Owner description: Arch which requires a 4.2 mile hike through challenging terrain.

The trail through Devil's Garden gets you to Double O Arch. There is a bit of mild exposure and a little elevation gain as you walk along the tops of fins with drop offs on either side of the trail. The trail is interesting and you can visit a few other arches along the way. It was busy but it was still worth the effort to se Double O Arch and the surrounding scenery.

But seeing them in person beats photos. The hike can be a challenge from parking lot, but bring water.

My husband and I did this hike on a hot day in June. We started at 8:15 with temps around 80. By the time we finished at 12:30 it was 98 degrees. We underestimated the difficulty and time required to do this hike. We stopped at several of the arches along the way to Double O. Landscape Arch is amazing. Past Landscape Arch the hike gets tough as you scramble up rocks/fins with high drop offs on either side. This is not a hike for small children or people who are afraid of heights. It is also poorly marked and very difficult to follow the trail as there are no blazes and few markings and signs. It would be easy to get lost on this hike. That said, after about 2 hours we thought we saw Double O. It didn't seem very impressive because we were looking at the wrong arches! No one near us seemed to be able to find Double O and the park ranger we asked just said "you just passed it". Well, after getting to the bottom at the end of the hike after looking at another person's pics of Double O it occurred to us that we completely missed this arch. How frustrating and disappointing. They really need better trail markings for this hike. We found one woman who was lost and out of water on the 98 degree day we did this hike. The NPS needs to remark this trail with signs or blazes.

We hiked the entire Devil's Garden Loop returning via the Primitive Trail. Double O Arch was our lunch point, since we were able to find shade in the area. My least favorite arch on the Devil's Garden Loop but definitely still worth seeing and the section of the hike to get there between Landscape Arch and Double O arch was my favorite part of the hike.

First things first, Devil's Garden Trail is not the easiest. So make sure you have enough water and that you are in good shape. There is a bit of climbing, and some rock scrambling. The trail is not so defined too, so you'll have to know how to do some navigating.

Double O Arch is the point where many people turn back, it's worth the trek though, you see many amazing views on the way as well.
