You had to start at 2 AM in the morning to get to Haleakala to see the sunrise at the peak. It was windy, cold, and cloudy but our guide and driver, “Magic Dave” was there to help make the experience worthwhile by pointing out where to position yourself for the best view or to stay warm. Skyline Hawaii also provided warm jacket, pants shell, and mittens to keep you warm. Magic Dave added nuance to the trip by giving us information about the Hawaii language, the cultural believes. Great trip overall. Will do other trips with Skyline Hawaii!

Although we had clouds and no sunrise, Skyline Hawaii is an excellent tour company. They provide their customers with coats and pants to stay warm at the summit. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, making frequent photo stops, and offered to take group shots with lower elevation scenery as background. The breakfast at the lodge was excellent and the lodge had a beautiful garden walk.

If you are planning on booking a tour to Haleakala, go with this tour company, and hope to get Carlos as your tour guide!
This is the only tour company, that I know of, which suits you up with a jacket and windbreaker pants which is extremely necessary 10,023 feet up at 5:30 am! Also, we were the first ones to arrive which meant we had best pickings of where to stand to get the best sunrise views! We walked up a little trail and sat on the lava rocks while waiting. It was so beautiful the way the different colors of the morning light bounced around the inside of the crater. Make sure you bring a good camera or you will definitely regret it! If you have a red filter to add to your camera make sure to do that on a few photos, and you will be blown away!
Carlos, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the crater, Hawaiian folklore, and best places to eat around the island. Also, he has a great sense of humor that will keep you chuckling.
This is definitely a tour worth checking out which will be remembered for a lifetime!

Just got back from the sunrise tour facilitated by Skyline Hawaii (#skylinehawaii, #haleakalatours) and we loved it! Dave our tour guide is the best! He always emphasized safety and provided a lot of information regarding the Hawaiian phrases, culture, endemic flora and fauna and most importantly where to position yourself to best capture the beauty and majesty of the rising sun. We had the perfect viewing spot and Mother nature blessed us with a spectacular light show. The Hawaiian chant in the background while the sun is rising made the experience spiritual.

Will definitely come back and do it again when the boys are older. Thanks Dave for making the experience special. Aloha and Mahalo!!
