We went down to Plateau point, once you've got to Indian Gardens it's just a couple more miles but flat so very easy. You get good views of the Colorado river from there. If we'd got there 3 hours earlier we could have gone all the way down but you don't want to get caught in the dark there so that's as far as we could get. Totally awesome hike, you don't get many like those in your life so if you go to Grand Canyon this one has to be in your to do list. (Ps. Only for advanced hikers)

We started our hike around 9am. The views and the early light hitting the canyon were just magnificent. We walked down about 1.8 miles (according to my GPS) to the rest stop. My 7 year old and I turned around while the older boys (11 and 13) continued on for another .5 miles with my husband. It was definitely a steep hike, and my daughter required many many stops on the way back, but luckily it was still very cool. I can imagine it would be grueling in the heat. The trail was extremely well maintained and plenty wide-enough, so if you are a parent worrying about your child falling off an edge, it shouldn't be a big worry :) One of the highlights of our trip!! One suggestion - bring your trekking poles!

Can’t say enough about how our trip to the canyon. We went on lots of trails and to many lookouts but haven’t even scratched the surface.

Not a bad view on this trail! Hiked it as part of a backpacking trip between our two campsites. I will be back!

This is an amazing experience, but it is a difficult trail if you are not an experienced hiker. If you are a novice, do not go past the first 1.5 mile marker. The climb back up is strenuous.
