I recently attended a 2-day workshop (conference) at Medallion Hall Hotel in Kingston and I'm echoing the sentiments of my colleagues when I say that the overall service was "good - excellent!" (Incidentally, Medallion Hall Hotel is the "go to" spot for foreign and local government entities.) The facilities were spacious and seemingly sound-proofed. (The somewhat unusual floor plan might actually be an advantage.) All members of staff with whom we came in contact were very accommodating and several of them (including Shelly Ann) gave exceptional service. Lots of good, delicious food made learning easier! LOL A big "Thank You" to the staff members who retrieved and returned important documents which I had left there overnight. Now, that's service!

The challenge for visitors to Kingston is to find a safe, secure, clean, comfortable, economical and friendly hotel in the upper St. Andrew area of Kingston that offers on site dining, but is also situated near other restaurant choices. The answer in Medallion Hall.

This hotel originally promoted itself as an alternative meeting centre for Kingston-based government and business; however, it is now looking to attract more visitors who are not in Kingston for business alone. Close to the Bob Marley Museum (a few hundred feet away), lots of restaurant choice (eight in the immediate vicinity including TGI Friday's and a very good deli) that has developed quite recently, and a short taxi ride from either Liguanea or New Kingston shopping, Medallion Hall has taken on a new income stream almost in spite of itself.

We stayed at Medallion Hall on a business visit to Kingston and found the hotel staff friendly, the rooms clean, quiet and reasonably well-appointed, the air conditioning efficient, the Internet free and reliable, and the breakfasts (included in the room price) generous. The owner/manager is on site and willing to assist with any problems that arise. For example, when we checked in, the room assigned to us had no desk but the hotel quickly arranged for a table to be installed in the room to serve the purpose.

Although Medallion Hall appears to be a mid-sized hotel, the accommodation side of the operation runs like a small family business.

During the day, the hotel concentrates on its meeting business, but the rest of the time it is a small, friendly hotel whose staff and management are eager to please.

Because the original building was refurbished in fits and starts, the internal design of the hotel is quirky - one sometimes has to go upstaits to go downstairs, and hallways don't always lead to your intended desination in a logical or straight line, but this architectural misadventure is excusable.

Recommended as a good, reliable place to stay in Kingston for a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has windows facing away from Hope Road.

So my criteria was to find a hotel, central Kingston, Safe location , free Wi-Fi in the bedroom, Clean, Air Conditioned, Cable tv including breakfast, for under £100.00 a night as a single supplement.

Well, this diamond has all of that and more. I stayed in the Musgrave Room, which includes a separate living space, direct access to your room from the gated entrance.

I just loves it. A special mention to Sophia and Shauna whose service and to me was incredible. Thank you ladies. All were very courteous and welcoming.

The room was kept very well and clean. All the facilities worked and if you're looking for true Jamaican breakfast cooked well and authentically then this IS the place to stay.

Within walking distance of the Bob Marley must see museum, and directly across the road from TGI Fridays and a mini supermarket/bistro and roof top bar, Medallion is my first choice when staying in Kingston. Yes there are other hotels more prestigious and elegant, but this hotel has all that you need and you may get a little bit more.

Thank you to all the staff at Medallion especially Stephen the chef who took and collected me from a local church.

Lord willing I will see you again.

This hotel was so perfect. AIR CONDITIONED! lol They will accommodate you and your taste buds. I love the country but can not get accustomed to the food. They made a special order for me to enjoy food. I also love the way they keep you safe and do not let random people roam the hallways of the hotel. They helped me get a reliable trustworthy taxi. I would definitely recommend this hotel if your looking for the feel of the Jamaican culture. A plus is a bank right around the corner, a TGI Fridays across the street (amazing drinks) and you can get your ganja fix right across the way. Clean rooms and linen everyday.

Room Tip: Best views, clean rooms, clean linen, ask for back room to get a view.

Quirky hotel design, good service, convenient location. Several interior rooms with no windows. Some rooms accessed from inside a secured lobby, some from outside. Busy intersection. Close to the Bob Marley museum and a couple of restaurants and and tourist shops. This was a busy business trip so we didn't try the shops.
