“4 Times and Counting”
Reviewed 29 March 2012

I suppose it’s fairly clear that since we have been at SATP 4 times (will be 5 in September 2012), we must enjoy it! This time we took 2 others couples to experience the reort.

We went back for our 5 year anniversary, and it’s still like coming to our second home. Kenroy's immediate greeting is always great - he truly makes us feel that he is excited to see us. The complete staff is the reason we keep coming back. We did miss Omar, but we will see you next year! The Captain (esroy) , Kirk, Rory, Oshane (welcome back!),45, Mel, all make getting your drinks entertaining. Randy on the beach and Clevon at the beach or the pool keep things in order and are some of our favorites to take some time and talk to about nothing or everything. Was good to see Ruddy dances as well as he cooks! Sifford takes care of all of your dining needs, at the buffet or the Ala Carte – and Venroy is a wonderful server. Be sure to visit Opal frequently at the beach grill – everything she makes is fantastic! Its hard not to mention all of our friends at the resort, but it truly is what makes the resort the best we have been to.

You may find better spots I the Caribbean that do pieces better than SATP, but when you consider the reasonable price, the beautiful ground, good food and amazing staff – it can’t be beat. On our anniversary everyone was wishing us well – its sometimes almost surprising that they know!

A few external recommendations: For transportation, Mark is a great guy. We have used his services now many times and has become a good friend. He parks right in front of the resort (Blue Toyota wagon) many times when he is free and will set up anything you need. He took us to “Firewater Love Nest” for drinks and the sunset – a perfect place on the west end cliffs!

If you are on the fence, please book the trip. When you get there, engage the staff and have a great time – its hard not to!

We have just returned from SATP, which was our 2nd holiday at this wonderful hotel. Everything was just as good as last year, but a special mention must go to ALL the staff (Except for one of the evening poolside barmen who conveniently did not wear his name badge & who could be quite rude and very offish) who were as wonderful as ever, a special; mention to Ian the pool guy, who is fantastic, Shemoy, who made great rum coffees, Captain Kirk - Superman! top cocktail barman, who could mix you any drink what ever your tipple. Claudette & Christine fantastic waitresses in the restaurant, who always kept us topped up with red wine. Lairs & Cornelius who also played a part in making our holiday great. Apart from one, all the staff were fantastic! If you are looking for a rip roaring knees up this is not for you, if you are looking for a relaxing holiday with all the trimming then this is for you. The only negative was having to listen to the same band, Foxtrott who at best were mediocre for most nights, but we were told that the hotel was in the process of changing its evening entertainment. Also we were told that men had to wear long trousers and closed in shoes into the restaurant, my husband had long trousers and expensive leather sandals, but we were told we couldn't go in the restaurant, but we saw several men going in wearing shorts and open sandals. We really couldn't be bothered to complain, but thought it was worth a mention to future guests. To sum up, food was excellent, cabins fantastic, grounds & gardener were fantastic, and overall once again a brilliant holiday highly recommended.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the main road

i went to sunset at the palms with my two grown up daughters, we had a fantastic time, the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble for them, i was bitten quite badly with sand flies and they sprayed our room every day and also gave me a net for over our bed, the food was superb and had a great range, breakfast was my best meal of the day and this was very varied, over the road at the beach the beach bar and grill was excellent, we were well looked after by desmond and tian and melissa, kirk and lair were great bar staff always there to please and nothing was too much for them ,
We enjoyed ourselves so much we plan to return again next march

Room Tip: rooms in the 700 s are alot quieter but the noise didnt bother us too much at all

