Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: This excursion is available for guests of the Bayahibe, Dominicus and La Romana hotels and Punta Cana resorts. The Catalina & Chavon tour is a half day snorkel excursion to the island Catalina. The excursion combines the sea and the jungle, nature and culture, and poor and rich. This is a perfect tour for when you want a lot of variation and diversity in your outing. We will snorkel at the Living Museum of the Sea, where in 2007 the wreck of captain William Kidd was discovered. Followed by snorkeling of the beach of Catalina in the aquarium. We will peek at the rich along the coat of Casa de Campo. You will experience a jungle cruise through the breathtaking gorge of the Chavon River...This all-encompassing tour is ideal for children and offers great value as a family excursion (not a “booze cruise”). Tortuga Cruise again offers a fully jam-packed fun half day emphasizing ecology and the preservation of nature while creating memories of a lifetime.

“Fiesta Tour - Catalina Island”

We were with a tour booking excurision.
The island itself was very remote and the beaches were beautiful. I snorkled and didn't see a lot of fish on the reefs. Clean beaches.

“Unspoiled beauty”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

Honestly had an unbelievable day on this trip. We booked through Seapro Divers who offered an excellent package...... I don't like the negative reviews on this as it all depends on who you book the excursion with.... if you want excellent service use Seapro Diver. I booked everything through them while I was there and they really looked after me !! Big shout out to Alfredo who gave us excellent advice in Seapro

“Beautiful & Fun”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

Left from the RIU Palace Macao by bus which took us through the countryside and villages and city to the boat departure point on the other side of the Dominican Rep island. This proved to be a tour within the tour as we got to see what the real Dominican Republic looks and feels like. The resorts are great and the staff are wonderful, but the reality is, you are residing in a gated community while staying at the resort.

Upon arriving at the departure dock we boarded a large catamaran and traveled about 30 minutes to the island. Adult libations were available during the cruise. We were allowed to swim in the clear clean warm Mediterranean water from the boat if we wanted to. This experience itself was well worth the trip!

On the island we were treated to a show of music and dancers native to the DR. Food was served buffet style as well as juices and drinks, with and without alcohol. Food and drink were included in the price of the tour. We remained on the island for a couple of hours to view the shows, eat lunch, sun in lounge chairs and swim from the beach. You can do it all or nothing - your choice.

Upon leaving the island a boat took us back to the point of our departure and overall the return trip was even better as now we had bonded with our fellow travelers and had the experiences we had just shared to talk about. After we docked the bus made the trip back through the city and villages to our home away from home at the wonderful RIU Palace Macao. A good time was had by all!

This was an all day excursion so you might not want to burn an entire day if you only have a short period of time in the DR. We worked this into our 7 day stay. Also, you want to try to pick a day when the weather is favorable with no rain in the forecast. A hat or baseball cap is advisable to help with protection from the sun.

“Huge Variety”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

I loved the variety of foods available on their buffet. The seafood paella and stewed goat meat were very good. All types of seafood salads and dishes. Cheese cake, flan, cookies and soft serve ice cream too. Waiters don't understand drink orders and moscato was not available, but they really try to please!

“Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful”

Once you get there, it is quiet, natural beauty with much sea life. Protected. Gorgeous!

The catamaran ride is the best; my girls LOVED every minute of it.
