Super friendly hotel ideal with walking in the Dolomites

Review of Hotel Venezia
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 2, 2024via mobile
We stayed at this hotel as part of a trip to the Dolomites for a walking holiday. It is ideally situated for many walks into the mountains without the need to use expensive cable cars/chair lifts. The rooms have lovely views over the mountains and we enjoyed some freshly cooked meals with local ingredients. Rocco the owner was very helpful showing us the best places to walk and the lovely staff were helpful with anything we needed and happy to chat.

The Albergo Venezia is situated right by the bus stops on the Rolle Pass, so is great for making trips to San Martino, Rosetta ski-lift etc. it is also just across the road from a great walk to Colbricon, and on to San Martino. There is a 15 minute shuttle bus from the Rolle pass car park up to the Baita Segantini and the outstandingly beautiful Val Venegia, or you can walk up from just behind the hotel. Our room at the hotel was spacious, clean and comfortable and had a beautiful large balcony with deck chairs provided. The ensuite bathroom was well fitted-out and clean. The staff, and proprietor Signor Zeni, couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Delicious and varied breakfasts and evening meals are served in the dining room with wine available, included in the price, for guests to help themselves!

Room tip: Ski school lessons are offered just over the road and equipment can be hired as well.

We stayed here during our hiking trip in the Dolomites. The room is spacious, has big balcony with clothes rack. Good size bathroom. It's very clean. We had good night sleep.

We took half-board package, so we had dinner and breakfast in the hotel. Food can be improved.

We stayed here in Dec 2016, for a family ski holiday.
The room was a bit outdated but comfortable, very clean and plenty of hot water.
Even though there'd been no snow, for the first time in 40 years, coaches were put on to nearby ski slopes and ski hire was arranged at very fair prices.
Food was delicious and varied. Although we did laugh at some of the English translations!
The New Years dinner, quiz and disco was fantastic and we had a great night.
Fantastic holiday made special by all the family running the hotel.

Rocco the owner and all of his staff made our group (4 families) feel so welcome - everything had been thought about, all of the equipment was fitted properly so that we could ski as soon as possible
We booked an extra lesson on the Sunday which was well worth it, then we had Lidia and also Rocco as our instructors during the week which was brilliant - our children had never put skiis on before and by the end of the week they were happily going down red runs!

Being able to ski straight off a blue run back to the hotel made such a difference we were able to get lots of skiing in. Even though the runs on the other side of the road were closed Rocco organised for us to go to San Martino and also Bellamonte, both of which fantastic for all abilities.

The hotel was immaculate and felt very cosy (all rooms cleaned every day) with the staff always happy to help. The food (and wine!) was amazing with at least 5 choices for each course which meant our group were all catered for, even with some picky children

The attention to detail was very high, even down to the slalom race at the end of the week which Rocco filmed and then showed as part of the presentation evening on the Friday night, with a podium and awards !

We visited Hotel Venezia thanks to a recommendation from a friend and the hotel certainly lived up to the reviews on Tripadvisor and the recommendation from our friend.

Our experience was fantastic, right from the first email correspondence with Fedrica all the way through to our final day. We understand that some guests have been coming back to the hotel for over 30 years. From the first minute we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and a "part of the family". Rocco (the owner) personally arranged ski gear hire for us and even helped to kit us out and make sure we had the right boots and skis. He also checked in with us daily to make sure everything was alright. We only speak English, but this wasn't a problem at all, thanks to Fedrica, other guests and Google translate. Our ski instructor, Lidia, was phenomenal. She took care of our children for 2 hours a day for 4 days and at the end of this time (second time skiers) they were skiing with great confidence. There's a lot more we could write.
