Coming from the US, I would consider this a 3 star hotel, but from what I could tell, there weren't many better options. The rooms were clean, but very basic. Definitely not a luxury hotel. Wi-fi is spotty, but there is a business center with a couple of computers you can use for better internet access.
The beach scene is lively. Be prepared to hear loud music blaring, late at night on the weekends. The rest of the week it's not an issue.
The restaurants are mostly all outdoor dining, with a few exceptions. The food was very bland. Apparently spices have not yet found their way to this part of the world yet and no one there has ever even heard of hot sauce.
There is no shortage of cigarettes and smokers there however, which will make you appreciate the outdoor dining.
There is a free hotel shuttle that will take you into town and back to the hotel.
You can book a boat dive with them or a shore dive with The Dive Bus down the street (they will pick you up).|
On a final note, there are MOSQUITOES here. Wear long pants/sleeves and/or bug spray at night. I had several bites by the end of the week. :(

Room Tip: Bring an AC adapter for your cell phone or anything else you need to plug in.

We're still here, and loving the resort and the beach. We are in a two bedroom apartment overlooking the pool and it's perfect for a family of 4. There's a kitchen with a weird microwave/oven/toaster appliance that is tricky to use and impossible to bake/grill in, but it'll warm up bread nicely and that's pretty much what we've used it for. Otherwise, there's everything you need to cook basic meals, and who wants to cook more than that on holidays?

There's good pressure in the shower and the cleaning staff do an okay job of providing fresh towels (although strangely we didn't get any hand towels for the first few days of our stay so were surprised when they actually showed up!).

There's a gym that is really excellent right adjacent to the property and jogging along the main road in the mornings is perfectly safe and flat.

There are numerous grocery stores within 5 km of the resort, each one with a different vibe. We've become addicted to the giant avocados while here and 1 lasts for a family of 4 for 2 days or more.

We have eaten at two of the restaurants, Hemingway and Chill, and would highly recommend Hemingway for the Latin Night on Sundays. The band is great and the food is actually better than what is normally on the menu there. Chill is fine, but there are better places just on the promenade at Mambo Beach next door.

The real showstopper at this resort is the beach and water. It's artificial but because of that the water is so crystal clear that you can see fish without actually needing goggles. We have never spent so much time in the water as we have here - moving from the main beach to the lagoon side regularly. And there is never a shortage of beach loungers, which is unheard of in most resorts. So as far as a family vacation in the sun, with all the amenities for activities and comfort, it is a wonderful place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

But here are a few comments for the management which I hope they consider seriously. You claim that this resort is very eco-friendly and green. Because of that you provide only a basic soap dispenser in the shower instead of proper shampoo and soap in those little bottles people are used to, and that's fine. We can buy our own products.

However, there are things in the resort that make me shake my head at the "Green" and "Eco Friendly" philosophy. At the Latin Night dinner on Sunday you feature ice cream for dessert, but instead of providing proper bowls or cups in which the ice cream is served, you have plastic cups and spoons. We saw these, when empty, get blown off the tables by the wind and into the lagoon. Why do you have regular china plates and bowls for the dinner and then suddenly switch gears and only have a plastic option for dessert dishes?

On the beach, people can order food from Hemingway for delivery to the sun loungers. These orders arrive in styrofoam takeout containers in plastic bags. Double Whammy of no no's for the environment. Plus....all the drinks served on the beach are in plastic cups and come with straws, which inevitably wind up in the ocean. It's like a plastic jungle out there. You can switch from styrofoam to biodegradable paper take out containers, and only have reusable plastic cups that are run through the dishwasher. And no straws. And while we're at it, the cigarette butts that people just put in the sand when they're done smoking is gross, but I suppose you can't stop them from smoking.

But what you could do is take all the money you save on not buying those little bottles of soap and shampoo and conditioner and instead switch over to better cups on the beach, and maybe explain to people why straws aren't good for the environment and I think most people will understand.

You have a beautiful resort. The grounds are spectacular, the banana trees and mango trees, the beach, the iguanas, even those little snails that walk along the path every night. I get it that you are green, and you are, but you can always make changes to be a little greener, and those fish in the ocean will thank you.

As for us, we would come back in a heartbeat.

The beach here was very protected so no huge waves. It was quiet. RIght next door was Mambo Beach if you wanted music, excitement and late-night activity. We had a two-bedroom apartment which was very nice. The only problem was the electirc current. It was unsteady and seemed to have surges. My grandson burnt out his xbox and my camera battery charger was also a victim. The staff (of which there were many) were uniformly friendly and informative. The Italian restaurant by the lap pool was a favorite for lunch and late-night drinks and snacks. Breakfast at the Hemingway was "hit or miss"; it was labeled an American buffet ("sorta"). Some days it was OK and other days, weekend, was very poor. Same food, but the eggs were smashed, bread ran out, croissants ran out. Certainly not worth $20. The spa/workout center was excellent and free to all residents.

We had a fabulous time staying at Lions Dive while visiting Curacao. All the staff were extremely kind and helpful. Our room was upgraded upon our arrival due to other guests changing their request and we ended up with a two bedroom apartment. A grocery store on a short cab ride for snacks and staples. Our room overlooked the 50 meter pool, still with an ocean view from the balcony. It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful at night. The beds are comfortable, water pressure good and the four restaurants on the resort were great. We had our anniversary dinner at Nemo and it was excellent. The snorkeling right off the beach is incredible. Take European outlet adapters with you. The Wi-Fi worked well, we streamed movies in our room. We used our cards and US dollars everywhere with no problems. The Mambo beach shops and restaurants right next door are nice. The Sea Aquarium on the other side of the resort is a must see. We loved our time at Lions Dive and would definitely go back.
