Staff, entertainment, food ( Bordeaux recomended) and facilities all as advertised. My friend and I stayed at Secrets Maroma, Mexico last year and as we had such a great time thought we would try MoBay and we were not dissapointed. Have heard they are opening another hotel in Aruba , bring it on !!!!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are good would just add that a lot of functions are held on the beach so if you prefer qui...

My mom and I went on our first mother-daughter trip here. We loved every minute of it. The staff is phenominal, spa is unreal, the pools were great, and pool chairs even better. Food was the best I've had at a resort, and each restaurant provides a different taste, feel and experience. The resort was beautiful and very clean. Jerk chicken on the beach added a very Jamaican feel to the trip. We went on the catamaran trip which stopped at Margaritaville on the 'hip strip' in Montego bay. Once in a life time experience snorkelling with the fish, and going down the 3 floor slide and jumping on the water trampoline at Margaritaville was unforgettable. All in all, I would suggest this to everyone and anyone.

While I am giving the property an average rating, there were a number of things that made this trip/resort above average. I will endeavour to be quick, concise and honest, and like others, will break it down into sections.

Overall Property appearance - Generally I would say that it is quite a beautiful resort as you stand back and look around. Great views, beautifully maintained landscaping. The lobbies are simple and understated (not like some of the grand ones you would find in Mexico, Dominican etc.). Also, while I won't take points away for this, and nor did it affect my overall experience, the workmanship is pretty bad i.e. misaligned tiles, awful caulking jobs etc. For a two year old resort it doesn't seem to be aging very well.

The rooms - We read the reviews about the "Preferred Club" and decided it wasn't worth the money...we still maintain that this is true. Whether you pay for the wifi or get it free it is probably the worst I have ever experienced. However, aside from that the rooms are clean, but again, showing a bit of age. The one MAJOR issue is the toilet/shower situation. All the reviews about this are true!!!! The architects were smoking some real Jamaican cannibis when they designed this. The toilet has a glass door, and is located next to the shower, separated only by more glass. What's worse??? They are open to one another at the top...are you kidding me? CAUTION - don't have a shower when someone is doing their business!!!!

Food - Overall we loved the food. While we didn't eat at the Italian, we were generally pleased with the food (except for the Blue Mountain Jamaican food - strange that this was not that great!). We love Jerk, and yes the Jerk cart is great! The best food by far was at the Bordeaux (French), and the El Patio (Mexican). Yes the Hibatchi table is a must!

Service - Overall this was what we loved the most. Yes, we made a point of tipping....but often this was after receiving great service. The bartenders can take a lot of abuse from drunken vacationers...they are tolerant.

Check-in - Want a better room? Here is a good tip - suggest that you will give them $20...we got the room we wanted....immediately @ 11:30am! 2340 was an INCREDIBLE room....3rd floor, beach front!

Room-service - great, but you HAVE to specify if you want the food in the box, otherwise they will want to come it....and it may not be convenient!

Housekeeping - So it is true that this can be a bit slow, and sometimes the room wasn't cleaned until much later in the day, but if this is going to upset you or ruin your vacation then I suggest you are spending too much time in your room!

Lastly, the thing that truly made our trip was a driver we booked before went down. We found him on the internet - Kenneth Watson (www.kensjamaica.com). This fellow was AMAZING. Not only did he have a fun personality, his VAST knowledge of so many things was astounding. We spent the day with him, and we customized our tour...he took us through the real Jamaica, and ultimately we spent the last part of the day in Negril on Seven Mile Beach...which we loved. Ken's rates were so reasonable considering all that we did (8:30am to 6:00pm). If you book him, please specify that you want him to do your tour. Also, please make sure you feed him and tip him...he is a good guy, and we want to see him do well, he deserves it!.

Okay...wrote more than expected. Overall a good time, and the people made it!

Room Tip: 3rd floor has the better views and less noise!

