#1 Mimosa first thing in the morning, with a nice cappuccino, as you decide what to get for breakfast... relaxing by the restaurant's windows and listening to the chirping birds.
Go to the lady which is cutting the Mangos and get yourself a slice of Mango ( don’t overkill on the Mangos, it’s a diuretic… LOL)
And, have a fabulous breakfast!
#2 Tip the umbrella guys really well, so you always have an umbrella. ;)
#3 AVOID reception during your whole trip… if you need something, go straight the customer service desk! I was really disappointed with reception… REALLY DISSAPOINTED! The attitude is uncalled for… and the bogus charges, they tried to charge me for alcohol which is already included in my package… is ridiculous! They really have Zero Customer Service skills…. However…. The customer service desk, is whole different story… Both the gentleman and woman working that desk are phenomenal! As, a last resort if something is wrong.. please see your tour representative. But, I am sure that there is nothing that the Customer service desk cannot handle.
It’s been months and I am still upset at the way that Reception girls treated my friend during her check in !
I wish Melia Las Americas would have their Customer Service people train reception… PS: when a person pays for ocean view.. and they get a room that faces only trees to the front of the entrance… Please do NOT EVER look her in the eye and say… well this is ocean view for us! That is flat out insulting!
#4 The Animation team is really accommodating and tries their very best for everyone to have a really great time…. I wish I could remember their names… Some are : Frankie, Yordan… etc.. awesome team … The Lifeguards too, are super nice… Arturo.... etc… Everyone was super SUPER nice. THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU! Especially, the older gentleman, that healed me at the beach when I was ill!! Some special remedy that has been passed down generation, to generation!
#5 YOU MUST PAY A VISIT TO THE BAR AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE! ASK the bartenders to make you a “PICK ME UP”! I assure you that it will PICK UP Right UP! ;) WARNING: they are HIGHLY Addictive!
#6 Make sure that if you take a tour to Havana that the bus stops for the fresh, all natural made Pina Colada’s (and make sure that you add a touch of cinnamon to it)!!
#7 Should you ever feel the need to break your fear of heights and experience a total leap of faith - Know that the Varadero Skydiving Center, has won Gold medal for most accurate landing. These guys are very experienced and will take very good care of you.
#8 A special thanks, to the hotel’s mechanic/engineer, that calmed me down when I was panicked over the voltage of the plugs in the wall… and was too afraid to plug my cel phone in…. he took the time to calm me down , verified my phone, even plugged his own phone using my charger.. to prove to me that it was safe and that I didn’t need the converter as my phone and charger were able to handle Cuba Voltage. (PS: not all phones are able to , so always ask for the engineer to check).
#9 Take the time to go for a leisurely stroll to the left of the hotel.. the shoreline and rock is so beautiful …. Great backdrop for pictures!
Please note that food in general in Cuba, is not like you would find at home… therefore.. Try to enjoy the fish, instead of the beef.. and enjoy the local fruits, the deserts… oh and you have to try the Italian restaurant! Loved it! And the chef is awesome!!
And, the grilled chicken sandwich from the 24h room service, you can call them anytime!! It was really good!
Well, I hope this helps.
I really wish I could remember everyone’s name… but it’s been a few months and I was so busy having fun and doing many excursions, during my two weeks there, that I cannot remember everything!
HAVE A BLAST EVERYONE AND MAKE SOME GREAT NEW FRIENDS!!!
