Picked the lodge because it is right inside the park boundaries. Stayed in one of the cabins. It was just right size wise but had problems with the heater and the gas logs. We reported it but were told that they were old and in the process of being upgraded. The restaurant was ok. If you get something see that it is made there. I got the Salmon which was made somewhere else and I think frozen and then nuked. That is what it tasted like anyway. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Location, location, location makes the Zion Park Lodge the best place to stay if you want easy access to hiking trails and a room with views of the canyon. The lodge suites with a separate living room are truly spacious and worth booking a year ahead. Do try though to not get booked into the building next to the parking lot where the tour busses load and unload...unless you like to listen to motors idling most of the day and into the early evening. The suite's bathroom was small but the room did come with two vanity areas with sinks outside the bathroom.

The lodge's restaurant is nice looking but there were problems with the food during our stay. Our friends' coconut shrimp was so overcooked it was practically cremated. Two black lumps sitting on the plate. The waitress did offer to bring them another entree after they complained. My food was fine, nothing special but okay for the price. When we went back there for breakfast the next morning my husband asked for fruit instead of hash browns with his egg. The waitress said "no problem" and brought him...hash browns with his eggs. The next night we tried Parallel Eighty-Eight in Springdale for dinner. What a world of difference! Our food was so good that we immediately booked ourselves for another dinner there the next night. We ate outside on the patio both nites (this was in early October). The drive from Zion Lodge at night is dark but not long to Springdale.

Room Tip: Go for the lodge suites in the building that is closest to the cabins; ask to face the canyon walls...

We hoped to have a peaceful and relaxing evening in an incredible setting and we did. We stayed in a room in one of the 2 story buildings, a short walk from the main lodge. The paths are dimly lit so there is an abundance of stars. The staff in the Lodge and restaurant were all friendly. Food was good at the restaurant but not a large dinner menu. Remember to make a dinner reservation in advance. Plentiful breakfast buffet. Large gift shop onsite. Lots of “friendly” deer all around in the twilight hours.

We planned a one day trip away from the strip to take in Zion National Park and were not disappointed. It's a beautiful and easy 2.5-3 hour drive from Las Vegas. The Lodge is in a great location in the middle of the park. Even if you're only there for one night you can get some of the easy or moderate hikes in with starting points right across the road from the hotel. We stayed in a King suite - the room was great with a separate sitting area and a small balcony. It is somewhat rustic, but clean and well maintained. I was most surprised by the quality of the hotel restaurant - the food was great and they even had some local microbrewery beers on tap. Next time we'll plan on staying more than 1 night!

We have visited Zion on the busy summer months and the much quieter months. We prefer to go during December and stay in one of their authentic log cabins which have recently been restored and renovated. They all have small covered front porches, fireplaces and hardwood floors. They provide a lot more privacy than the lodge. Sheets and towels are soft. The cabins have plenty of space. Most importantly the cabins enhance your stay by allowing you to be closer to the wildlife especially during the slow months in winter. It's not unusual to wake up early and see deer wandering between the cabins or spot a fox behind a tree. It has now become our december tradition to fly from Florida to spend quiet time in the Zion Lodge cabins.

It is great to stay in the park itself although there seems to be very acceptable lodging in the town of Springdale. A friend and I stayed in a cabin and were very pleased with it. It was easy to walk to the main lodge for meals. The lodge staff and restaurant servers were great. We had spectacular views as we were right in the canyon. My cell phone reception wasn't good but the internet was fine. Late October is a good time to visit the park because there are fewer people.

There is nothing like waking up to the beauty of a National Park and going to bed with the sun setting over the canyon walls. The accommodations themselves are functional. Nothing special about the room itself. The main restaurant is okay for dinner and a good breakfast buffet. Although we did spend some time exploring restaurants and shops in Springdale it is very handy to be able to leave the car at the lodge parking lot and use the shuttle service around the park for our hikes.

Room Tip: Rooms facing west have a better view. We like the 2nd floor although there is no elevator.
