We had lunch on two occations.. both were very good.. we can recommend the lamb shanks and mint lamb tjops.. dessert also very good. A little pricy.. above avarage but worth it. Did not sleep over but had a look at the accommodation and was impressed

After passing several times before we decided to stay here on our recent trip and enjoyed it very much. A very warm and friendly reception. A large and nice room also usable for self catering. The antic Wardrobe offered limited storage for clothes. WiFi as often in South Africa a bit slow. A big surprise was the Restaurant. It offers a good breakfast but comes to it's prime when having dinner. It was simply delicious and fortunately it offers not only the ZA standard dishes. It's nicely and cozy decorated. Only comment from our side, the plastic chairs don't fit to the interior style and more importantly, they provided during the whole dinner a cold B&B (back & butt). We will be back for sure.

Comfortable and stylish. Comfy beds. New, fluffy towels, Setting lovely - in the orange river vineyards. Very kindly waited up for us after a night drive at Augrabies. Enjoyed the dinner. Convenient to Augrabies Falls.

We come to this region since 2000, we love the Northern Cape.
Kakamas as wine area is developing rapidly. Orange River Winery is still for sale, their chenin blanc and pinotage for less than 2.3€ is unbelievable. Augrabies as tourist attraction looks so much better, the maintenance with a Total Make-over is great. The maintenance of the main road in Kakamas should be discussed, money is badly needed.
Vergelegen is expanding rapidly since we booked there almost 20 years ago. Ownership is still the same.
Rooms are excellent, maintenance good, matrasses excellent.
Their cheesecake and Coffee very good. The booking rate very good, prices very reasonable 80€ per room
Some points need to be mentioned
1 Flags at entrance Too old, buy new ones
2 Energy saving light bulbs in rooms terrible White light, replace asap by Warm White LEDs , 5x2,5€=12,5€ per room investment.
3 breakfast Some finishing touch please, fruit cutted with the same knife as with the onions (?),shortage of meat,Bread too old, give proper coffee, the same as you serve during the day.
Five years ago the breakfast and their service was much better.
Otherwise the place is still the best in the region, the maintenance of the rooms and the buildings is otherwise great.
So Some action is necessary, you can do better.

Stayed for a night at Vergelegen, rooms are very nice and have a high comfort level with high pressure shower and warm water. Staff in reception and restaurant are friendly and polite. We had a light dinner and got the feeling the food was a bit tasteless and overpriced for what it was.

Overall we where happy, there is also a very nice garden with a large duckpond surrounded with benches to relax on.

Room tip: We got room 11 and it does have some traffic outside as the pathway to the restaurant and bar is next to the door.
