This lovely building has all that is needed to be a fantastic boutique hotel. But the owners are favouring weddings and events over hotel guests. The chef is great but we had to struggle to get through the wedding party to get to the restaurant. As a result only two tables were occupied in the restaurant and a couple were turned away. The meal was super but there was no atmosphere. A family birthday lunch party took over the hotel on the Sunday. That evening we returned to an entirely empty building. And yet our room was nice and the staff (very few much of the time) were nice and worked hard. Events should be moved to the existing restaurant and kept out of the hotel area unless of course a wedding party book the whole hotel. Breakfast was disappointing and only one staff member is there to refill a limited buffet. Focus on making this a success as a hotel or it will fade away.

Room Tip: Check whether a function is planned as it will spoil your stay

My wife and I were married at Shadow Lawn and we were lucky enough to have a room there the night of the wedding as well. First, the room: beautiful! A wonderful ensuite bathroom was accompanied by an expansive room with tasteful decoration and a comfortable bed. We were very pleased. As for the wedding itself, staff was exceptional and helpful in every way (even performing a last minute fix on a wedding dress) and ensured that every detail was taken care of. Cannot say enough good things.

Our extended family stayed here for a wedding off site. It was the perfect time place to socialize and as a base for local sightseeing. It is a bit tired but the friendly young staff were very helpful. There is no elevator to the rooms which are all on the 2nd floor so ask for help for your luggage if necessary. The eating area is quaint but the fare is continental for breakfast. However, lots of options in the area. Our room was small including the bathroom but we expected that in keeping with this historic gem. Beds comfortable.

We stayed as guests at the Shadow Lawn inn this past week. We had an amazing stay the staff was friendly and accommodating as we were a last min booking and arrived late in the evening. Awesome sleep, very quite and peaceful. Completely satisfied with our time at the Inn and would highly recommend this as a place to stay anytime in Rothesay New Brunswick .

Room Tip: we stayed in suite 4

Enjoyed our 3 night stay in this beautiful inn. It is a historic home that has been well maintained. Our room was spacious and it was spotless! The continental breakfast offered smoked salmon, cheeses, and delicious fresh fruit in addition to the usual fare. This will be our go to place to stay when visiting the area.

We visited here while on a recent trip to New Brunswick. This hotel was a highlight of the trip. Beautiful old house with a neat history.

We were greeted by Natasha when we arrived and were shown around and up to our room. She gave us her cell phone number in case we had any issues. We had the hotel to ourselves.

The breakfast the nice morning was referred to us a continental breakfast but it was very elegant with silver service and included smoked salmon, cereal, fruit, pastries with jelly.

We had booked through one of the booking services and the rate quoted, which we had accepted, was significantly higher. Natasha apologized and gave us a much lower rate - they did not have to do that and we would have been none the wiser!!

I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone coming this way!!

On our way to Moncton we decided to pull off the highway for dinner. Luckily for us, we came across the restaurant at the Shadow Lawn Inn. Having had a hefty day's travel and looking longingly at another diner's glass of red wine, we decided to see if we could stay the night here instead. Unfortunately they were fully booked, but the beautiful Natasha rang around for us to find other accommodation. Our meal was superb and we decided we'd try stay on our way back to Maine, an idea unfortunately foiled by a flat tyre en route. Highly recommend for food and friendliness.
