We stayed 7 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. This is a very relaxed resort. If you are looking for crowed beaches, loud guests and loud music this is not the place for you. This is resort is very spacious and quiet. You have free access to the hilton about a mile or two up the road. The Hilton is much busier and more of a party scene. So you can stay at Jewel Grand to relax then take the free shuttle right up the road to party. I love the quiet atmosphere so this resort was awesome for me. I never saw cups or plates lingering around the staff is very serious about keeping the grounds spotless.
The resort is currently going through a few changes so the third tower is currently closed but will reopen. I was told they are redesigning some of the features to make them better and will reopen soon. It caused a few restaurants to be closed but the options are still pretty good but will definitely be even better when they reopen the other tower.
Our room was very spacious and clean. Cleaning service was done daily along with restocking the refrigerator with drinks.
The beach is clean and plenty of open chairs. There was no problem getting a seat in any of the restaurants. The menu has good options from excellent snapper to great italian and steaks. The outside crickets restaurant was very good as well. I found it pretty easy to get what you want if you just ask. A few items are available even though not on the menu. I say ask if you want it. We did room service for breakfast and it was awesome. There is also a coffee and ice cream parlor. The lobby bar was awesome. If you don't know what you want let the bartender make you something special. Once again, ask. Oh yeah, don't forget the jerk hut. It's awesome
Service was great from check in to check out. Please ask questions so you don't miss out on anything.
One more important thing. The people at the resort work very hard and give great service. PLEASE show a little appreciation and give a little tip. They won't ask for it, but they deserve it. A few dollars will brighten their days and the return is even more amazing service and a bigger smile.

An honest, unbiased opinion of our six day stay at Jewel Grande Montego Bay. We are a family of 3, with a 2 year old. There were several downsides, that had we known, we would have booked elsewhere most likely.

1. The website features 3 towers and many restaurants, bars, and outdoor dining options. This is no longer the case, even though their website has not changed to reflect this. One tower is completely closed, permanently or for the foreseeable future. We were told by another guest that the people there were laid off. This tower was home to a gorgeous infinitely pool, which you can still swim in if you’d like but no drinks or food, the only swim up bar, an outdoor grill (Pelicans), Ackees, Moonstone, Orchids, Annie’s Pizzeria. Now the property’s only restaurants are Le Bouchon, Waves, Pierside, Crickets poolside grill (open until 6 serving lunch and drinks) and the Jerk Hut on the beach in the afternoon serving only jerk chicken, pork, steak to go. There is one lobby bar. As for the cafes, our tower and the Sabal tower did have small cafes, which you could get a coffee/tea, ice cream or small ready made dessert or sandwich. The juice bar is located inside of the spa. There is one very small gift shop on site. The website is very misleading. With the third tower closed, it made the dining options sparse and repetitive on an already small property. None of this was relayed to us when we arrived or when we asked about it. This is a very big deal and very disappointing. I haven’t seen one review mentioning this. Personally when we visit resorts, we always stay at ones with 5 or more lunch/dinner restaurants to keep it interesting. Room service is available, but with an extremely limited menu and $5 surcharge each time it is used.
2. You get a paper under the door everyday of a “schedule”, but at this point it is useless because it is the exact same everyday. There are no hosted daily activities. The resort is very quiet due to this, which can be great for most people who just want to sit around and read or sleep all day. However, if you like your beach volleyball or poolside entertainment, there is zero of that here. We’re used to having some kind of entertainment or at least music on the resorts we’ve been to. There isn’t any nightly entertainment either besides a piano or saxophone player.
3. If traveling with children like us, there is next to nothing for them to do activity wise. We had to ask to have the splash pad turned on daily, otherwise it was shut down. It was small, but perfect for a two year old. And since there were basically no other kids at the resort, we had the run of it. If there were 10-20 other kids, it would have been overrun. There is a very, very small playscape and two small “playhouses” there also. The kids club is located in a villa, which means it is basically a living room with two TVs, one for video games, one for cartoons and little kid toys. Anyone over the age of 6-7 is going to be very disappointed and bored. The older kids and teen club that was in the now closed tower is closed. This is probably why there are not pictures of the kids club or splash pad online.
4. There was no mention of any available excursions or day trips available. We knew of the fact that we could visit the Hilton sister resort, which we didn’t do for fear of resort envy, or go to the Rose Hall Shoppes (which are duty free tourist stores) from our own research, but we were never offered or advised of anything off property to do. So come prepared with your own agenda for those kinds of things. They can help with arrangements.
5. Service is lacking. It’s island vibe, very friendly, but also very laid back. Don’t expect anyone to see if you need a drink down at the beach at all unless you rent a cabana ($80 a day). Poolside is hit or miss. We went up to the bar to get our own drinks and order our own food every time because they just didn’t come around to ask.
6. Most rooms are ocean facing and come with a personal Butler. We didn’t really use our butler. I think we would have if there were more activities or dining options, but because there were not, we never had a need to have them do anything. Some reviews on here mention using the WhatsUp App to communicate with them, but that was never relayed to us. We just called the general butler or concierge number, so I’m not really sure what was going on. Rooms are very large, updated and clean. We were in an ocean facing junior suite, which had two full bathrooms, a washer and dryer (you’ll need your own supplies), a full eat in kitchen, a living room, a balcony, a separate bedroom and walk in closet.
7. The resort is almost empty. No need to ever reserve a spot at the beach or pool. Plenty of spots available. During this week, they said the resort was at 50% capacity. We never saw another living soul on our floor in tower 2 except housekeeping. We basically only saw a couple of people ever in our whole tower. Only encountered one couple once in the cafe. With a fiery two year old, that’s probably a good thing, but if you’re looking to make any new acquaintances, probably not going to happen here.
8. Everyone we encountered that was staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The friendliest that we’ve probably ever been around at a resort. Everyone was relaxed and smiling all of the time.
Overall, if we were to come back to the island, we would definitely need a more lively resort. Unless some huge changes were made to Jewel Grande by then, we would stay elsewhere.

