Did the drive on the north shore and south shore roads, saw a lot of wildlife including a Cougar which is very unusual. Enjoyed the hikes that was availbe to go on.

Really informative and friendly ranger station. Well marked trails and another place to sit in the tranquil beauty of a natural forest.

We stopped at the Quinault Ranger Station before venturing out and it was well worth the effort. The rangers provided maps to dog-friendly trails, gave us lots of tips about what we might see, and showed us a pet-friendly trail along the lake that also included nice views of the beautiful old lodge.
There are several pet-friendly loop trails that start just across the street from the ranger station and are easy to moderate in length and altitude gain. The park was almost empty, even though we visited on the day after Labor Day and had expected to encounter many others seeking out Nature.
There was some smoke in the air from Canadian wildfires, but steady breezes soon cleared out the forest and views of the lake.

This part of the park is a little of a drive through tall trees and a winding road. View of the river and forest but not a lot of developed trails. You will see the oldest living Spruce here. The trail is easy to access and wheelchair friendly. The tree is huge and a 1000 years old.
