We had a wonderful, comfortable stay at Hacienda Tamarindo.

Our room was a two-bedroom suite in the villa, which is located just down the hill from the main property. It was like having our own home on the island, with a carport and full (and nicely equipped) kitchen where we made dinners in a couple nights. It has a lovely wrap-around porch where we sat and enjoyed the sea breeze and stunning views of the ocean off in the near distance. Blissful!

The folks who run the place — namely Maria and Jose — were so nice and helpful. The ladies who served breakfast were great, too. The morning meals were delicious and quite substantial, including eggs prepared in a variety of ways, three kinds of meat, fruit, juice and a special plate each morning, which included pancakes, a breakfast panini and a skillet hash while we were there.

The property also offers several amenities that run the gamut from luxurious (the pool is a stunner!) to downright helpful (beach chairs!). There are also a few handy paid services, like an honor bar stocked with wine, beer and several cocktail fixings, as well as pop, chips, water and even sunblock and bug spray.

We look forward to returning to Hacienda Tamarindo — and that cozy little villa — very soon.

Once we navigated actually getting onto the island, everything else went smoothly. Luckily we were allowed to check in earlyand after a brief but informative tour of the property, headed down to the beach. They had all the amenities we required and then some. I would highly recommend this hotel for your bio-luminescent excursion.

We had such a relaxing stay at Hacienda Tamarindo. The view overlooking the ocean is beautiful and everything felt quiet and tranquil. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have talked about coming back for a longer trip!

We originally tried to stay at a fancy, uber-modern hotel but it was booked. Then we found Hacienda Tamarindo! High up on a hill, with ocean waves crashing behind hind it! Nice sized rooms, breakfast served in the morning and an honor bar/snack room (The Library). We could also check out gear for swimming, scuba, bug spray and beach chairs - super convenient.

Friendly staff, ownersvLinda and Burr - all made us feel welcome. Lots of tile, arches, fun artwork and great views. Nice pool, hammocks, a tamarind tree growing up thru the middle of the hacienda (don't forget to try tamarind, weird fuzzy pod, tart-tangy fruit and beautiful pits/seeds that look like polished stone). You can also bring your pets!!

The Hacienda Tamarindo is located on a quiet hill, but you can quickly get to active bars and restaurants in just a few minutes. We rented a jeep from Maritza's Car Rental (there might be taxis and the front desk can arrange for transportation - contact them for details BUT you will want your own vehicle).

My daughter and I stayed there in mid March for 4 nights. We were in the first floor, Rooms were spacious and clean. We did not have to put the AC on except one night. You can open windows and get a nice breeze. Pay attention to mosquitos . Last night , with just one mosquito in the room was miserable. The staff was amazing and super helpful especially when we complained one night about some young loud group at night. The view is outstanding from one of the balconies in lobby. The only thing that may need a bit of improvement probably would be their breakfast. It is very good but it would be nice to have some variety from day to day.
If you happen to be there on a tuesday, make sure you visit the fresh market about 8 min drive or so. There is a baker there that sells outstanding goodies. That was our breakfast and lunch for a couple of days.

Room tip: We were in the first floor. would opt for 2nd flor next time
