“4th time & keeps getting better”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 March 2012

We spent 2 weeks from 18th February at Couples Negril. This was our 4th stay at Couples Negril & we have also stayed at the other 3 Couples Resorts on Jamaica.
We flew economy with BA from Gatwick (the 1st time with BA we usually travel with Virgin) & we found travelling from Gatwick North terminal much better that the South, it’s a smaller terminal & feel far less stressful. The flight was on time, the aircraft clean & the staff attentive. Unfortunately on arrival at Montego Bay we found long lines to the immigration hall – we landed at 4.15pm but didn’t reach the Couples Lounge until 6.50pm! This is the worst we have ever encountered; usually it takes on average an hour! Luckily Couples were ready with our transport, we had chance for a quick trip to the toilet, grabbed a red stripe then we were off on our way arriving at the hotel at approx 8pm.
Upon arrival in the lobby it felt oh so friendly & familiar; all guests are greeted with ‘welcome home’, a cold towel & a glass of champers. A few minutes to fill in the registration card & off we went to our room to begin our 2 weeks in paradise.
Our days were spent at the beach & some afternoons at the pool bar. The presence of the friendly security guards make guests feel secure & even the smallest incidents find the security rushing to intervene. The vendors are ‘no problem’ we lay at the very front of the beach every day & never once did any of them pester us.
We had breakfast at Cassava, mid munchies of gorgeous pattys & nachos from the beach grill & then ate where ever we fancied on the day for lunch – either the grill or buffet at the Cassava.
We ate at all the restaurants in the evening, our favourites being the Otaheite & Heliconia & again they were delicious. Lobster night is on Friday, the 1st Friday we ate ate the Heliconia & the 2nd we ate at the Otaheite. We ate early at the Otaheite & my husband had plans to eat again later so he could have lobster twice – but his eyes were bigger than his belly LOL! The good thing about Couples is that if you want more you only need to ask & of course there’s nothing stopping you eating until you burst, ha!
The staff goes out of their way to make sure that guests are satisfied, during our entire stay we never once encountered a grumpy employee & let’s face it we all have ‘off’ days!
So much has been written about Couples Negril, that I would merely repeat all the reviews. My advice – go try for yourself. When ever I’ve returned to a hotel for a 2nd time it’s never been as good as the 1st, but Couples Negril? 4th time & we’re planning a 5th. This place ticks all our boxes & we certainly know what we’re getting for our money.
Couples have a loyalty programme for repeat guests, which includes a free massage, credit for the resort (shops, photographer, upgrades) a repeat guest dinner (in fact some weeks they have had over 100 guests in attendance – speaks volumes eh???) & a trading places stay at one of their other resorts.

We left the resort & took the short 12 minute flight from Negril Airstrip (just across the road from the hotel) to Montego Bay, what a great way to view Jamaica. It made leaving the hotel at little less painful.
Our 1st stay was in 2005 & many of the staff still remain, each year we return it feels more & more like home.
We had the most marvellous time with friends old & new & were treated like superstars by the staff – YEAH MON !!!

Arrived at Couples Negril on February 26.We were not greeted with hot towels or Champagne. Check in was relatively easy and quick. It was down pouring and we were escorted to our room with a quick this is this and that is that tour. Our room was 1106 which at first we were put off as our travel agent requested a 3rd floor room for us. We were glad that we had received this room as time went on due to its proximity to the beach and the beach grill. The room was just fine and suited our needs. No bugs were seen and it looked in a pretty decent state of repair. Love the little deck from which we had an ocean view. We did get some noise from above several nights in a row which sounded as if someone was rearranging furniture and dragging their deck chairs around. This would occur around 11 to midnight. Stopped after a couple of days. Figured their time was up in paradise!
We had rain from day one until day 5 of 9.Sometimes heavy sometimes off and on showers. Staff provided alternate activities. It did manage to clear off for the bonfire. Only thing we lost out on was the catamaran cruise on Thursday and of course beach time. Rainey day in Jamaica still beats out a cold day in Pennsylvania!
Restaurants. All were great. I love to cook and expect decent food when out. I never have had buffet food that was consistently good before there. The restaurants change their menus Fridays and rotate bi-weekly. Our favorite was Otaheite. We ate there twice. The buffet on the beach (patio due to rain) was to die for! Don’t miss it. Lychee was our least favorite .Food was good but the service was terrible. Appeared all were getting terrible service that night. It took us over two hours to complete our dinner. Waitress was very rude to our friend. Can’t figure out why. Only negative about our dinning experiences were the extremely loud and obnoxious people in Lychee’s and others in one of our meals at Otaheite. Both groups appeared over served and left their manners back in their rooms. Both groups were so loud it was difficult to talk. Some people walked out of Otaheite early. Got to figure their romantic dinner was ruined because the food was excellent. The rude group in Lychee were getting comments and stares but it didn’t stop them. Felt sorry for the staff as they are between a rock and a hard place in how to deal with them. Also some people can’t read as to the dress code. Saw cargo shorts on a man at the repeater’s dinner, big sign out front, no shorts! His wife however was nicely dressed as the rest of the repeaters. A guy came in to Otaheite with jeans on and the manager said something to him. He got indignant with the manager and was allowed to stay. Enough said! The grill was also excellent. The fish sandwich was super as was the Jerk chicken. Service was a little disorganized at time. Liked the lighted buzzers they gave you to alert that your food was done.
Beach/Pool. Beautiful! Well-manicured. NO TOWEL GAMES!!! Lots of shade on beach. Vendors were not a problem and the resort security were on them quickly. They were not allowed to come on the property. Musicians were only allowed to do three songs and had to move on. They were good.
Take a small flashlight along as it aids in using the room safe as there is no light in the closet.
No problems with bugs however some guests got mosquito bites later part of week. All the rain perhaps. Didn’t see any bugs in the room.
Insulated cups were helpful. Used mine for coffee in the morning and drinks the rest of the day.
Towel clips were useful for the loungers as it can be windy.
Took small gifts for the maid and turn down staff. Leave a note saying you gave them a gift and your name and room number so security lets them leave with them. Got a big hug and many thanks from our maid.
Did some touring and highly recommend Alrick at http://yourjamaicantourguide.com He did a really nice and personal job. He will customize your trip as you want it. Don’t miss Floyd’s Pelican bar!
We can’t say enough good stuff about the staff and their customer service.
Started the vacation wondering why people keep coming back year after year. Now we understand!

