This was our third stay and again it was completely perfect.
We are already booked for next year as we know we will have the best holiday we could have. Why go anywhere else when it would be second best!
As soon as the taxi approaches the familiar entrance we know we have returned to our holiday heaven. Our third visit was all the more exciting as we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed. We were greeted delightfully with a cold towel and a chilled glass of champagne and we then proceeded to be shown to our usual, as requested, superior cottage. The superior cottages are luxurious and the installed air conditioning this year was a welcome addition. Each year a few things change but only for the added comfort of the guest; the fundamental values of the resort remain untouched and are not to be faulted.
The grounds are exquisite and the gardeners do a marvellous job at maintaining all the natural beauty and each day we marvel at a certain plant or tree we had not spotted previously. The beach area is picture perfect and the pool area is delightful.
The food is plentiful and the best we have ever tasted. Aunty Paula is just lovely and makes the best breakfasts in the world with so much choice and variety. Lunches are superb and either a BBQ or buffet but always delicious and we always indulge despite still being full from breakfast but we cannot resist the temptation! Saturday lunches are fabulous fun with accompaniment from the steel band.
Dinners are our absolute favourite time of the day, the restaurant transforms into a candlelit magical place (it is extremely beautiful throughout the day too). The musicians who play are exceptionally talented and they compliment the delicate ambiance perfectly. The four course meals are always delectable and complimented throughout by a plentiful supply of good quality wine.
The drink choice is immense and we enjoy a luxurious pre and after dinner drink or two every evening whether it is a lovingly prepared cocktail or a chilled champagne. During the day we have delicious milkshakes; scrumptious cocktails and rosé wine; you can have anything you desire.
Now, everything mentioned so far is wonderful but the real beauty of Eastwinds Inn is the staff. They all truly make the holiday an exceptional experience and one we dream of throughout the year. The service and attitude is incomparable and I do have to mention a few names. We spent fun and memorable evenings enjoying Titus’s expertly made cocktails and great company; he is a marvellous asset to Eastwinds Inn and we miss the laughs we shared. Hanna is a competition winner in cocktail making and a winner in our eyes for being totally lovely. We appreciate Windel’s kindness and the ability to always make us laugh. Kerwin; Hague and Ellie are all superb and Mavis is an amazing waitress. The attention to detail within the service offered is truly outstanding and friendly without being intrusive.
We do not like big hotels with many restaurants and timed dining and we would have never dreamt of utilising a children’s club; holidays are about spending time together and there is nowhere better to do so and have a true chill out experience. We do not require discos and all night parties but we do have exceptional fun throughout the holiday. My son enjoyed the table tennis this year and several members of staff played with him in their own time and this was very touching. He enjoyed the water sport facilities that are on offer but like us, preferred to relax on the beach more than anything!
The guests all have a similar agenda and the majority of them are like minded individuals who enjoy the finer things in life.
There is no reason why you would not be able to totally relax soaking in all the wonderful Caribbean surroundings whilst being completely pampered and feeling entirely content at East Winds Inn.
We are completely missing this beautiful place and now look forward to next August!

LUXURIOUS REVIEW MOST GREATLY APPRECIATED

From your opening sentence to the confirmation of your return visit next year, we could not ask for a more generous and fulfilling review for all the East Winds Team to be so proud of. Thank you for providing such a detailed and appreciative recap of your third experience at East Winds Inn – which clearly made a positive impression on you once again. The ability to identify so many individual staff members who helped make your holiday so memorable is just one example of the ways in which guests such as you, who are clearly outgoing, can integrate with the people who make East Winds Inn what it really is.

Your appreciation of the fine four course dinners in the “magical” open air dining room, the sounds of the talented musicians, the lushness of the beautiful gardens, the natural splendour of the beach, and the quality of fellow guests is also noted. In the end however, you go back to the staff, repeating – “Now, everything mentioned so far is wonderful but the real beauty of East Winds Inn is the staff. They all truly make the holiday an exceptional experience and one we dream of throughout the year.” Those words mean so much to everyone, but your commitment to already return next year really says it all.

Thank you for your ongoing support of East Winds Inn, and we look forward to see you coming down the road to paradise once again. Your friends will be waiting with open arms.

Warm regards,

We went here last year for our honeymoon and when I am having a bad day I still look at the photos, read about it and imagine going back! It really IS as good as all the excellent reviews on here. The quiet ambience, amazing and varied food, lovely air conditioned rooms and most of all friendly staff made it a holiday to remember. We were even given a complimentary bottle of champagne as a honeymoon gift!
The entertainment at the restaurant in the evenings is also worth a mention, paticularly the piano player who can take requests. The setting of having dinner by the sea, listening to the piano with amazing food was the best.
This is a peaceful Carribean retreat so if you are looking for an ibiza-type club 18-30 experience this is not for you! If you are looking to relax, get away from it all, eat great food and be well looked after this is for you.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good and close a few steps from the beach

THANK YOU FOR THE LOVELY HONEYMOON REVIEW

We read with great interest, your touching review stating that whenever you were having a bad day, you would simply drift back to the time spent during your honeymoon at East Winds Inn. Thank you for being so candid about your experience – that is the sign of a good holiday when the memories carry on for eternity. What is even more impressive is that you are rated as a Contributor on this website, having posted 20 reviews in a total of 13 cities. This suggests you are well travelled, and your expectations are genuine and realistic, to the point where East Winds Inn clearly pleased you to post such a favourable review.

