My out of town nephew and his fiancée decided to get married there. Big mistake! Service in general sucks. Nice but inexperienced servers/waitresses who were a bit overwhelmed. The hotel was in the middle of a renovation that was not disclosed at the time the contracts were signed. There was a power outage and there was no generator, no safety lights no security. The hotel was full, the pool was full of children and all this was happening at dusk/light. No management person showed up at any time. Money should be refunded.

Stayed in room 137 Sheets and towels had holes in them. Sink takes a very long time to drain toilet does not flush properly. second day no towels available. Pool area is ok. Panorama Resuturant is ok but chef uses to much salt. Will not go back unless its free.

Room Tip: go elsewhere

Ponce is a beautiful city decimated by attempts to restore history. This hotel is a prime example. This beauty has had multiple facelifts and needs one now.

The good is it's right on the plaza. There's a tour bus for $2 that will take you around the city. The ice cream parlor is crowded at breakfast time. The street food is plentiful and cheap.

The rooftop restaurant serves amazing food. I had scallops, steak, and cerviche on my 3 visits there.

Live music and a bar overlooking Ponce.

This hotel made me consider pulling out my travel sheets.

After a look around this is the best place to stay.

We just returned from 3 wonderful days at the historic Melia hotel in Ponce. Needless to say it was fantastic. The location is perfect for exploring Ponce's many museums, attractions, and restaurants around the downtown square. Although it was our third visit in 20 years, this one occurred under the newest management. There is sn intense desire from their part to allow the guest to relive some of the century old glam this hotel has had. We were given one of the centennial type rooms, remodeled with the original architecture and decor. It was fantastic to have high ceilings, natural bathroom exhaust, and the original street balcony for a morning read. The lobby and some of the service areas need work, but progress can be seen as we explored the hotel. Great rates, staff, and service to the customer. As we celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary during our stay, the front desk staff went out of their way to prepare the best room possible with wine and rose petals. Thanks Gladys for your kindness and great care! We recommend this hotel without reservation.

This is the worst hotel i stayed in. Its very old and did not look like the pictures. Our room smelled and the sheets were old and dirty. Front desk was nice, nice view to the plaza out front but the whole hotel needs to be remodeled.