My wife and I were at SATP March 3-10 and had an absolutely amazing experience. Upon arrival we met Kenroy and he helped hand pick our room of choice. The staff also gave us a hospitality room while we waited for our plane on departure. The cabin was beautiful with all of the amenities including huge flatscreen, and air conditioning. The housekeeping staff were simply outstanding and we definitely made some friends at SATP.
Breakfast were a treat to look forward to as Andrew was whipping up some amazing omelettes, and the early morning coffee, or cappucino at the coffee bar were always fun. Lunch at the buffet the food was always top notch and we were always served with a happy smile. Most of the time for lunch we were down at the beach bar enjoying the superb jerk chicken, cooked by Alana and Opal. The beach bar is amazing with beautiful views everywhere. We signed up for dinner at the Lotus Leaf 2 of the nights and enjoyed 2 more spectacular meals, I highly recommend the lamb.
The walkways to the cabins are full of beautiful flowers and lush greenery and the hardworking groundstaff should be commended. If a palm branch fell at SATP you would never know. In particular the stamped concrete pathways and mini bridges were beautiful. The staff were never hesitant to name a plant or take our picture for us, and because of this we have some of the nicest memories and pictures as well.
Although this is all inclusive I would recommend bringing a few extra dollars for tipping because the staff work so hard to make sure that youre having a great time, even if they are singing for you or telling jokes etc.. The entertainment was great with Lady Stephanie (Lauren Hill look out), and the house band was fun with everyone out dancing.
We went on an excursion with "John Wayne" taxi service and had a fantastic time checking out the Black River crocodiles, and swimming in the Y.S. Falls. John Wayne really knows Jamaica inside and out and he showed us Jamaica in a safe, educating manner. (He will stop for Red Stripes on demand for you though) He was reasonably priced and we had a fun time.
The only negatives we ever heard about this place were always the bugs, and the noise and we were never bothered by either. We brought bugspray and didn't use it. The noise didn't really bother us either, as we both slept beautifully on the beds all week. We are looking forward to booking again next year same time and can't wait to return to this picturesque land of beauty. Thanks especially to all of the wonderful people we met If I wrote all of the names it would be 2 pages long, you know who you are. See ya next year mon! Mat n Sarah

Loved the resort. Agree that it i much nicer in the smaller resorts, do not like the super resort atmosphere.
Grounds and rooms were nicely decorate, Great shower, bed etc. We had to switch rooms after the first night b/c we were right by road and it was too loud and there was no privavcy as it was right beside main building . @cnd room in 500's was much better,, but the wild life (especially the woodpeckers woke me. That was ok I got used to it real quick once I realized it wasn't in the room with me (very loud).
My complaint about the rooms is that they were very small, with little place to put stuff and that they were poorly lit.
I also got covered in bug bites, even with bug spray. I think it was alot from the beach. The spray I had only had a deet of 7. I found a 14 after we went to Ocho Rios (didn't need it there as there was less vegetation and I stayed off the beach -it wasn't as nice and I didn't want more bites). So bring something with a high deet.
The staff was wonderful, very friendly, always singing. Genuinely happy.
The walk to beach was no problem at all and the beach was fantastic. Beautiful clear blue water and nice sand. I love that they didn't get rid of the vegetation as alot of the other resorts did on the same beach. The vedors were not as bad as I thought. Yes there are many, but they are not pushy like in Mexico or elsewhere. The musicians will still gladly play for you even if you tell them you hav no money ( we didn't think to bring any), which made me actually glad to give them some. Phenomenal sunset.
Food was ok. The lighting in both restaurants was very poor. I personnalIy like to see my food, especially at a buffet so I can decifer what is what and where the fat is on the meat.
I am not a buffet person so would have liked more options for dinner. Some reviewers said that they didn't like the Lotus Leaf. I thought it was pretty good, better than the buffet. It is fine dining which I like. They give exceptional service, unlike many Canadain rest. The food was not exceptional, but I enjoyed it.
Very quiet in the evenings but I liked that. We only went to see the piano man who plays a few times a week. He was excellent. Great to watch and listen to while drinking a Martini. Piano is not my type of thing, but he gets the audience involved and he is quite funny. We made sure that we were there was ever he was in residence. '
On the whole I would come back and stay. I would probably just go out for dinner a few times..we usually do when we go all inclusive, but for some reason didn't think about it on this vacation.

Room Tip: Away from the road- very loud

We have just returned from Sunset at the Palms (10-17 March 2012) and had a superb holiday. The hotel was immaculate, had beautiful gardens, very friendly staff and brilliant food. Absolutely everything was included (no catches) all food, all drinks, at the hotel and at the beach, all(non motorised) water sports, and even a hospitality room to use before our flight home. The bedrooms were spacious and had good quality furniture and were surrounded by stunning grounds (and not a bug in-sight!). All you could hear was the sound of the bird song and insects! But do request a room away from the road and the bar in block 400 or 500 to ensure the quietest location. The staff couldn't do enough to please us and all seemed genuinely happy which was a refreshing change. In our week we sailed the hobie cats everyday, canoed, played tennis, ran on the beach, water-skiied and jet-skiied and enjoyed lots of reggae beats curtesy of the local guitarist Donovan Dalrymple-such a dude!! We would definitely recommend this holiday to couples seeking a chilled week with lots of fun available.

Room Tip: Block 400 and 500 are the quietest. 409, 412, 413 have the best sunrise views.
