As we were going to be in Negril during low season, we made sure to ask in advance of going whether they'd be open during our trip. The answer was yes, so we contacted them again 48 hours before going. The answer was still yes. We contacted them the day of, and the answer was still yes, so we made plans with the taxi and some friends. 90 minutes later, they messaged to say they had "just learnt" repairs were being made that day and so they would be closed!!!!! Completely unacceptable!

Just wow! We loved our entire experience at Half Moon Beach and Calico Jack’s Pirate Shack. Tania greeted us with a friendly smile and cold Red Stripe then gave us a quick tour of the cute cottages and different areas of the beach. After hanging out, Michael took us over by boat to Calico Jacks Bar where he had more cold Red Stripe Hooray Beer for us! What an interesting soul, truly enlightened. He appreciates everything life brings him no matter how big or small. We were both entranced by his message of respect, love, happiness, and truth. It was so inspiring I got down on one knee and tearfully proposed to my girl, who said yes…. I have been coming to JA since 1990. If you want to experience a truly simple Jamaican way of “One Love”, this is it!

We came out to Calico Jack's for a few hours after snorkeling at Half Moon Beach. It was super chilled, very laid back vibe. The captain was short staffed that day, so it was a bit of an off day, but there was beer and lunch. The portions for lunch were MASSIVE, enough to split a plate between two people. Bring cash, there is no credit card machine available. There was someone that had brought a personal speaker to play music on, which was nice. I would come back for another relaxing day!

Friendly people. 5 minute boat shuttle to island. Drinks and BBQ if you order in advance. VERY loud music playing all the time. The day I went there was a strong wind blowing (probably common) and two or three BBQ grills were going...bring goggles or sit out of the ash / ember storm. Small place, no water activities available yet. The beach back at shore was quiet and nice. Restaurant and gift shop. Romantic out of the way spot for a wedding or event.
