We booked with a travel agent and had the pleasure of dealing with some amazing staff. We had a bungalow which was so helpful given the massive size of the property. Can’t say I would have had as good as a time if I were in the main building as we prefer to be close to the beach.
Buffet staff were so kind. We really enjoyed our time there. Food was good, yes a little repetitive, but this is Cuba. My advice, 1) make an effort to learn a few Spanish phrases. Helps you communicate and bond better with staff. Google translate has a wonderful ‘offline’ version. 2) Tip, generously. These people work 6 days a week and earn little. Rather than give to charities in Canada where I know majority of the money is given to Admin fees, I take pleasure giving to these people. I also buy gifts and take things I don’t need. Cosmetics, clothing, toiletries. I buy Tylenol, soap and shaving things to give to them. They are very appreciative. Only reason I did not give this a 5, they really need a beach washroom. Given the massive size of the property/beach, going back to the far side of the pool in an emergency isn’t a good thing.More