Room Tip: We loved room 1103! The building location was great.Close to the beach, activities, internet cafe,beac...

We were there from Dec. 14-Dec 19, 2011. The weather was amazing, no bugs just good music, great food, and great fun! This trip was planned for my husband and I to get away for four days without our two precious children. We looked at every place in the US, Mexico, Bahamas, Domican Republican, Virgin Islands,etc...We chose Couples becuase of location on beach-bloody bay and waters were calm, price, size of resort, couples only, and for the amount of time we could spare it was just right. In addition to those reasons we also didn't like the commerical idea of Sandals. We wanted to all be treated the same. The reosrt is a bit dated but I promise you won't even remember that after all the activites and location on the beach will WIN you over. We believe we made the best discission and since have referred many friends who have also gone and had a great time.
We found Couples Negril to be just what we needed. This resort has amazing food, staff, music, and location on beach. The flight into Montego Bay went well and the drive was fine. It took about 45min to hour from airport but it was worth the ride. Upon arrival we went to the Couples Reception area at the airport(after customs,etc...that took about 35 min)Since we arrived later in the afternoon we rode in large van alone with the driver. He was not into telling any major details of the area-I basically had to squeeze information out of him but that was ok. The van was nice and clean-we opted not to stop along the way. The roads had no lines and well it was crazy but fine.
Upon arrival the resort was nice and we were treated very well. Our room was very clean and inviting. The rooms do not have the fancy whirlpool,etc...like many you see in Mexico but we weren't there to stay in the room. We were in building 5 with a slight view of the ocean from our balcony on third floor. Everything in the room worked well with NO issues. We were also a short walk to the water sports area which we loved and a short walk to the beach. The beach was very well maintained and the staff was attentive. We experienced snorkling, catamaran cruise, paid for the ride to rick's-gotta do -it was fun and glass bottom boat tour-which was nice because you get to see other resorts along the way and the shore line. We enjoyed all the excursions. The nightly entertainment was nice and relaxing. We really enjoyed the music with Shyam Moses. It was romantic and fun. The bonfire was very entertaining as well. Our favorite resturant was Lachee-which was awesome. The pastries were always amazing-especially the breakfast. We always had morning breakfast on the balcony and it was great!
We were never hasseled by vendors on the beach. The beach was always very clean and plenty of resort chairs. The water was gorgeous and clear aqua blue. Actually for the most part they added Jamaican entertainment to the area. The musicians were pretty good and was better than listening to my ipod. We would give them several dollars becuase it was really good music and hey-atleast they were entertaining and working for it. Nothing like hearing Feliz Nevidad on the beach-just great! There are several security guards along the beach line and they are very attentive to the vendors passing by. They might let the musicians stop or not. I think they have a couple of favorites they allow to hang out. The sunshades, cigar and HOT HOT guy was so funny!
Also, we never tipped at the resort except for the van driver from and to the airport. We didn't want a commerical type location as well as the Large resort feel since we take the kids to Disney about every year we were looking for the small cozy childless feel and we got it! WE had decided if we were going where kids were allowed we should take ours. Also, Couples was all couples and not the teen or college kids looking for a loud and crazy time. This resort is always pretty quiet and not for the roudy crew. We did have a night where we heard several couples getting loud but it was fine they were on vacation and enjoying themselves like they should but for the most part everyone was just having a fun time!
Hats off to the Water Sports crew! Very entertaining and always wearing a smile. Remember to sign up early for any activities want to partcipate in. Also, the catamaran is only one or two nights a week.
I am a very modest person and was kinda freaking about the all natural area but no need to worry for the most part it's blocked off and off to the side-opposite of water sports area and from what I was forced to see those folks need not share their bodies with us-it was such a giggle...LOL but if it floats your boat then go for it!...LOL
The floaties on the beach chairs are awesome-yes they are a bit old but hey there is no need to replace them annual. WE loved floating out in the beach area. All the guest were couples and I found everyone to be very friendly and alot were also repeat visitors that make annual trips.
We only have one regret and that was we had to leave! This was an amazing and fun filled few days. We hope to take our children back there soon but will have to stay at a different resort. No worries mon, just be happy and have an awesome time!

