“Great place for a nice quiet vacation.”

I completely enjoyed my stay at Captains cottage this summer. It was a really nice place just up the hill from St. Georges main street but isolated enough so that we were undisturbed by any traffic or noise while at the cottage. The place also had some real Bermudian history which our host explained. It had plenty of room for me and my wife and 2 kids and was comfortable to all of us. It was withing walking distance of 2 beaches but also just up the hill from all St. Georges attractions as well as the ferry stop. I would go back tomorrow if I could.

My sister and I were so pleasantly welcomed to this beautifully set home on a nice yard in residential St Georges walking distance to downtown. Very clean and well appointed, we rented scooters, shopped at Somers Grocery, visited Robertsons Pharmacy, and shopped the many lovely shops (love the Island Shop) on Water Street. We enjoyed delicious dishes at the Wharf, the Tempest, Wahoo, White Horse, and the Beach Club off St Catherine's Fort beach. Enjoyed many beaches in St Davids like Clearwater (eat at Gomebys) and Long Bay, and Tobacco Bay. It was so nice to come home in the afternoon and relax at the outside table and recount our great times as we enjoyed a cocktail, and planned our next adventure. Thanks Alex!

“Quaint Cottage”

My husband and I stayed at the cottage in June. This is a beautifully renovated home in a quiet residential area. It is also an easy walk to town. The house was very clean and the owner was quick to respond to any questions prior to booking and through out our stay on the island. I would not hesitate to stay here again if we return to Bermuda.

We spent five days in the Captain's Cottage at beginning of May. It is an historic home that has been lovingly renovated and has all the modern features you would expect.

It is in a great location. It is a short five minute walk from downtown St George's where you will find restaurants, grocery stores, shops, local buses and the ferry to the Dock Yards. Fifteen minutes in the other direction are two great beaches (Tobacco Bay and St Catherine's). There are very nice walks along the coast and the roads have very little traffic.

We will definitely look to stay in the Captain's Cottage when we are back in Bermuda.

“Gorgeous Cottage in Fantastic Location”

I have nothing but praise for Captains Cottage. It is tucked away in a lovely, private location just a minute or twos walk from the centre of St George's and only seconds away from the Perfumery. The cottage consists of a very spacious and comfortable open plan living area and kitchen (very high quality kitchen goods), as well as two large bedrooms with the most comfortable bed I have slept in anywhere (I have had numerous spine operations and often struggle to find a comfy bed!). The bathroom is also spacious with a great shower over the bath tub. Outside there is a small but adequate patio area with a table and chairs, ideal for breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening. The pleasant gardens surround the cottage and have numerous trees, including coconut and a banana bush that gave us some very nice fruits for breakfast. If you are lucky you might be visited by Spooky the Cat who at the grand old age of 22 lives next door and is very friendly! When we arrived Alex the owner gave us a warm welcome and very comprehensive tour of the property - excellent! We would happily go back again as there is nothing to fault the cottage in any way. We had a fantastic trip to Bermuda and our neighbours were all so friendly and sociable.

“Old world charm with modern amenities in St. George”
Reviewed March 5, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Recently stayed at "Captain's Cottage" during a long weekend trip and found the property to be absolutely lovely! Located in a super convenient part of St. George, it's walking distance to both the old town (restaurants, bakery, grocery store), and Tobacco Bay for stunning swimming and snorkeling. The house is over 300 years old and was recently overhauled (by the owner himself!); it now features modern amenities and is impeccably clean, while keeping its character and old-world charm. The house has two bedrooms with high beamed ceilings, a stunningly fresh and modern bathroom, washer/dryer, and open concept kitchen-living room area. There's even an outdoor table/chairs for dining on the side porch during those beautifully sunny mornings, or for a glass of wine at sunset. The property is lush and features banana, lemon/lime trees, and even a coconut palm. You may be awoken by roosters (or general birdsong) or by the friendly neighbor cat's meows; any of these a welcome respite from the traffic and incessant honking we are so used to in our respective urban landscapes. The owner does not live on site but is super accessible and accommodating. Great place for a few friends, two couples, or a small family. Would stay here again - highly recommend!
