Just spent a week at Buddy Dive with two families, with a mix of new and experienced divers. The best part of the resort is the reef -- easy to access, lots of fish and coral, and fantastic for night dives. Other positives include clean rooms, A/C that works great in the rooms, good morning breakfast, and easy access to town.

On the negatives, the gear at the rental shop is bad. We had 4 people rent equipment, and all had issues. Regulators that would have lose bolts in the first stage that prevented it from holding air pressure, hoses leaked, dive computers would not work, rips in the mouthpieces. The shop was also not cooperative when trying to replace faulty gear. Also, the trucks are a falling apart. We did not have breakdown, but we worried about it when we were exploring the far reaches of the island. The list of issues with the truck are too many to mention -- just google Grand Tiger truck and see for yourself. When returning the truck with 7/8 of gas showing on the gauge the front desk wanted to charge me an extra $35 for returning with less than a full tank (I put gas in the car at the nearest gas station, and literally drove straight to the front desk to drop it off).

With pros and cons balancing out, I give it 3 stars.

It was our third visit and by far the best! We had a specific room we requested and although we couldn't get into it the first night, we were moved the next day. The breakfast buffet was great, I think my husband goes back just for the Omelet Station! The dive shop was helpful with shore dive sites and we had a very convenient locker to store our gear.

Room Tip: Stay in the 500 building! Great location, close to pool and dive shop.

We have been coming every other year for 23 years and love it EVERY time. It is a diver's paradise and not necessarily a five-star resort. Very comfortable and so clean. The staff is fantastic. We have never had any issues and plan to return for another 23 years. Beautiful reef at your doorstep... what is not to like!!!

We took our son here for a dive trip with a group from our area. This resort is terrific! The staff and dive instructors were very knowledgeable and made sure every minute was filled with fun and adventure. They gave us awesome suggestions for thing to do and places to see around the island. The rooms were clean and well stocked...like a home away from home. Having a truck was great when we wanted to do some sightseeing. I cannot say enough positive things about our trip! The boat dives and shore dives were beautiful. The coral and marine life were gorgeous. Scuba and snorkeling were fantastic!!! We are at the restaurants and food was good every meal. On Friday's, they do a beach barbeque and it was yummy!!! Water is crystal clear and the trade winds that blow constantly keep you from needing shade. Will definitely return to Bonaire and will not consider staying anywhere but BUDDY DIVE!!! This was the smoothest and most organized vacation ever ...tganks to everyone who worked there!!! 100% recommend to anyone who loves diving or wants to visit Bonaire!!!

Pros: new boats, frequent dive trips, good dive packages (boat and shore dives)
Cons: inattentive dive masters, bad equipment (bring your own!) and then gaslighting when you point out the bad equipment. The food is overpriced and not that great (go downtown for a decent meal).

Do check your bill before you leave. They charged me for a dive when I didn't even dive that day and there were some trumped up bar charges. If you read other reviews, this happens too often to be a coincidence.

I love Bonaire but will be staying elsewhere next time.