Room Tip: Building 5, near watersports and away from nude area. Top floor don't have all the folks walkin...

Yesterday we got back from six days at Couples Negril (our first visit to Jamaica), and we miss it already! I can't begin to say enough about the resort. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we had a terrific time, thanks to the friendly, accomodating staff, a gorgeous beach (and we are Eagle Beach, Aruba regulars, but I think the ocean at Negril was even lovelier), very good food, and just an all-around warm and wonderful atmosphere. To start at the beginning, although I read a number of Trip Advisor reviews commenting upon a harrowing ride from the Couples lounge to the hotel, we didn't find a problem with the drive either time. Yes, it was long, but certainly as safe as could be. Our beachfront room was in Buidling 6, which was a great location. We were on the first floor, and at first we were concerned that we might have alot of noise and foot traffic traipsing by our patio, but that never happened. The location was greeat, being feet from the beach and close to the buffet, pool, and activities. The room was kept spotless, and there was turndown service each night. Yes, (as many reviews stated), the bathrooms could use a bit of updating, but they were certainly adequate, and the bed was super-comfortable. As for the food, we enjoyed all three restaurants and the buffet was varied and generally very good. My favorite restaurant was Lychee, but Otaheite and the Heliconia were also very good. I also have to compliment all of the bartenders, who made excellent drinks! It was also great to have so many water activities included in the price of the resort. We took the glass-bottom boat ride, which was alot of fun, and could have gone sailing, kayaking, or on an evening catamaran cruise, all at no charge, but we preferred our lounge chairs and floating in the warm water on our rafts. All in all, I would highly recommend Couples Negril, and plan a visit back there again. We loved every minute!

Room Tip: Building 6 was perfect. My daughter was in Building 8 and there was alot of street noise.

My husband and I were at Couples Negril in January. This was our second trip to a Couples resort - went to CTI in November 2010. I personally liked Couples Negril better as it had more of a "Caribbean" feel than a hotel. Service at Couples Negril was second to none! All the staff was amazing, the weather was fantastic - it was a perfect trip and would highly recommend this resort!

A special shout out to Mike at Dream Makers Vacation Services. Mike answered all my many questions promptly and nothing was a bother! I will use Dream Makers Vacation Services for our next trip. Thanks Mike for making our "dream" vacation come true!

I don't know how to even begin to describe my trip here. All I can say is experience it for yourself and you will understand. My husband and I traveled here for our Honeymoon Sept 2011. Upon arrival to the resort, you are greeted with a cool towel and a glass of Champagne... feels like heaven after the hour or so drive from Montego Bay Airport.. which is very well organized.. you cant miss the Couples section( I forgot to mention you get free Red Stripe the moment you step off the plane and into the Couples area in the airport)! I asked my new husband if we had died in a plane crash because it felt like heaven! The rooms are simple yet fabulous... we spent most of our time on the gorgeous beach, in the pool with the swim-up/beach bar, doing inclusive activities, or enjoying the NIGHTLY entertainment. You can do as much or as little as you want. I 100% suggest the Catamaran Cruise and at least the snorkeling. SERVICE is what everyone raves about for a good reason! I felt GUILTY the first few days being treated like royalty.FOOD was amazing and we got to meet the chefs from LYCHEE and OTAHEITE. Drinks were never ending- and everyone was HAPPY! Husband and I are returning in July 2012 for round 2 with two other couples! Counting down the days to our return (119 days to be exact)!

Room Tip: Beachfront rooms are nice, but probably not worth the extra per night because everything is so close...

Absolutely the best trip. Upon our arrival right at the airport we were directed to Couples exclusive airport lounge where we waited for our resorts private shuttle to our accommodation. The staff was exceptional, on the 2 hour drive to Couples Negril, our driver also doubled as a tour guide pointing out all the hot spots along the way.
We arrived at the resort and were greeted by the welcoming staff with 2 cool towels and chilled champagne. They took care of everything so as soon as we arrived we could just sit back and relax.
The room was well maintained, colourful and clean! All activities were included in our cost, unlike many resorts which charge extra for snorkelling, scuba diving and water sports. Couples Negrl allowed us to snorkel, scuba, kayak, sail and take sunset cruises every day/night at no extra charge! It was great. I had private tennis lessons everyday and enjoy wonderful yoga classes! Nightly entertainment was superb! We had dances, game nights, movie nights, comedy, live performances! The food was phenomenal, fresh fruit at every meal, jerk chicken and pork like no other and amazing seafood and desserts. Drinks were plentiful, we received a fresh bottle of wine to our door every night (also included in the cost). The fancy restaurants made for a perfectly romantic setting for special dinners. I highly recommend this resort to all!

Room Tip: 3rd floor was our pick
