“Stylish and very homely.”
Reviewed February 10, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

We stayed in Bay Tree Barn on the weekend of 7th - 9th Feb. We were looking forward to a relaxing and peaceful weekend after a stressful start to the new year and thats what we got.
Unfortunately the weather from start to finish threw all the elements at us, rain, hail, thunder and lightning non stop therefore we did not have the chance to take in this beautiful area or go on any of the walks.

When we arrived we were met by Nikki who showed us to the cottage and gave us info needed for our stay.
The cottage was warm, compact and very welcoming with some lovely touches, like pretty
bunting in the bedroom and some little heart ornaments and plants. The lamps in the main bedroom were on making it all very warm and comforting.

we had a wonderful meal cooked by Nikki on friday night and the stuffed mushrooms and
sticky toffee pudding would put Gordon Ramsey to shame!!!

All to soon our weekend was over - hope we can return for longer in September. Have recommended the barns to my colleagues.

We spent a wonderful week in the Tree Barn. Very cozy and roomy for our family of four. Rustic feel but with modern amenities set in a wonderful area of rolling hills where lots of sheep are grazing peacefully. Nikki and Jason are really nice, very accommodating and helpful with whatever you need. Minor issues that came up were quickly resolved. Superb communication too. Highly recommended.

Thank you Adi. Really glad you enjoyed your stay with us and 1st trip to Wales. Sometimes things happen that are out of our control and a power surge blowing the BT hub leaving you with no internet is one of those very things! In situations like these we always act immediately and in this case we were able to resolve it by offering our own satellite broadband for your use until BT sent a new hub. We wanted to thank you for your amazing write up on us in the US online magazine you write for/contribute to. That is priceless and the photos are fabulous. Many thanks indeed for this, and for your permission for us to use them.

“Excellent stay - Highly recommended 5*”
Reviewed November 25, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

We booked this trip last minute and Nikki was particularly helpful in sending the information etc prior to our stay and also confirming the booking promptly.
We were greeted with a warm welcome on the evening we arrived and Nikki explained the different walks and pubs etc in the area.
The barn itself is extremely cosy (We stayed in the haybarn). It had all the home comforts you require. The views are fantastic and it really is a beautiful place of peace and tranquility. We took our 2 dogs with us who had a little secure garden at the front for them to exercise and go to the toilet which was great.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and would also recommend the dog friendly black lion pub. The food was good and also the walks around there are lovely,
We live in the welsh countryside anyway but still enjoyed the stay here. For people who live in the city I can imagine this would be such a fantastic way to relax.
Our barn did run out of gas o sunday morning but a quick text to Nikki and it was sorted within 5 minutes.. Great service. The gas issue wasn't normal it was something to do with the way it had been set up incorrectly by the delivery drivers.
The only slight downside was that we could hear our guests next door on the first night but they did have 3 very large dogs and seemed to be making a lot more noise than normal on their arrival.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brechfa barns and hope to return very soon,
Highly recommend for a pure relaxation holiday.I have stayed in places where there are strict rules and you feel you are being watched. Here you feel truly welcomed.
Thanks Nikki ~& Jason x

“ABSOLUTELY AWESOME PLACE FOR US & OUR DOG”
Reviewed November 23, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

We found this on eBay and the barn we stayed in was everything we could wish for. The views from the barn are to Die for and the walks from your doorstep into the forest are amazing. Nikki & Jason (your Hosts) could not be more helpful & a credit to them for making their two barn properties so accommodating for your dogs. We will definitely return .

“Wonderful Dog Friendly Accommodation in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed November 22, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

We really enjoyed our stay in Brechfa Forest Barns (Baytree Barn), after struggling to find accommodation that would allow us to stay with our 3 large dogs we stumbled upon Nikki's barn on a google search, it was easy to book, she even called us back to confirm dates as she had another enquiry for the same weekend, we had business in the area so were only staying for two nights but really wished we could have stayed longer, Nikki sorted out our arrival despite it being very late, and we were greeted by wonderful clean warm accommodation. Lovely lounge, stunning kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, Everything we needed was provided. Dogs were happy, we couldn't let them off in the garden as the fence was low but this cant be helped as its a rural area, but we were fine walking them on their leads. Forest walks are close by and we managed a very nice walk on the Sunday. We are supposed to be coming back to the area early next year and would not hesitate to book Nikki's accommodation again.

So glad you enjoyed yourselves and are planning to return :). For anyone reading this review our fences are approx. 3.5ft high and are pig-wired. We decided on this height so as not to interrupt the views. It's impossible for dogs to dig under due to rock beneath the grass. Although the gardens for both barns are totally enclosed we would always recommend guests keep an eye on their dogs whilst they are outside :)

“Peaceful location with wonderful views”
Reviewed November 13, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

We stayed 4 days during Xmas in the barn.

The Barn was a lovely cosy place to stay with wonderful views. The barn itself has everything you would want from a self catering cottage.

The location was fantastic, peaceful in the countryside. We just needed good weather as it constantly rained during our entire stay.

Brechfa Forest is very near by which is perfect for walking and mountain biking. Unfortunately our walk in the forest was not so perfect as we kept hearing dirty bikes near by us (without seeing them) when we felt uncomfortable.

Only down point with the cottage was that there was dump in one of the rooms with twin beds. My wife and daughter slept in double bedroom, while I slept in other bedroom with twin beds in the first night which was not comfortable during night with dump feeling and wet walls. Next 3 nights I slept in the sofa which was very comfortable.

Nikki’s home cooked lasagne and mushroom soup was perfect.

How disappointed we were not to receive our usual 5 star rating. We are however delighted that you enjoyed our cosy barn, views and food.

We're sorry to hear your experience damp (you say dump but I assume you mean damp) in one of the bedrooms. Since your visit (almost a year ago) we have installed French drains around the barn which has solved the problem.

Dirt bikes (I assume you mean dirt - you say dirty) are illegal in the forest. We haven't had any experience of this in the 4.5 years we have lived here but can assure you that any such activity would be immediately reported to the Forestry Commission.

We notice you have scored us 4 out of 5 on Customer Service and Directions and would be keen to know how we could improve on this? With regards to the weather I'm afraid that's rather out of our hands!
