Description: Since our beginning in 1972 we strived to provide the best products to our new clients as well as to those that visit us on a regular basis. Even those travelers that during their brief stay in Puerto Rico, step out of the airport and visit us just to have a taste of the wonderfull things that they have heard of “La España”. Our menu is one that holds and respects an enormous tradition. From our daily baked bread to our coffee served hot every time. From our sandwiches made with the best products to that pastry that melts in your mouth. From that exquisite seafood paella, to that our very traditional galician soup. Many recepies come from past genetations and others we have given a personal twist, this way offering a unique product to those that enjoy our delicious variety. Our passion for quality is what drives us. We are in a constant lookout for better ingredients and products so we can always guarantee our best to every customer.

This place is outstanding they have a great selection of pastries, great deli for sandwiches on fresh baked bread and awesome hot Puerto Rican food. They also have a huge selection of wines. I know that you will order pastries to go I just know you will.

Great Spanish food as well as local delights. Huge variety of pastries and desserts and awesome Puerto Rican coffee. A nice deli area for your cheese and cold meat needs. The sandwiches are very, very good. Parking is a bit limited and chaotic and it does get very busy at breakfast and lunchtime. Nevertheless, a great place. Staff is friendly and courteous. Highly recommend this place.

Even though it looks full with a lot of cars they work fast and serve people in a timely manner.Caldo gallego and the Fabada they are earthy fresh and rich soups to complement with any selection of either sandwiches or any lunch dishes. We always come as a family for the “quesitos”, croquettes and for the diverse selection of pastries and desserts. If you are coffee drinkers like we are it’s strong creamy and tastes delicious.
They have a big selection of red and white wines from Spain and they are good pair with the variety of tapas from manchego cheese ,chorizo, “ jamón ibérico “, and different seafood salads. The seafood is fresh and cooked well like any seafood restaurant.

So let's start with the fact that I go back to Puerto Rico all the time after moving to the States to go to college 25+ years ago! Probably because I am paying attention to the busy road but I never paid attention to this place. Luckily a friend of mine who visited the island suggested it and this last time we visited 4 times! All the traditional Puerto Rican pastries and sandwiches are available and delicious, but the star of the show is the Mayorca bread! Toasted with butter with a cafe con leche is the perfect start to the day!

This is our favorite spot in San Juan for an affordable and great quality breakfast or quick lunch. The selection of pastries, sandwiches, seafood salads and coffee is amazing. You just can't beat the quality of the food and friendly staff so instead of paying those crazy prices at the hotel for breakfast, take the ride to this incredible old school bakery. Portions are huge and you must try El Caldo Gallego. Spanish style soup.. You will thank me...
