Eduardo's House
Ranked #38 of 55 Varadero B&B and Inns
Reviewed 16 March 2012

I've traveled numerous times in Cuba and this Casa Particular was the greatest place I've ever stayed in.
I rented the whole casa for 6 days. There are two bedrooms each with their own secured doors. There is a kitchen, dinning room, living room, a back screened in balcony patio and a front open air balcony patio over looking the street.
This casa is not like most you will find in Cuba. The owners don't live with you. It truly is like having a separate independent apartment.
The place is very very clean and impressive. I stumbled home many a night and nothing every happened to me. it's very safe.
The master bedroom bed is great, I had no trouble sleeping unlike some resorts I've stayed in. There was always hot water :)

The owner Eduardo and his lovely wife were over accommodating. When I flew in from Toronto, they arranged to pick me up at the airport. When I asked for a BBQ to cook on, they provided me with meet and a Weber BBQ. When I asked for a DVD player to play cartoons on for a child, they brought one right over. They speak very good English and are more then willing to help with any request you might have.

You will be close to the beach anywhere you stay in Varadero and it's only a couple minutes walk.
There are 24hrs places selling burgers ($1.50), coffee (0.60) beer ($1-2) all around them.
Close to El Toro and a pizza place (forget the name) that has wonderful food.
Markets are just down the street and the bank is a easy walk at Calle 32. The bank is closed on Sundays and for 1.5 hrs at lunch.
There is a bakery for fresh bread just around the corner
A car rental is two blocks away. It's only $5 to go accross town to Calle 62 (highly recommended) and Havana Club.

There are Marcados close so you can buy food to cook at the casa if you want. I would highly suggest sitting on the front balcony, people will walk or ride buy yelling what they are selling. Stop them and buy it....very very cheap...don't take their first price, barter it down. I purchased a bag of tomatoes, a bag of cucc's, a bag of green peppers and garlic for $4 CUC's. A big thing of bananas for $1 CUC. They sell almost everything right outside your door - way cool.
I recommend telling Eduardo what you might want and I know he will be able to get it for you.
They also have a full menu if you would like them to come and cook for you.

To book the trip I called Eduardo from Canada and had no problems, you can also email him.
This Casa and the owners truly made my trip great!

I would recommend this Casa Particular over all others for people who like to feel independent and live local. If you have any questions I would be more then happy to talk about my stay here.

Stephen

Room Tip: The master room has a single bed that is very comfortable. The other room can sleep 4 people easy.
