I would like to thank crown beach for an amazing stay it made my holiday!

it can be hard to find places on the Internet by looking at photos but i can honestly say the crown lived up to all the gorgeous photos you see on their page

The grounds as well as my room was beautiful and the more you looked around the more you could see their attention to detail, it was so clean and tidy the gardens and waters and sand perfect.

The thing I was most impressed with was their high standard of service. Nothing was a problem! They are so welcoming, helpful and friendly

I feel so lucky to have stayed at the crown beach (more so after looking at other resorts and their poor service)

Thank you once again, on future trips i will not stay anywhere other then Crown Beach, so see you all soon :)

I was disappointed to read DWD347's poor review as our experience was quite different. The great service started from when we arrived to find that because our previously booked 2 bedroom villa was unavailable (being renovated we think) we had been upgraded to a beachfront villa for ourselves and a poolside for our two children (21 and 22 years)The beachfront villas are to die for - spacious luxury units right on the sand with gorgeous views. That was the start of 6 wonderful days at an awesome resort where nothing was too much trouble. We ate at Oceans and Tang and found the food great, and of course we loved the cocktails hours! My daughter and I also loved our complimentary massages - probably one of the best I've had. Thanks Crown Beach staff for a very enjoyable relaxing holiday. Glenda

Room Tip: Beach front villas are probably worth the extra money

Kia Orana Glenda,

Thank you for your kind words about your recent stay at Crown Beach Resort & Spa.

We are pleased to read that you loved your Beachfront Spa Villa and that your adult-children enjoyed their private space in a One Bedroom Villa. You are quite right, our 2-Bedroom Villas are being refitted with brand new bathroom and kitchen and refurbished in our new palette featuring hues of beige, cream and white. The new look villas will be beautiful. We cant wait.

We are pleased to read that you loved your meals at Oceans Restaurant on the waterfront with Pacific Rim cuisine; as well as Tang Tapas featuring tasty offerings from Madrid. Our third restaurant, the award-winning Windjammer Restaurant, provides high-end cuisine at prices that wont break the bank.

Our daily Happy Hour program at Oceans Bar offers three sessions: 12noon, 4pm and 9.30pm - where you buy one get one free - is a great way to meet other guests, sip on an exotic cocktail and watch another glorious sunset.

Spa Ariki features fantastic massages and wellness therapies that are designed to revive your overworked body, mind and soul.

Last but definitely not least, our team of Cook Islanders ooze the art of hospitality with service straight from the heart: Warm. Unpretentious. Island Style.

We hope to see you again, soon.

Would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family members. Staff very helpful and informative. Even though we chose the cheaper option in the way of accommodation we where only one set of bungalows back from the beach front so had a view through to the sunsets and the passing migrating whales.

We are pleased to read that you loved your One Bedroom Villa, located one block away from our Beachfront Spa Villas, with fabulous vistas of the blue pacific; the whales breaching just beyond the reef; and the worlds best sunsets.

We had a wonderful time in Rarotonga, we visit often and have stayed at numerous resorts. We arrived with high expectations, as we had paid more to stay at a 4.5 star resort. Unfortunately we were disappointed to find it delivered less than previous 3.5 star resorts we have stayed at (also in Rarotonga). We found Crown Beach to over promise and under perform.
This was very apparent in relation to 2 of their 3 restaurants. Oceans was poor compared to other restaurants. Breakfast service was very rushed and staff walked passed the buffet numerous times and paid no attention to empty juice dispensers or platters. It was only when guests pointed this out did it get replenished. Lunch was very inconsistent. I ordered the same meal twice, first time it was good second time it appeared and tasted completely different. Also a lot of the staff at Oceans seemed like they didn't want to be there! Tang Tapas - what a waste of time - it was closed 2 days a week then they had a wedding function at least another 2 nights of the same week. It appeared more of an add on than a restaurant.
Our room was clean tidy and well serviced. Turn down service only happened 4 nights out of our 7 night stay. Despite inquiring/prompting at reception.
The beach was nice, however there seemed to be a lot of broken glass on the beach, WEAR JANDALS!
Happy hour was great; on the downside all cocktails were at least half full of ice!! Also staff seemed to congregate around the beach smoking in a clearly designated non smoking area. Other customers complained about this frequently.
Crown Beach is a nice resort - however we would recommend that there are other resorts on the island - offering the same (if not better services) for half the price.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

Kia Orana,

Thank you for your constructive feedback on your recent stay at Crown Beach Resort & Spa.

Firstly, we are pleased to read that you found no fault with your villa, and that you found it to be 'clean & tidy and well serviced'.

