The booking was easy and stress-free, with loads of info from David and Phillipa. We found the spot easy but with Google maps (use the site name, not the postcode), not your car sat-nav.
We arrived early evening and the only thing we had forgotten was the milk which David came to the rescue with. The cottage is spacious and very clean, extremely well equipped and comfortable. Lots of DVDs, sky tv, free view only. and books/games. There is internet but no phone signal, heaven!
As stated in other reviews there is a freezer in the communal hut that is well stocked and there are some local jams/relishes and local ales for sale. I recommend the cottage pie, the mushroom rogan josh and the pork biriyani.
Our dogs loved the place, as a bit of warning the garden is not that secure. and some low fences so for our bulldog it was perfect but our rather athletic staffy cross, not so, she had to on the lead all of the time. There is livestock on site and everywhere in the surrounding fields. Sensible and responsible dogs owners only, please! There aren't really any public rights of way in the area, so it is a case of using the roads which are very quiet, the locals tend to speed though so keep vigilant. Also, be aware that the farmers (who will shoot your dog if it is loose and worrying sheep) freely let their own dogs roam anywhere, so be careful when walking past farms, they get a bit protective. get your eco-friendly head-on as they are heavy into recycling which is wonderful and it is interesting to see the efforts they have gone to to get some recognized awards for eco-tourism and sustainability.
It is a fantastic base for hiking and biking. the coast is only 15 minutes away.
we highly recommend Aberaeron. we were spoilt with the heatwave but take a good insect repellent. We will definitely want to return but I think David is going to have to go some to get the same weather!
Everything at the cottage was geared for maximum comfort for the guests. Frozen food was available with a full range of jams and relishes. Beds and living area and kitchen very comfortable and the dogs just loved being there.
A full range of DVDS were available and the log fire was very useful with logs also available at a very low cost. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We stayed in the larger of the two properties, six adults and a toddler. The accommodation was very well equipped, clean and well designed. The welcome pack of food was a lovely touch. The grounds are super, giving us chance to explore with the little one, visiting the sheep, pigs, chickens, cats and dog. The games room lent itself to a table tennis tournament, inspired by the Olympics! The owner David and Philippa were on hand for any queries and the home made food we were able to purchase from them was an added bonus.
Cwt Mochyn is truly a gem of a place; and don't be tempted into thinking that eco-tourist self-catering cannot also be the height of luxury - Gold Star Award Winning provision isn't lightly won. The barn conversion is attractive and tasteful, with an artistic flair for colour and décor, each room having its own distinctive qualities. And one's comfort is ensured, with warm furnishings, a wood-burning stove for extra cosiness, and very effective but environmentally-sound central heating. It would be a real challenge for any guest to find an equipment item or holiday need not given proper thought, with beautifully fitted-out bathrooms, one en-suite, and a kitchen well designed for easy self-catering. Philippa and David, the owners, have made staying here a real pleasure, with every home comfort such as books, travel guides, study material, music, DVDs and television. And if you are tempted to get bored (perish the thought) there is an outside paved patio with a table, seats and a parasol, a garden to stroll around, fields to wander through and visit the resident sheep, pigs and chickens, a board-walk across the streams and to the tree house, and a well provided games room with its own land-line phone. And beyond Banceithin, but in easy reach, there are many tiny coves, beaches, attractive villages and small towns to be visited, all of which are fully described in the helpful literature provided, which also includes hints for shopping and eating-out. But should you prefer eating-in the owners can also provide you with a delicious range of local produce and home-cooked dishes to order. A week is barely enough to savour all the joys that Cwt Mochyn can provide, and its tranquil and relaxing atmosphere lures one into staying longer. Do give this place a try - you will not be disappointed.

Stayed here with my extended family. The location is stunning, the family that run it are incredibly helpful without being intrusive in any way. The house (our Welsh farmer relatives very much enjoyed the fact that it's called 'the pig sty') is beautifully fitted out, very comfortable, incredible attention to detail everywhere. Lots of stuff outside for the kids to do, lots of places to visit nearby. I can't rate this place highly enough.
