If you are feeling fit and up for a bit of a challenge this is a superb hike. Less busy than Angels Landing, and higher - with binoculars you can look down on hikers on the Angels Landing Trail.
Quite a varied hike with a couple of switchback sections and a couple of more level sections, including a shaded canyon section about 1/3 of way up.

The panoramic was spectacular. We started early in the day. Temps were in the 80's, but scattered rain showers were always a possibility.

I have been to Zion NP twice. This is my favourite hike in all seasons. It is relatively easy for the moderately fit and takes about 6 hours round trip. Bring a sandwich for lunch at observation point and you will never forget your al fresco dining experience!

Cheaters? Maybe. Smarter? Of Course. Clearly marked on most Zion maps is the short and level alternative that leads right to OP. Drive in from the East on N Fork County Road to Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort. Hop on their hiker shuttle to the trailhead if you don't have a 4 wheeler. 60 minutes later at brisk pace you'll be at the same spectacular overlook as the huffers & puffers. If time is a premium or your knees just can't handle the long route- this has to be the most helpful advice to experiencing the best view in Zion. Your selfie will have a biggest smile knowing you'll also have the quickest trip back!

My husband and I are not hikers. We had to borrow a friend's backpack from home just to bring with us to Zion! We arrived by shuttle to the Weeping Rock stop to begin are climb to Observation Point a bit nervous....but excited. Up we went...switchback, after switchback until we reached a short slot canyon where we could catch our breathe. We stopped frequently to take photos of the flowers, cacti and all the rock formations. In the slot canyon it was eerily quiet...no wind or sound. Very cool! After that short reprieve back to the switchbacks...up and up. What made the hike especially fun was the comments of all the people coming down. They were very encouraging...although 1.5 hours into the hike someone said "You are 1/2 way there". We almost died! When we finally did reach the top it was all worth while. Amazing, amazing view! Going down was easier, but tough on the shins and knees. All in all it took us about 5.5 hours. The only disappointing thing was the lack of wildlife. Maybe wrong time of year, but only saw lizards, chipmunks and one deer. Did love all the native flowers.