To state that East Winds “really IS as good as all the excellent reviews on here” is extremely gratifying for everyone at the resort, especially for the friendly staff who made it a holiday to remember. We are so pleased that you experienced the open air dining by the sea to the sounds of our concert Steinway grand piano played by our talented musicians. This too is one of our favourite aspects of the resort.

Thank you for such a wonderful review and we sincerely hope to see you back at the small resort with a big heart for an early anniversary treat. We wish you all the health and happiness in your new lives together.

We have just returned from two weeks in heaven! East Winds truly is a magical place for a holiday – from the moment we arrived we felt special and cared for – nothing was too much trouble for the lovely people who work here. We loved our room – a deluxe cottage at the top of the garden – quiet and secluded with air conditioning and a huge ceiling fan which kept us just the right temperature, especially at night. The bedroom and bathroom were immaculate and the sunken shower with open windows and vigorous shower was a real treat. The bed was large and extremely comfortable; we slept very well on the crisp cotton sheets (wonderful for a confirmed insomniac like me!) We made good use of the constantly refilled fridge on the veranda and especially enjoyed sitting out there through the occasional tropical downpour.
The beach was beautiful, as were the gardens which we wandered through each morning to get down there. We never had a problem getting sun loungers with good shade and were able to sit for hours reading and strolling to the bar for any cocktail we could dream up! We particularly enjoyed a snorkelling trip on the hobbycat with one of the excellent water sports guys. The sea was crystal clear and the colours of the fish and coral will live long in the memory. As will the family of cuttlefish we followed as they lazily swam along the reef.
The food was amazing! Paula did a wonderful job of cooking all sorts of eggs and other treats to order at breakfast – but the other staff also looked after us beautifully providing whatever we needed from an essential cup of tea to the weird and wonderful health drink of the day!! Our favourite meal of the day was lunch – we just loved the variety and quality of the different dishes. We ate most of our lunches in one of the lovely beach gazebos which were a very short walk from the restaurant; cooled by a gentle breeze drifting off the Caribbean and the staff ensuring we were always always very nicely cared for with drinks and ice cream, it made a lovely relaxing place to eat lunch. Our very favourite was the Saturday lunch with the sounds of the steel band to entertain us together with a fabulous international buffet – the paella was delicious and raclette just a treat (especially with a slice of Palma ham!!) Barbeques in the huge barbeque pit were also something to savour. The dining room was transformed in the evenings with soft lighting and relaxing music as we were served fabulous four course gourmet meals and paired wines. Our glass of champagne and a chat with the other guests got us in the mood for dinner before we went into the dining room to try all sorts of sumptuous dishes – the fish is just wonderful – and we enjoyed tasting and trying a wide range of wines – they serve so many that everyone should find something they like! The nights when Dien played on the Steinway piano were absolutely magical. When we finished our meal we wandered into the Bamboo Lounge for a night cap, a chat to Titus and to listen to him play until he finished – what a treat!
To make up for the excesses of food and drink we went to all the Pilates and yoga classes that were held while we were there. As complete beginners we were grateful to Nikita and Jill for looking after us so nicely – and despite their diminutive size they were both able to get my 6ft 3inch husband into all the required positions. We both felt refreshed and 3ins taller after taking part and could then smugly return to our sunbeds for the rest of the day!!
We had a wonderful time – the staff as it has been said over and over again are completely amazing – genuinely nice people who make everyone feel special – from the lovely people who serve in the bars and restaurant to the kind staff in the reception, ladies who clean and tidy the rooms and the gents who maintain the gardens and rooms in the resort – thank you to each and every one of you. It was a completely stress free two weeks of heaven. We can’t wait to come again someday.
I need to also mention the other guests as they too added so much to our holiday. The age range was broad – newlyweds, honeymooners, young families, teenagers, working couples and older people – but everyone was friendly – we felt like we were at some cosmopolitan house party rather than holidaying with strangers. Everyone I spoke to had interesting stories from many countries around the world, whether it was sitting in the pool, sharing a chat over afternoon tea or exotic cocktail, or comparing notes over a glass of champagne at the end of a long day. We all enjoyed the relaxed entertainment and great company.
For any intrepid travellers who are thinking of coming to St Lucia and East Winds some things which also added to our enjoyment: the helicopter transfers from/to the airport were worth the money, although they are not sightseeing tours they do save so much time driving the length of the island when you have had a long journey; we really enjoyed a quiet trip to explore Pigeon Island and a visit to the Jambe de Bois Bar was a nice diversion; and a manicure and pedicure on the veranda at the hotel was a lovely treat. Taking a mixture of US$ and EC$ is useful when paying for things – you will always get your change in EC$.
We are already planning and saving for our next trip and our teenage son is very keen to come with us next time!

