I had a great time visiting the Artesanias jewelry store with a group tour. It's really amazing to see what these four women are doing to make a living. They make and sell "seed" jewelry while giving back to the community. The seeds are collected by young children and the women pay them in school supplies.
I highly recommend this for anyone (especially large groups) visiting the Matagalpa area - the women were so hospitable and willing to share their stories with us. We each had the chance to make our own jewelry piece and shop around the store. There were so many beautiful pieces that I couldn't resist and I ended bringing several back as souvenirs for friends!