Thank you for sharing your feedback of your recent six day stay at our resort. We are saddened to hear that you experienced several downsides during your visit to our property. This was truly not our intention, and we are very sorry that our service did not satisfy your expectations.

Our Sentry Palm Tower is undergoing additional updates. We continue to work diligently to ensure that our guests are not affected by this change. However, based on your review, it seems that we have missed the mark with you, and we are truly sorry for this. Here at Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort and Spa, we set a high standard for ourselves and strive to deliver 100 per cent guest satisfaction. Your happiness is indeed very important to us. We hope you will allow us the opportunity to have further dialogue with you regarding your concerns mentioned in your review. We will send you a message to your TripAdvisor Messages section to learn more.

Our guests are still able to use our Sentry pool and a lifeguard is present at that pool daily. The menu options from our Ackee's and Moonstone restaurants are incorporated in the menus of our other restaurants. We also do indeed have a Jerk Hut now available on our beach so our guests can indulge in such cuisines. We also still do provide our guests with our scrumptious pizzas if ordered.

We are improving in our Entertainment area, in addition to having piano or saxophone performances, we also have a pool or beach party that includes cultural shows. We do offer beach volleyball and pool volleyball also for our guests to enjoy while at the beach or pool as well. Our Crickets Grill and Jerk Hut play our country's world famous reggae music, and other genre of music to bring further joy to all of our guests.

With all sincerity, we apologize for you having to continuously get your own drinks at the bar and making your own food order. This should not have happened. Please know that all of our guests should receive excellent service at all times from our associates regardless of our guests reserving a cabana or not. We will certainly share your valid comments with our Management Team for corrective action to be taken.

The Kids Club still have activities available so children can have a wondrous time there during their stay at our resort. We are very sorry that you were not properly advised of this throughout your stay with us. We sincerely apologize for this miscommunication.

Our Tour Desk is located in our Club House lobby, which is our main check in area. It is also where our Front Desk is located. Our Tour Operator is happy to assist our guests with booking excursions if they so desire. Assigned butlers, and our Concierge Coordinators that are situated in each of our towers are also happy to assist our guests with booking excursions.

Thank you for your commendations on our rooms. We are delighted to know that you found them large, updated and clean. Please know that we provide the first batch of laundry detergent to our guests. The laundry detergent we use is Tide Pods – 4 in 1 Downy. If additional detergent is required it comes at a cost.

Thank you for your kind comments on our associates as well. They are indeed outstanding and we are very happy to know that you found them the friendliest staff you have been around at any resort.

We truly apologize for the inconvenience caused during your stay at our resort and even more sorry to disappoint a guest. Thank you once again for sharing your feedback with us. It will certainly assist us in improving our guest experience and service. Your feedback makes us better.

