Nice ethnic hotel by the beach. Beach is cleaned every day by employed stuff. Breakfasts are as sufficient given the availability of the food products in Haiti. Good sea fish for the dinner. Rooms are basic with noisy fan to keep the mosquitoes away. Mosquito coil is provided by the hotel in the room. Hotel has generator, it is always possible to charge phones and iPads. See is clean and good swimming and snorkeling.

Last year, my wife and I wanted to spend time in Haiti and decided it would be in the north coast since we have lots of friends from the region . Our nephew recommended "Le Cormier resort" . We did a bit of searching and decided this is the place to be.
The reservation process was a breeze, the receptionist was very pleasant and courteous, She provided us with all information that we needed. Our decision was to spend the Christmas and New Year Holidays at that resort.
Upon arriving at the airport, we were greeted by the resort chauffeur : Elie who was very professional and courteous. Knowing that we were not from the region, He gave us details of Le Cape Haitien and its people, the trip from the airport took about thirty minutes and Wow upon arriving at the resort we felt the magic of the place. We were greeted by the secretary and the owner, they made you feel welcome. We visited lots of places, but never felt so relax, the restaurant staff were superbed, the groundkeeping crew excellent, the maids were fantastic. Everyone would go out of their way to ensure that we have a very pleasant, enjoyeable vacation which we certainly did.
Our room was a few meters away from the ocean, it was very clean and comfortable. The sound of the ocean wave will put you to sleep and also wake you up. Let us not talk about the food which was outstanding , excellent Haitian cuisine.
We wanted to visit the Citadel and the resort arraged it , it was a breathtaking adventure, the guide was great, the youg guys with their horses were also great.
Twice we had lunch at Lakay, a local restaurant situated in the Boulevard, excellent poule ak nwa.
We wolud like to thank the owner, Mr. Simoni, the administrator,Tanis, the two secretaries, the maitre D, Huguette the server, Genieveuve , the maid supervisor. All the mentioned staff were excellent.
If any one is looking for a place to relax and enjoy the Haitian hospitality, Le Cormier resort is the place.

The best thing about Cormier plage is the soothing sound of the waves pounding the shore, it is the best lullaby for a good night's sleep. Napping on the hammocks, sitting on the beach chairs on the beach or swimming in the waves are great. There's also a tennis court and it seems like there's a pro who gives lessons. Food is not spectacular and service in the restaurant and bar is hit or miss. I was there for a week on a work trip and one day had to leave for a meeting at 7 am. Despite the restaurant technically starting breakfast service at 6:30, by 6:45 neither the coffee nor the toast nor the fruit was out making it a choice between being late for my meeting or eating breakfast. Lunch and dinner service is slow, but only a little slower than most restaurants in Haiti. Rooms are comfortable and have the character of an older resort, they are as well maintained as they can be given the salt air and proximity to the beach. They are clean, the property is safe, it is a great spot to have a relaxing holiday, and much better than staying in Cap proper if you are up there for other reasons although it does add to your travel time if you have meetings in the city or its environs. It is good value for money relative to hotels in PauP (Montana, Karibe, Marriott).

My wife and I enjoyed our 5-day stay at Cormier Plage Resort. Although only 30 minutes from Cap Haitien it has the relaxed feeling of a rural area. The property seems to be very safe. We never felt nervous and no one hassled us about anything. The grounds and the beach are well-kept. The sweeping beach and the verdant hills behind it made for a gorgeous setting. The wifi signal was strong all over the property and they supplied bottled water daily. The buildings look a bit old and weathered but that happens quickly in a hot, humid climate.

We ate almost all of our meals at the resort and we enjoyed them all. It’s a good thing they have tasty food because there is really nowhere else in the vicinity to eat. The staff were polite and helpful, despite the fact that we don’t speak much French. The original owners, Jean-Claude and Kathy gave us a tour of their magnificent Taino Museum right on their property. It’s probably the most impressive collection of Taino artifacts in the world.

The current owner, JB, and the manager, Thoris, were very helpful answering my email requests for information. They sent someone to meet us at the airport, which relieved the anxiety we had about arriving in Haiti at a time of heightened tensions between the Hatian people and their government.

We were lucky with the weather this December. It was perfect. We never felt cold or hot. The sea was the same temperature as the air so there was no shock entering or leaving the water.

The resort can arrange for some very interesting tours. We took a full-day tour to the World Heritage sites of the Citadel Laferriere and Sans Soucis Palace, truly spectacular places. We also spend a lot of time swimming, snorkeling and walking along the road with its many scenic views.

One disappointment was that a few mosquitoes were able to get into our room every night. That is a little alarming in a country that has some serious diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. Another negative aspect of our stay were that the coral reef was virtually dead, containing just a few tiny fish.

The Hatian people were friendly but the garbage strewn all over the streets in the city of Cap Hatien was the worst I’ve seen in the world and we’ve been to countries even poorer than Haiti that did a better job of cleaning their streets. The residents and the city government could certainly do something about this if they want to. These problems of course are beyond the control of the resort owners who did keep their own property quite neat and clean.

If you’re looking for a small, quiet, relaxed seaside resort in a beautiful tropical setting I recommend Cormier Plage.

My family and I spent about 18 months in Haiti and visited Cap Haitian on about 6 occasions. We love this beach and would visit every chance we would get. The water is awesome and the food is great. My kids and I love to snorkel around the small rear right off the beach.