Our turn down service with frangipani blooms and romance candles operates daily between 6.30-8.30pm. The team will not turn down your room if you have a 'do not disturb' sign outside your villa. Our team have been trained to 'keep clear' of any villa / suite with the DND sign to ensure your privacy.

Our happy hour program operates 3 times a day 12noon, 4pm and 9.30pm offering a 'buy 1 get 1 free' drink service. We are the only resort in the Cook Islands to offer this special and this is why we attract a large number of guests from other resorts, as well as local residents.

Ice is a personal choice. Guests prefer lots of ice to chill drinks to combat Rarotonga's hot & humid temperature. If you prefer less ice, simply ask the team and they will ensure this happens. Simple.

Broken glass is regularly washed up on the beaches at high tide. Our beaches are combed every morning to remove glass, rocks and other rubbish. Tides change over time throughout the day and new refuse is washed up, and removed the next morning.

Smoking is now relegated to tables on the beach, away from the Oceans dining room. We are monitoring our public areas to ensure non-smoking guests are provided a comfortable smoke-less space.

Our complimentary breakfast service featuring a continental buffet PLUS a cooked breakfast option is busy and items do run out from time to time, which are topped up within 3-5 minutes. Our breakfast service staff do keep an eye on the buffet and they discreetly request top ups from the kitchen (you may not have seen or heard this).

Staff - we have 85 staff at the resort and we maintain a very high 'job happiness' rating - so much so that staff from other resorts have applied to join our team. Our rates of pay, staff benefits, training programs, career planning and general working environment are considered one of the best in the Cook Islands. New guests, repeat guests and local patrons rave about our hospitality & service. I am sorry to read that you did not receive a good dose of our much talked about hospitality delivered from the heart: Warm. Unpretentious. Island Style.

Tang Tapas Lounge is hugely popular for private events and is a favourite location for cocktail parties, birthday parties and weddings. Tang Tapas is open daily except Mon and Thu, as most guests attend our world famous Island Feast & Cultural Show at Oceans Restaurant or try out our beautiful cuisine at the award-winning Windjammer Restaurant.

All in all, we are sorry we did not meet your high expectations. We hope you find a resort that best meets your budget and holiday needs to ensure you continue to holiday on beautiful Rarotonga.

Best wishes,

Rohan Ellis

In scheduling a business conference in Australia, I decided, on a whim, to fly home through Rarotonga and booked four days at Crown Beach. Villa six is a lovely one-bedroom suite, right on the beach, next to Ocean's Bar and Restaurant. Situated on the western side of the island, the sunsets are just wonderful to watch.

I believe that this villa is scheduled for some jacuzzi maintenance, among other things, which will make it all the more beautiful.

If you love to watch weddings, villa six provides a front-seat view. It is quite an education to watch the hotel wedding staff prepare the romantic wedding venue on the beach.

The staff at Crown Beach are so friendly and attentive, providing service that consistently exceeds expectations. The little things in life are what means the most and I believe that Crown Beach excels in this area. From turning down the bed at night, to delivering martinis to my hammock on the beach, to making sure that my arrival and departure to and from the hotel were perfectly timed.

My compliments to the chef at Ocean's Restaurant and Bar who makes a mean omelette and delicious Ika Mata.

Windjammer Restaurant has a world-class menu that is exceptional.

From the moment I arrived to the night that I left, I was treated in such a gracious and superior manner. I have travelled to may far-off places in my life, but Crown Beach on Rarotonga is the only destination to which I have any intention of returning.

Four days on Rarotonga was definitely not enough. I would suggest a week or longer for a visit to this beautiful island.

Kia Orana Cindy,

Thank you for your kind words about your recent stay at Crown Beach Resort & Spa.

We are sooo pleased you made a snap decision to return home via Rarotonga, albeit, for 4 glorious days!

We are pleased to read that you loved your Beachfront Spa Villa # 6, which will soon be renovated and transformed into a 2 Bedroom Beachfront Pool Villa, complete with a brand new interior featuring two king four poster bedrooms with luxurious flowing fabrics, a swish twin bathroom featuring porcelain & crystal, a modern integrated kitchen/laundry, and a plunge pool with adjoining waterfall. The visual aesthetics that we propose to our villas should position our small resort to become, arguably, the finest in the Cook Islands. All renovations are scheduled for completion by the 31st March 2012.

We are pleased to read that you loved our genuine hospitality presented to you by young Cook Islanders who deliver straight from the heart: Warm. Unpretentious. Island Style.

Thank you for your vote of confidence in our cuisine. A simple omelette or ika mata, prepared well, can make all the difference to your day. We are pleased to read that you loved the beatiful cuisine at Windjammer Restaurant.

We are also pleased to read that you will return to stay with us. We cant wait to see you again, soon.

Best wishes,
