An out of the way guest house that is tremendous value for money. All the basics are there but the attention of the staff made this a great experience the Sunset Lounge overlooks the bay at Castries and you can watch the sun go down with a cold beer! Definitely recommended if you are going to fly out of the LIAT airport.

I stayed 2 nighs at Casa del vega. The room was simple, not very new but clean and cheap. The pros with this guesthouse are most certainly the view from the balcony situated in the common room, and the kindness of the owner who drove us to the city for free. When you know how much cabdrivers want to charge you over there, you realize it was quite nice from here !

We were looking for somewhere in Castries at short notice and were very pleased to have found Casa del Vega. There weren't really any options we could find right in the centre of town (we had to leave the next morning) but the owner picked us up from the ferry, and even drove us to a restaurant and picked us up after, and drove us to the bus the next morning - what service! Our room was good, really comfortable and good value. There was a lovely view from the balcony of the hotel which we enjoyed over a beer after we arrived and then over breakfast the next morning. Recommended.

We got one of the smaller top floor rooms due to an error with our booking that was no fault of the owner Merlyn who did her best to ensure that we had a great stay and we did. That room actually had excellent water pressure and abundant hot water.
Our stay was just one night because we selected the hotel for its proximity to the airport (SLU) that we were departing from. It was an easy 10 minute walk from the airport along a quiet road.
Taxis are easy to get at the airport. For cheap local buses, the main road is just an extra 5 to 10 min walk from there. Had we known how it easy it was to get around this way, we would have stayed here for our whole trip and seen more than just Soufriere.
The centre of Castries is actually in walking distance too if you have the time and want to reap the benefits of walking (estimate is not more than 5 Km). And if you happen to be a runner, the area around the hotel is ideal for hill training. We met someone who was actually training for the London marathon.
But it was the hospitality of Merlyn that really added something that one would be hard pressed to find in a larger hotel.....the personal touch that comes with smaller family run businesses.

We first chose Casa del Vega a year ago because of the price point. We prefer not to say in resort accommodations and Casa del Vega offered exactly what we were looking for: gorgeous views, peaceful evenings, a short walk to access public transportation, and friendly and helpful staff. The additional perks were the owner Merlyn who welcomed us with open arms, took us to get groceries, and treated us like one of the family. In fact, our experience was so good that even though we try to never return to the same place twice, we were back again this year. Merlyn outdid herself my arranging some special events for us and by giving us the best accommodations in the place. Another bonus is that the Casa draws people like us - people who prefer to spend time away from tourist attractions experiencing the culture. On both trips we had wonderful conversations with travelers from around the world. It's true that sometimes the water was scarce, but we were able to work around that and all of the other amenities more than made up for the little inconvenience. Also be aware that while the property does have its own private beach, it is stony making it a bit of a challenge to get into the fantastically blue water. A long stretch of public beach is only a 5 minute walk away. I am recommending Casa del Vega to all of my friends!