We booked our trip and reserved a room at the St. James. It was a nice room, a view of the ocean beyond an outdoor bar. We decided to upgrade to the perferred Wild Orchids with the swim-out pool. We could only have that room for 5 days, they moved us to the 2nd floor on day 6 with no extra charge for the preferred during our last 2 days.. While the swim-out was nice, the view from the 2nd floor was beautiful and I enjoyed it more. I loved being in the Preferred. It was peaceful, great pool and beach and not a lot of crowds. We had breakfast each day in our lobby and sometimes lunch--no need to leave our area. If we wanted more action, we simply strolled along the beach to the St. James area.
The staff was lovely and very helpful. We never had a problem. The food on a scale of 1-10 was probably in 6-7 range. We had good meals at the beach restaurants, Mexican, French and the Surf/Turf at the buffet. The Asian was okay, the Italian did not do it for us.We did not try the Jamaican. It is a young property and they need to work on being more consistent. If you complain, they insist that you come back and they will make it right. We met a couple from Canada, they were honest about their meal when questioned, they asked them to come back and they were able to include us. We had a wonderful lobster dinner.
The entertainment and activities were good--they had a great beach party, and don't miss the steel band.
You can do as much or as little as you want at this resort. I would go back again.

Room Tip: If you want total peace--go to Preferred Wild Orchids.

The husband and I needed a "get away" from winter, schedules, work, and the children, and wanted an adults resort to relax and have some fun. Well Secrets Wild Orchid/St. James Montego Bay was all that and more!

The resort was clean, atmosphere incredible, staff most friendly and food out of this world! We had the most incredible time!

Entertainment daily with evening "themes". Games to take part in if you wanted, or just chill by the pool and private beach. Beautiful walking paths, and a nice little fitness center to help ease some of the guilt of overindulging in food an drink! As a certified personal trainer I can tell you there were many healthy choices in the food selection (if you want them).

Now I know you are on vacation, so enjoy! But for those who want the opportunity to work out, enjoy the spa, swim laps in the pool, or just enjoy a drink in the other pools with pool bars, there is something for everyone!

With five restaurants to choose from, and many bars, plus a nightclub to dance the night away, we never left the resort in our 6 days away!

I have to admit only called the kids a few times during our stay! Purchased a phone card at the gift shop and was good to go!

If you are looking for a nice experience, one that you can make our own, then please contact the nice people of Jamaica, and Secrets St James/Wild
Orchid! You will not regret it!

We arrived for our 7 day stay at the Wild Orchid PC on Feb 29th. On check in we were told our room & a couple others were not useable because of a maintenance issue. At first we were quite upset but w/ the assistance of our Apple rep, Collette, & the Wild Orchid manager, Nicoline, we were able to come to an acceptable resolution. We did spend the first 3 nights at the St James PC before moving to the Wild Orchid PC for the last 4. Both rooms were outstanding w/ any difference being negligible. For our inconvenience we were given a couple of features at no cost to us as well as a rate reduction because of our stay at the St James. Nicoline constantly followed up w/ us during our stay to see how things were going & whether we had any issues. The entire staff was probably the most kind & courteous we have encountered on any of our trips. The restaurants, food, & servers were excellent. The grounds & landscaping were gorgeous. We have been to resorts in Riviera Maya, Punta Cana, & Costa Rica the last several years & these are the most beautiful grounds we have seen. We highly recommend this resort & plan to return.

Room Tip: Rooms at the Wild Orchid PC are located w/i 50 yards or so of most shops & restaurants whereas t...

$600+ a night is way to much for this resort. The room and food was only okay. Not great. Entertainment is poor. Lots of alcohol to ensure you have fun but again not worth the money. The most distrubing thing was when we went to check out they tried to over charge us for the room. I refused to pay until I had a chance to see what my credit card charge came in at. When I got home I found that the correct charge had been put on my card and I did not owe them any additional monies. They tried to make us feel bad by telling us that the person who made the mistake(no mistake made) was going to have to take this out of her pocket. This was not the only rip off. We used the computers .50 cents a minute but did not have cash to pay and they did not take credit cards. So they charged it to our rooms until we came back to pay cash. Well guess what. When i reviewed by credit card there was the charge. This not only turned me off on the resort but the Jamica. Never again.
