were really friendly and very helpful. The cocktails were lovely even if we did drink one to many. There is loads for the kids to do and the atmosphere on the island is so peaceful.

The breakfast was lovely in the morning, with plenty of choice and its even served up to 10.30am giving you a little lay in if you have had one to many cocktails the night before.

Over all this is a fantastic little island and we were so sad to have to leave, two days was just not enough. We now plan to get married here and cannot wait to get back.
