This was our first trip to Club Med & Punta Cana and what wonderful memories we made!! Everything was FLAWLESS!! From the airport to hotel...Club Med was A+++++++!!!! We did not have a single worry while we were there! Kids Club was AWESOME! Had a 4 year old in the Kids Club & a 2 year old in Mini Club...the first day we of course spend walking around to see if we could see our kids & if they were having fun and YES! Always having fun & happy, with a ton to do! All of the Kids Club staff were amazing!!! I felt their energy & that they were truly happy to be with the kids. I have never seen anything like it! I 100% recommend paying the extra money for Mini Club...my husband & I got to relax for the first time in 4 years!! The food was wonderful, lot's of choices every night. We at both restaurants & snack bar, food was great! Rooms were nice & very clean, plenty of space in the deluxe family room for a family of 4. Extra bottled water & towels, no problem!! Beach was GORGEOUS, always plenty of beach chairs...we didn't head to the beach until noon everyday & we thought for sure there would be a lack of beach chairs but never a problem! Nothing was ever crowded. The grounds were gorgeous, very clean & smelled wonderful. Bugs were NEVER a problem. We could always understand the staff, I was worried about that because my husband can hardly understand English haha (he's American!) much less a different accent but he could understand everyone. I'm trying to think of any negatives & the only one I can think of is that we couldn't stay longer. Hoping for 10 days next year!! I don't even want to try a different resort, this one was absolutely PERFECT!! I had tears the last day of Kids/Mini Club when we said goodbye & the last day of vacation. It just felt like home away from home. I have to say, anyone that has anything negative to say is just a very hard person to please...unless they had really bad luck on vacation. Keep up the great work Club Med, Punta Cana!!!

Room Tip: We chose the Colon building, wonderful location, very close to reception & the kids club...it di...

Every night the various chefs competed to produce a signature dish that would prove most popular. We tried everything thing from foie gras, roast duck, ethnic food of various types as well as good old steak and lobster. There was a separate station for children with burgers, fries, chicken, and grilled cheeze. The food was the best of any of the dozen or so all-inclusives in five countries where we have stayed. Only criticism: no table service. Both main restaurants were buffet only.

This resort was billed as child and baby friendly-- believe it. Babies and children were everywhere and the resort provides an apparently wonderful program for babies, children, and teens. The down side was that there was virtually nowhere where adults could go to be without children. Even the late disco had its share of cildren about. There was an adults-only section in the Samana restaurant-- right next to the baby and child sections.

The beach was fabulous and we never had any trouble finding chairs or getting beach-side drinks service. Our room was very comfortable. We had a club family room with a nice veranda and a little sitting room. Our room attendant was most solicitous and left our room clean and well-stocked every day.

There were many, many "GOs" as the activities staff are called. This is part of the Club Med culture. At times they were a little intrusive. They invited themselves to our tables, joined us uninvited in the bar and engaged us in conversation, whether we were receptive or not. A little disconcerting for reserved Canadians.

We took one day excursion on a catamaran to an island. We drove through Higuey to get to the embarking area and had a great day of sun and sand. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Room Tip: If you are a couple the Club couples rooms are bigger and more confortable than the Club family.

We had a blast at this resort in February. Great kids' clubs, good food, nice all-inclusive. For the people complaining about birds in the restaurant: its an open air restaurant (very comfortable and classy with excellent food) in the Caribbean. What did you expect? And yes, its a French owned resort so to the Americans who are complaining: if you are going to travel you need to expect that not everyone will speak perfectly the ONE language you know how to speak. That said, our daughter speaks primarily English (she is 5) and she got along just fine. The pool is relaxing, get your towel on your deck chair by 9:30am and you'll be fine. Same with the beach. Great service, nice people, and our family (three generations) had a really fun time. I would recommend this resort to people I know.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Tiara section in a little duplex on the beach. It was lovely. One room for the kid...

This was our fifth visit to a Club Med - after Punta Cana 5 years ago followed by Ixtapa (our favorite), Cancun, and the Turks and Caicos. We travel with a group of 20-30 people, pay extra for some gluten-free treats (though we get most of our food from the general buffets, like everyone else) and like the casual summer-camp atmosphere. We don't think anyone could really have a bad time at this Club Med, so long as you're there for relaxation.

That said, we were surprised at the lack of organization at Punta Cana. Arrival was a mess. Our group travels separately, and all had difficulties getting the airport transportation we'd paid for - especially at the end. Hardly anyone got the standard Club Med greeting and we had to approach GOs until someone found someone who could take us to our room. We got our Club Med bracelets, but two of our group (separate incidents) didn't, and like at least three other couples, we found we had one room key, not two. There were kitchen difficulties too that would not affect anyone not with a group on a special diet - but again, no one seemed to be in charge, and we didn't get a lot of what we'd paid extra for. And I noticed we weren't the only people fetching our own carafes of coffee and hot milk in the morning rather than sit around and wait and hope for service.

People who hung out at the pool found children all over the place (unusual at a Club Med - they have their own activities and on our previous visit had stayed in their own area of the adult pool). This time there was even an organized water polo game of some sort - two of our party were hit, hard, by balls while lounging by the pool - no apologies, and the children seemed to find this amusing.

