White sand, shallow clear water, colorful sea cucumbers everywhere! We really enjoyed our afternoon at this beach, and the bicycle ride to arrive at it. The only downside was that the washrooms were flooding when we were there and were unusable.
I spent a day biking and beaching on Taketomi and it could not have been better. A short ferry ride from Ishigaki, it is the perfect size to spend a day wandering around. This beach is the crown jewel - large, gorgeous, perfect water, sandbars, and facilities to rinse off.
An absolutely stunning beach. I'm not sure whether it would make sense for one to travel to Taketomi Island specifically to visit this beach (seeing there are some good ones on Ishigaki Island as well), but if you're on Taketomi Island anyways, it definitely makes sense to visit. The crystal clear water plus the shallow gradient of the beach definitely made for a pleasant 'strolling' experience.
The above notwithstanding, don't expect a 'usual' beach experience since the shallow nature makes swimming difficult (and there weren't any vendors selling snacks, drinks, or usual beach comforts)
This beach is gorgeous, the water turquoise, the sand fine and everything, but the water is too shallow to go for a dip. Great experience nonetheless.
It was a very windy day on Taketomi. The main pet of the beach was windy however we walked around the beach to another part which was sheltered from the wind and enjoyed a swim. it’s well worth a trip over from Ishigaki.
This is an uncrowded magnificent beach, one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, with stunning aqua colored water due to the coral covered ocean floor, with the water barely coming up to your waist for 50 meters from the shore. It is a short scenic bicycle ride from the Hoshinoya resort. There are bathrooms and showers available, but no restaurants except for a food truck.
