The location was the main incentive to try this hotel on our first trip to Cuba early this June. We wanted the beautiful beaches of Varadero, but without the 3 hour bus trip to Havana(this hotel has a great 20min shuttle to the city that run multiple times a day). This is one of the very few hotels in Cuba that had both. Gorgeous white sandy beach just steps behind the hotel, crystal clear blue water, I've never seen a more beautiful beach! Beach staff were amazing as well, cleaned up every morning and were very attentive to get you a beach chair/umbrella if you needed one. Just be careful during any sunset/sunrise beach walks, as this is when the mosquitoes are in full-force. Other than that we weren't bothered by bugs at all.

The actual hotel itself is definitely nothing fancy, but after reading many reviews, this was not a surprise to us. It was the location we wanted after all. But it was very clean, our room was lovely, big bathroom, ac, balcony, quiet. The only thing I would do next time is bring our own pillows, the hotel ones are definitely on the lumpy side! We had no issues with running out of hot water, ac, or anything during our stay(except the bar would often run out of ice, mint, lime juice but I've heard that's common). Staff were friendly enough, especially if you took the time to chat with them, be polite, and tip occasionally. The food was surprisingly good, I was expecting much worse! There was always something to eat, lots of rice, potatoes, meats, and the fresh fruit and coffee was the best I've ever had. I'm not sure why, but none of the a la carte restaurants were open during our stay for us to try. The pool was not great, it was a little scummy at best, and by the end of our trip it was lime-green and completely cloudy, but with the ocean just steps away this wasn't a problem for us. I also heard that they are renovating it this summer.

Overall, this hotel is a quirky little gem that really grows on you. If you're looking to be pampered at a 5 star luxury resort packed with tourists, this is definitely not the place for you. But if you're looking to spend lots of your time in Havana, with the option of a gorgeous beach to relax on, this is perfect. It's small, low-key, and if you're not fussy and keep your expectations low, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It could use a bit of TLC, but at the same time it's great value for the money. We will absolutely be back in the future.

Great staff, very helpful, friendly warming atomopshere . But horrible medical staff.

Was giving antihistamine for mosquito bites by the medical team a week ago. Since then I have been extremely sick since then. Drowsiness, sleepiness occupied by extreme chest pain and cough, I'm getting worse by the day, hopefully not fatal.

Stay away please for your own safety

Booked this hotel for the last 4 days in Cuba and it is a gem. Very clean and comfortable room with sea view. The beach is directly in front of the hotel. This place is great for relaxing in the sun, with sun beds provided for free. Additionally there is a shuttle service to Havanna for day trips. The food is plentiful of choice for Cuban standards and always fresh. This place can be recommended without any hesitation. Loved to stay there!

We (2 couples and myself) finally decided on this hotel after reading the previous reviews. Our flight was delayed for 3 hours and we ended up getting there after almost a 2-hour bus ride in the wee hours of the morning. Check-in was quick, it was 3am after all! The lobby area consisted the front desk and adjoining to that a bar was dimly-lit and with natural air-conditioning. There were two desks to the other side where the tour operators had their representatives sited. Between the bar and these desks was the entrance to the main dining area.
All 3 rooms given to us had similar configuration, except mine came with a queen while the couples had 2 twin-beds. The spacious room came with a window air-conditioner, a bar fridge, 2 side tables, an arm chair and table, and a dressing-table chair, and cable TV. No tea/coffee making equipment. The closet had loads of hangers and a fee-based safe. The ensuite consisted of a tub/shower, toilet and sink. Only amenities provided was two generous cakes of soap, two bath gels and 4 bath towels and a floor mat. Though fairly clean, the finishing and condition of everything left much to be desired. The window air conditioner was very noisy, there was no remote for the TV, the water pressure was very low and the shower really needed replacement badly. The same went for the 4 pillows mattress as well. It was nice to have a walk-out balcony, but even the 2 plastic chairs were sorely dated.
There were quite a number of facilities available: table tennis, etc. but even the pool was in poor condition. The best part is the hotel is located on the beach, and though not pristine, it was a nice beach.
Food and drink though plentiful, was of poor quality. Though I appreciate the fact this was a third (or 4th?) world country, but I have to review this 3 star against all other 3 star facilities. Even most of the friendly and helpful (!) staff couldn't mitigate the deplorable condition. Neither could the location of the hotel which is about a 20 minute bus ride to Old Havana help much but for me to rate it so lowly.

We stayed at this resort over Easter. Its Cuba so do not expect very high standards. The things that we did not like at this resort, did not ruin the vacation for us.

PROS
Great Proximity to Havana
Free shuttle that goes into Havana at 9:30 am and 2:30pm
Vacation was a decent price
The beach
Sailing included in all inclusive price
The clean rooms and new towels daily
Newly renovated bathroom, no mold
Entertainment - music at dinner
-ballet at the pool at night
-salsa lesson at the pool
PS : The condiments are not on display. They are there in the back. You just have to ASK!

CONS
Food was very bland but there was always an option. A lot of options actually
Staff - Bar lady was charging 3CUC for beer instead of 1CUC
- The gift shop staff were rude, especially the lady
Hotel Beds are very old and uncomfortable ( as per boyfriend, I slept like a baby)
Flies in the buffet area (but then again its a tropical country)
Noisy mornings - get a room that does not face the courtyard. Excursion buses are super loud when they pick up people early in the morning.

Would we go back to this resort? ABSOLUTELY! . Havana was great! We walked so much. Get the 9:30am shuttle cause later in the day its too hot. Havana is decaying yet so beautiful and full of culture. Make sure you always carry toilet paper when in the city because they do not give you much and they charge for # 1 and #2.

Have fun!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 320. Bathroom is new, no mold.