We never saw the chef du village, and this may be part of the problem. At other Club Meds, and at this one five years ago, one frequently saw him walking around making sure all is well. Here no one seemed to be watching over anything. The GOs are helpful and friendly, though. The setting is beautiful, and there are fund things to do. We especially loved archery this time - Rub, the archery GO, is one of the world's warmest and nicest people and a great teacher too.

We mostly ate at the Samana restaurant near the main lobby - but tried the Hispanola twice. The Hispanola is in a beautiful setting, right on the ocean, and is an open building - but also open to birds, who are all over the place, fly past your head, perch on chairs at your table, and do what birds do. Before you sit down, take a good look at the back and seat of your chair to make sure there's nothing you don't want to sit in. I love the birds at Club Med, but prefer them at some distance from my dinner.

All in all, we had an okay time, though I'm not sure we'll be back (even though we know that chefs du village change frequently, and the next one may run a tighter ship. In Club Med's defense, we should say it was a particularly busy week there - the resort was full.

Room Tip: We like the buildings north of the reception area (lowest room numbers) because they're close to...

We have been on 9 Club Med vacations over the past 15 years with a group of 7-10 people (children/adults) and always enjoy the experience. We enjoy club med is because at the resort there are many activities, simple dining, and interesting evening shows! You always have the option for excursions. We went to Punta Cana for a long weekend to celebrate our mom's 80th Birthday. Special recognition for the great exercise classes from Telly and 'special drink' request accomodations from Tim. For the birthday dinner, we dined in the open air restaurant on the beach. It was beautiful. The dining staff did an outstanding job with the special champagne & 'birthday cake'. We saw both the Trapeze & Circus shows which should not be missed! They were the best i have seen in all my Club Med visits and showcased the talent and hard work of the Club Med staff.

This is our sixth trip to Club Med but our first time in Punta Cana so I will try to compare to other club meds, where possible. Just so you know a bit about us, my wife and I are in our fifties and have no children, we are very active and love food and wine.

This is the biggest Club Med we have been to – 1,600 guests – but it never seemed too crowded, accept on the day it rained. We were fortunate to have a room near the main facilities but more planning would have been required if our room was on the far west side of the resort, requiring a 10 minute walk.

The Pool/Bar/Dining Room/Theatre/Reception/Disco are all palapa structures so it gives a nice airy feel. They are also located close together which is very convenient. They have large, clean washrooms. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I was more frequently in there with a cleaning lady than on my own!

Beach
The great thing about the beach is that, if it is 2pm and you really want a spot in the shade you can get one, owing to the fact that the palm trees on the beach are several rows deep and not just on the perimeter. There are always empty lounge chairs on the far east side of the property – no more staking your spot at 8am!

Dining
We have always liked Club Med food. The Punta Cana main restaurant has more chef stations (6-7) than the others so this is a plus. There is a second open air dining room on the water which we enjoyed. I liked the fact that the standard wines were 10.5% alcohol so if you drink more because you are dehydrated you won’t get bombed. We liked the white and rose wines but the red tasted like it had been oxidized, maybe due to big changes in temperature. I tried on different evenings with the same results.
We were often joined by pleasant GOs while we dined. Many were Haitians who speak four languages, so it was interesting to hear their stories.

Fitness Activities
We liked the fact that the fitness studio is an open palapa structure on the water so you get the breeze but no sun for yoga, core or step classes. The main fitness room has a few more bikes and treadmills than normal and was not too crowded. It could use a bigger stretching and free weight area.
The pool is big, possibly 80m long, with a shallow kid’s area at one end. If you usually do laps there is lots of space, even when they are doing water aerobics. I also swam in the ocean which was great. While we didn’t do any beach snorkeling I swam through the snorkeling areas and there didn’t seem like much to see.
The Beach Volleyball court is partially shaded by palm trees so you won’t overheat. We also enjoyed sailing, but I wish they had catamarans as opposed to Lasers only. Archery was also fun.

Entertainment
After 6 years of Club Med entertainment I am perhaps a bit jaded, but here goes. We attended most of the theatre nights and they were as expected. The crazy signs are held in the bar – which is huge – but still crowded with a hundred people dancing.
Club Med often employs bilingual Canadian singers and this one was no different. Personally I would like to hear more local music and talent – as they had on one evening – but my feeling is that the majority of guests would prefer to hear all their favourite CCR or Elton John numbers.

Overall it was a great week and another good Club Med experience.

Room Tip: I would recommend trying to book a room close to the main complex.

We are a french couple and we just came back from Club Med and we had a great week in Punta Cana with our toddler. The club is very familial with a lot of children and everything is thought for each age. Even if the room was nice but not so big (I expected something larger in a deluxe room), it was very comfortable and very clean every day. The two restaurants were very convenient for kids and with a great food, changing every day. Tha baby club Med was really nice with playgrounds, shadows, pools and our son Jules, a 17 months baby, enjoyed it a lot. The staff was very professional and we were very sad not to have time the last day to say goodbye to Noémie and her team. With the pyjama club (a drop off pick up babies) we enjoyed the club med vibes for one night. We definitly recommand it!!

Room Tip: with our toddler it was very convenient to have a family room so we could be independent the night w...
