The little streets get a little crowded around 6 pm, when tourists flock to the different yakitori restaurants. But it's still worth the while because you can't find anything like this in all of Tokyo. A must if you like Street food.

We came here on our first evening, after reading that it was one of the good places to visit. For sure, you get a real Japanese experience, and there are some very small but cute places to eat and drink. We went to one place for a Beer which was 500 Yen each. When we went to leave, we were given our bill which included a seating charge of 700yen per person. Which we were not told about / neither was there any signs before coming in. Still a good experience but jus watch out, or check before going in anywhere.

Yakitori fans! You may want to check this place out when in Shinjuku. This place has rows and rows of awesome yakitori. Just go to any random store and you will not be disappointed.

Quoting The Japan Travel Guide, "“Omoide-yokochō: Since the postwar days, smoke has been billowing night and day from the rickety, wooden yakitori stalls that line this alley by the train tracks, literally translated as ‘Memory Lane’ (and less politely known as Shonben-yokochō, or ‘Piss Alley’). Several stalls have English menus.” (Excerpt From: Lonely Planet. “Japan Travel Guide)

This is somewhere to visit late at night when you need some simple food to go with some drinks. It is atmospheric, picture-postcard perfect, great for photos, memorable.

This is where people come to experience izakaya dining There are over 60 cramped little bars & eateries in this alleyway & it comes to life every evening post work when people come to enjoy sake, beer, fresh seafood & grilled dishes.

This is a very popular instagram spot in Tokyo. Omoide Yokocha is the place to eat mouthwatering grilled skewers. Also known as Memory Lane since it is one of the only areas in Shinjuku that still has old look, style & feel in contrast to the ultra modern Tokyo.

Please note each has to order 1 Food Item +1 Drink compulsory + 400 yen tax per head.