The resort itself was GORGEOUS!!! Stayed in the 3 bedroom suite and it was absolutely beautiful!! No complaints at all for the room! Our Butler Aston was absolutely AMAZING, not so much our other butler but Aston made up for everything. He was always there and exceeded our every need! The best meal was breakfast to us, especially at Waves!!! Oh and the Hibachi was the best dinner!! Loved that absolutely EVERYTHING was included except for the luxury items (which is expected) like the Spa but that mineral pool at the spa, 5 stars!!! The grounds were very well kept and I loved how everybody was so friendly and you never had to walk if you didn't want to because there was always a golf cart available to take you where you wanted to go. Oh and David the greeter in the main lobby was the BEST!! He gave us cold hand towels and delicious ginger lemonade upon our arrival.
We also went to the adjacent hotel for a few hours one day (also included) and enjoyed their water park. It was very fun but soooo crowded, it made us appreciate the openness and quietness of Rio Grande. If you are looking for a party, fun and lively atmosphere then Rio Grande is not for you but if you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful, cater to self getaway then this is the absolute best resort in Jamaica to experience that! Cried as I left!

Room Tip: The higher the better because of the gorgeous views!!

From the minute we arrived, I knew we were going to have a great time. We were immediately greeted with smiles and warm lemongrass towels and the beauty of the hotel. We were upgraded to a bigger room which was a nice surprise and given a nice tour of the immaculate property. Everyone was so friendly, willing to help and down to earth. We had our own butlers and they were amazing- at your service to help in a second! The bartenders were magicians with making a drink even if you did not know what you wanted! The lifeguards were great and fun and knowledgeable! I honestly cannot say one bad thing! We have been to Jamaica several times and stayed at several different resorts but this one is by far the best and I would recommend anyone to stay here without hesitation! Great clean pools, beaches and all around facilities. Any issue if we had (which was minimal at best) was resolved immediately. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Our daughter cried on our last day as she did not want to leave. She felt like she was leaving her Jamaican family! Shout out to many of the staff and administration- Robert, Martino(great drinks!), Ricardo (thanks for the hobie cat ride!), Damian (all the Damians), Little Bill (Treveay?), Yasheek, Linroy (Oh Noooo! and also great drinks!), Sanjae, Maya, Norbila, Samara, Mykon and Kade (the best butlers ever!), Davian, Jermaine, Jamaine, Jarmaine, Jerms, Roxy, Nadine, Renate, Feleesha (bye Feleesha!), Shawn, Melbourne, Allen, Bridgette, Roneill, Rochelle, Donneil, Henson, Jodi-Ann, Jodian,Trefari, Janet (best eggs ever), Conrad, Julian (best smile girl!), Sabrena, Moya, Vinton, Fabian, Kenroy, Richard (perfect push up), Jamar, Answain, Henry, Geo, Keneil (kitchen) , Andre, Asari, Claudette (always with a smile!) , Alberga and Ingrid

So, I don't really have a ways with words, but I definitely wanted to leave my two cents for this property. We're actually still here as off this posting, staying in the SIlver Tower.

If you're looking for a place to book in Montego Bay, please PLEASE contact the wonderful people at Jewel Grande. Your personal butler will give you a tour of the property, book restaurant reservations on your behalf, and arrange anything you'd like. We plan on heading out to Dunn River tomorrow and he had it arranged in absolutely no time.

Additionally, I would like to make a special mention to the staff. Each and everyone is outstanding. My fiancée really needed a safety pin for a dress she is wearing tonight, and a staff member personally got out her purse and found one for her. Many of the reviews here are going to try and name one or two specific people, but it really IS everyone. There is water sports and a perfect beach to relax on. The drinks are VERY good and the food is so good I've been cranky all day because I want more and more of it!

We also took part in some massages at the Spa. Again: wonderful. We indulged in a Himalayan Stone massage while other members of the family took part in other various activities. One of our favorites so far has been hot/cold mineral pools at the Spa.

Anyway... if you're looking for a place to stay, PLEASE contact these folks to make arrangements. Literally a perfect getaway for whatever occasion.

We don't ever want this trip to end and are not looking forward to our trip home on Sunday! Easily a soon to be 5-Star All Inclusive Resort Destination. Get it while it's hot.
