“A lovely house for a relaxing holiday in a great location”
Reviewed 15 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

You enter this house through a very ordinary door on a very ordinary street in an ordinary little village but the house itself is gorgeous. Lots of space, airy and light and all kept up very well and beautifully clean. Kitchen was a delight to cook and dine in - well equipped. The garden was great to relax in - especially by candle light in the evenings. Very comfortable lounge with great selection of DVDs and a TV with lots of British channels. Super comfy beds and a superb bathroom with lots of big towels.
Leran itself is a sleepy little place but it has a daily market (except Mondays) with fresh baked bread and other products. There is also a nice little restaurant. Highlight of our trip was Friday night food market when trestle tables lined the streets and food stalls selling a wide range of delicious products "popped up" while a band played on a podium at the end of the street - magical! No idea how regular an event this is but we loved it.
Leran is conveniently located for swimming in Lac Montbel and visiting around the region - Foix, Montsegur etc. You will need a car though.
Would thoroughly recommend this house - we hope to be back!

“Perfect location for relaxation”
Reviewed 20 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We loved this amazing village house from the moment we walked in - beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you could need, especially the kitchen. We were very comfortable and relaxed completely. The secret garden was an added bonus, wonderful for eating out in, or just relaxing after a busy day.
Leran was a perfect location for us, quiet and peaceful, and the beautiful Lac Montbel only a good walk away. There were many other interesting places to visit within a short drive. A pity the boulangerie in the village was not open, but the small daily market hall had a small selection of bread/pastries, as long as you got there early!

“Lovely house with beautiful garden and excellent kitchen.”
Reviewed 19 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Susan's house is in the heart of the village and is a peaceful and beautifully decorated residence. The garden is a quiet sun trap and the bedrooms all of a high standard. The bathroom has a great shower and separate bath. Highly recommended.

“What a delight!”

This is a beautifully equipped and kept house. The kitchen is very well equipped and we really enjoyed the two bottles of wine the owner left for us.

The house is quiet and the secret garden is large enough to catch the sun throughout the day. We were there in the Spring so shade wasn't an issue but there would be shade even on the hottest Summer day.

The owner left details of walks you could enjoy locally. The situation is near perfect not to far to Carcassonne for a day vista to the North and close to wonderful drives and walks in the Pyrenees to the South. In April you can see the Snow capped mountains from the village of Leran.

One visitor commented on the sound of the church bells, they ae not loud and you can't hear them at all with the windows closed. The birds in the garden, including the many cuckoos, made much more noise!

The house was perfect for our needs (family with 3 teenagers) as we explored this part of southern France. The garden is lovely and peaceful, the rooms comfortable and clean, and the kitchen quite well-equipped (we even did a fair amount of baking!) Leran is tiny but charming, and all around there are pleasant towns to explore. Highly recommended!

“Beautiful, highly recommended gite and garden”

We stayed at the Maison du Jardin Secret in June and cannot praise this lovely gite too highly. The owner has tastefully furnished the house with real style yet it remains homely and welcoming. The gite is superbly equipt with everything we could possibly need including WIFI and has a smashing shower. We found it an excellant base for visiting local markets and villages and, of course, Mirepoix, Carcassonne and the Cathar Castles. Le Jardin Secret really is a secret garden and a real delight to sit and relax in. We give this gite full marks and heartily recommend it

“Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in the Garden!”

This is really a perfectly, pleasant hideaway! From the outside the home is unassuming yet charming in a soft yellow, walk inside and it opens beautifully! The reception is very comfortable with a lovely fireplace, the kitchen and dining area is not only functional but clearly designed by someone who loves to cook! Just when you think the dining area is going to be the best part of the house, you see the magical garden! The bakery that's just a few steps outside the door is the perfect way to start the day and dinner in the private garden is the perfect way to close it! Our time at La Maison du Jardin Secret was charming and we look forward to a return visit!
