Review of Upheaval Dome

Even though I am very out-of-shape and over 60 the very short .8 mile rt trip to the first overlook was only slightly strenous. It was a busy trail though and if you have hiking poles they will help on almost any trail in the Utah area if for nothing but steady support while dodging other hikers!

The view of the Upheaval Dome is slightly disappointing since the dome is a bit hard to see but we enjoyed the view of the surrounding area.

Easy hike to the first overlook but we felt it was a bit challenging to make it to the second overlook. It required a bit of rock scrambling and you hike over a very rocky, unlevel path. You have to like hiking, I think, to make it to the second overlook. There is one point on the trail that is steep and narrow and not for people who are afraid of heights. All in all a great hike!

The Upheaval Dome has nice colours, but I didn't think that it was impressive enough to walk past the first viewpoint.
The second viewpoint had a closer view but wasn't that exciting.

It was fun to learn how this entire area was formed. I think they are still determining what caused it. I like the impact theory. Nice hike back up in to this place, really enjoyed it. No shade.

This is a moderate trail to the overlooks of the dome that is worth your time. There are several panoramic views along the way also.
