I visit here semi regularly and have always been very happy with lunch. Ploughman's is very good, soup always tasty and coffee cake delicious.

I took my grandmother here today. Fantastic museum and lovely tea room. Great tea and coffee with brilliant service from Nicole and Martha who were both very helpful.

An astonishing restoration project. The mill, left to rack and ruin, was brought back to life by a couple's dedication. Plenty to see over three floors. Costumes from various eras are interesting (how petite women were in the 1800s!) while the story of farming in this corner of Ayrshire is brought to life by a superb range of artefacts. Star of the show, however, is the operational mill wheel and working machinery. The mill has a cafe, which we didn't sample. Riverbank a birdlife haven. Homeware also on sale at an adjacent separate outlet. Don't neglect to stroke the friendly mill cat!

The mill is well worth a visit. The museum holds a lovely collection of clothes from the past as well as the story of how the mill was used and it's renovation. There are lovely walks around the mill. The tea room does light lunches and beautiful home made soups and cakes. The only drawback is entry to the museum and all purchases must be done with cash.
