Likely one of the best resorts we have ever been to. It was super clean, the staff was very friendly, food is like any other resort, but consistent and better than mexico. Our AC unit was making this loud noise, after a ring to the front desk and they had it fixed within a couple hours! Definitely recommend this resort.

Hi
Would like to let people know travelling to Dominica by air canada rouge is the worse.
We boarded 1 hour late ex toronto then while on plane they announced there was problems with the plane.
Air Canada served water and pop and added 1 free small bag of pretzels for the extended wait on the plane.
We arrived 3 hours late our resort resulting in the first day a loss.
The resort has beautiful views.
Clean rooms and good service.
Problem with this chain this past weekend there was a large party nearby and theh allowed the locals to basically take over the resort, have seen the other side of there natives.
Very loud people.drinkers and pretty much left us the tourist running away from them.
Grand bahia should be shamed.
Food on resort is maybe a 3.5 at best.
Activities are almost a zero.
Hospitality is good .
We have traveled here once before and account what happened this past weekend with the Dominicans taking over the resort now has resulted in us probably never going back to a grand bahia .
Just in .its 4 hours to departure time and already getting text from air canada saying be atleast a 1 hour delay leaving samana. Air canada rouge shame.
Never again Air canada.
End result a 3 at best.
Thanks

I for one have a soft spot for the beaches in Samaná. Samaná is my favorite place to visit. We did a day trip and decided to do the Day Pass at GBPC. This could not have been the best decision ever. The hotel is beautiful and quaint and it felt very intimate. Not overwhelming like some. The service was impeccable. Everyone was so friendly . The food delicious. The views from all angles of the hotel breathtaking. The beach was amazing I knew I was in paradise once I arrived.

This was our first time at the Grand Bahia Principe and our first time in the Dominican. The people are very nice and welcoming. They have a pretty good command of the English language, in my opinion. This was the best service I've had at a resort. They are attentive and know how to create an atmosphere. These people work so hard and always have a smile on their face or look pleasant. We barely had to ask for drink refills.

The view from our room was great. The maid was in there every single day so the room was always restocked.

They make an effort to be environmentally friendly. Your room key needs to be in a slot by the door to activate the A/C, fan and lights. The A/C also shuts off when you open the balcony door. It comes back on when the door is closed.

To get to the beach, you can either walk down (long walk) or take the elevator (recommended). The elevator view is amazing. It's almost as if you're going descend into the water itself. If you're not too tired, the walk to the private beach is totally worth it. It's gorgeous and you can walk out quite far as the water is shallow. There are some fish there, also, as it's not as busy.

Our favourite places to hang out and grab a drink were the lobby bar and the swim up pool bar. In the lobby bar, Manuel, Johnathan and Dario took amazing care of us. Hands down the best mojitos and drinks overall. At the pool bar, Raul held down the fort. He had help every now and then but did a great job solo!

The food here was amazing. I'm a vegan (and gluten and wheat-free) and my boyfriend is a bit of an omnivore. There was something there for both of us. I don't mean that liberally, either. The food was amazing. Every night had a different theme (Asian, Italian, etc.). Our favourite was the Dominican, Mexican and Canadian. I believe the Canadian was an exception to honour Canada Day. There is food available at all hours thanks to their snackbars that you can visit I'm between the scheduled buffet meals and after a late night of drinking.

They really went all out for Canada Day with decorations and had a really good poutine option at dinner! The entertainers were also going around spreading the Canadian love and they had a big show at the pool at night to celebrate.

The shows were great, too. There was soemthing different every night. The schedule was posted in the lobby beside the bar.

The gym was amazing. Basic equipment like most gyms at home that made for a solid workout. I love resort workouts.

We also loved our point of contact. We highly recommend the ziplining excursion. David was our guide. He lived in America for a bit so his English is near perfect. The zipline views were breathtaking. There was also a waterfall at the end we could swim in. After that, we visited their eco-lodge and had a drink. From there, we got a little coffee, cacao, Mamajuana and sugarcane history. We got to try these and there was an option to purchase the items as well.

We went kayaking one day at the beach. Non-motorized water activities are available for an hour a day. We also went on a self-guided tour across the bridge where we encountered some very brave locals diving into the water below.

The one negative thing I will say is that the resort is not completely wheelchair accessible. There are many ramps and an elevator, however, we saw how it could still be challenging as there are many steps. The resort is, afterall, on a cliffside.

We absolutely loved it here and can't wait until we can come back. The Grand Bahia Principe really set a new standard for us and we plan on visiting their other locations for our future vacations.
