“Best family vacation ever! Great place in and of itself and great home base for exploring the area.”

The location is within easy access from Flagstaff and in close proximity to so many activities, including for families. The house itself is spacious and well-appointed while being so comfortable you'll feel right at home. The setting couldn't be better with fabulous views of the mountains. We missed a booking opportunity last year while doing our research in late December. Within days it was already taken and for good reason. This year we booked early and are so glad we did. The owner has anticipated what most people might need and then so much more. His tips, maps, and thorough instructions helped to make our vacation relaxing while making the most of our time here. The house itself boasts essentially anything you might need/want: quality knives (a rare find in a rental property in my experience), a kitchen a cook appreciates, comforts (extra throw blankets, extra paper goods), art/craft area with supplies, board games, a wide variety of books, and outdoor gear (flashlights, backpacks, hiking poles). The bonus area with musical instruments was also a high point for our kids. They loved it and told us they want to live there. Last, the owner's attention to detail also helps smooth both arrival and departure making for such easy transitions. Great, great stay. Book early!

“Perfect!”

The Mountain Star is an amazing place with spectacular views all around. The house is very thoughtfully designed and totally relaxing. Although you could just spend all your time here, it is conveniently located close to the Grand Canyon South Rim, Sedona, Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monument. A wildfire while we visited closed Highway 180 which increased travel time to the Grand Canyon, but seeing the mountain on fire and the firefighting activities was fascinating and did not disturb the tranquility of this special place. The night sky was more beautiful than any place I have ever been. We spent 3 weeks touring the southwest and this was our favorite of all the places we stayed. Thanks Rob for sharing your house; hopefully we can visit again sometime.

“Great Stay at the Mountain Star”

My friends and I, five of us total, stayed at the Mountain Star this past May for our spring vacation. We had a wonderful time and the owner was very accommodating, providing everything we needed for our stay. He greets you in person and is a great resource with various tips on different places to visit. The views of Humphreys Peak are amazing and the location is perfect for star gazing at night.

The Mountain Star has a great central location with respect to all the various day trips you can take. During our short stay, my friends and I were able to check out the Grand Canyon, Lava River Cave, Meteor Crater, the Petrified Forest, Sedona, and of course Flagstaff.

Highly recommend the Mountain Star for your stay in Arizona.

Thanks so much Rob!

“Couldn't ask for anything more”
Reviewed April 20, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

After a long flight and 5 hour car journey we were greeted with relaxing music and warm welcome messages. Rob made sure our stay is as comfortable as possible and provided lots of extras with thought and consideration. The view from the sitting room and kitchen was an amazing sight each day and we couldn't take enough photos, particularly when the sun was rising and setting and the moon and stars at night. Its a great central position particularly for the grand canyon, words cannot express how amazing that was, and we packed in a lot of hiking, thanks to Rob for providing us with excellent maps and information,as to where to go and what to do. We had such a good time, Rob provided a great insider knowledge to the area and we had a better holiday for it. I would highly recommend The Mountain Star, it was our best holiday by far!

“Absolutely stunning. Will definitely be back!”
Reviewed April 17, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

The Mountain Star has a certain magic to it that words can't justify. From the drive to the property offering small hints of what the local area will unfold in the coming days, to the ambience of the music and lighting greeting you as you enter The Mountain Star's doors - this is a property that ticks the boxes for every type of traveler.

Rob was an amazing host, with every detail positioned with thought and purpose. The home was inviting, the backdrop stunning - a true treasure.

We will be back, but next time we will spend at least 1 week.

Thank you Rob :)

“Perfect place to get away”

The rental was fantastic. It's perfectly located 30 min from Flagstaff, and about an hour from the South Rim of the Canyon. Rob was super professional throughout, and just a genuinely nice guy, who seemed engaged in making sure you had a good experience. The location is gorgeous, quiet, and comfortable. It was great for an outside campfire, and coming in from the cold to relax, put some tunes on (the whole house has speakers) and enjoy some solitude.