THANK YOU FOR THE INCREDIBLY KIND, 300TH FIVE STAR REVIEW

Where to begin? This has to rate as one of the most authentic and “feeling” reviews received by East Winds Inn for a very long time – it is so obvious that you have discovered the essence of the small resort with a big heart, as we like to say. Your detailed and meaningful descriptions of so many aspects of your holiday truly are worthwhile reading, ranging from the crisp Italian cotton sheets to your performances at the yoga and Pilates classes. The kind words about the food and beverage, entertainment, activities and the resort itself are also most pleasing. These are all so observant and helpful for would-be guests of East Winds, and we thank you for the effort you have placed in communicating your experience.

Two points we would like to highlight however, which you so graciously make, are as follows:

The Staff – you have clearly identified the most important aspect of the East Winds experience, our wonderful and truly caring staff, who do their utmost to ensure that everyone has a wonderful vacation whilst visiting the beautiful island of St. Lucia and East Winds Inn. There are 84 lovely people who cheerfully carry out their duties in this idyllic place – and each and every one of them is genuine and caring.

The Guests – your acknowledgement of the incredibly diverse and interesting nature of our guests is so welcomed and appreciated. After all, it is not only the staff and the resort itself which one needs to interact with, there are also the guests – and none are better than those who regularly come to East Winds. We are fortunate to have a very high ratio of repeat guests at East Winds – some of whom have been coming for over 25 years. Over 50% of our first time guests return – many time and time again – and most people say this is for good reason. In the hospitality business, repeat guests say a lot for an establishment, and we thank all of you for speaking on our behalf.

I would encourage any would-be guest considering coming to East Winds Inn to read this review very carefully, for it is filled with useful and authentic information written by a Senior Reviewer on this website, and we are most thankful for that as well. To have received 300 five star reviews from a total of 347 reviews overall is truly gratifying, and represents a milestone we will all look forward to maintaining.

We look forward to welcoming you back for another “Holiday in Paradise” – you have made a great number of people very proud and happy to have served you.

Warm regards,

We travelled with our 10 year old daughter towards the end of the summer holidays and having read numerous reviews of East Winds were really looking forward to it but cautious that our daughter would be the only young one there. We were pleasantly surprised to find that a few families had chosen the hotel and making new friends really helped to make the trip special for her, and also for us. The hobie cat, kayaks and pedalo proved irresistible and the children spent hours enjoying them. The beach staff were fantastic, helping us all to enjoy the watersports.

On arrival we were a little worried as the entrance doesn't seem to be much but once in the grounds you realise that the resort is beautifully low key. An arrival tour by the reception staff helped us to settle in and our room was perfect with plenty of room for the additional bed. The hotel quickly provided mosquito nets when we explained that our daughter can have an adverse reaction to bites.

Food, as mentioned by almost all the reviews is wonderful, well thought out and served with lovely wines. All the restaurant staff were lovely and the happily pulled together a 'kids table' for the children to enjoy an evening together. Given the responsibility they all lived up to it acting like mini adults.

We tried a few trips while we were there and by far the best was that on the caribbean sloop 'good expectation' with Jus Sail. We found them on trip advisor and spent a day sailing and enjoying local snacks anchored just offshore from East Winds.

All in all we had a great time, even with tropical storm Issac passing over us, although some guests seemed to hunker down in their rooms. The hotel is lovely although they will need to ensure that they do not become blasé about their excellent reviews as there was a feeling that service slipped slightly in the second week and some areas seemed a little uncared for e.g. What appeared to be a disused bar at the edge of he beach. Also whie I enjoyed doing yoga each morning in the pavilion this great space seems sadly unused for much of the time. Would we recommend it, yes, would we go back, probably but not definitely.

PERFECT (ALMOST) REVIEW APPRECIATED

We greatly appreciate the detailed and candid review of your family holiday with your 10 year old daughter at East Winds Inn. Your recognition of the low key nature of the place is perfect, as that is what we are striving for. Our entrance sign itself rivals any resort’s in St. Lucia as you likely noted, but then the innocuous and bumpy gravel road to the actual gate is designed to get you back to the feel of the true Caribbean. Of course, as you point out, the property then becomes a magical place of lush tropical gardens sprinkled with gingerbread fretted bungalows and original styled African roundivilles. We are glad you enjoyed the beach as well as all the activities, and your appreciation of the food, wine and service is also gratefully acknowledged.

The disused bar on the beach you mention is actually used many times in high season, and it is during these times that you can obtain a drink right above the crashing surf to watch the sunset. The heavy salt air and water spray do take their toll on this intimate little place, but each year it is freshened up for a variety of guests to enjoy. We can assure you that the excellent reviews, like yours, only help to boost staff morale, and we are pleased that you have provided such valued comments.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences, and we certainly do hope that you will return again in order that we can even exceed your expectations at East Winds Inn.

First time in the Caribbean. Loved the place and the staff were exceptional. All of them were extremely friendly. The rooms were clean and well fitted out. The food was fantastic with so much choice- loved the barbeques. We even tried the fitness trail to work off some of the food! The beach staff were great and took us snorkelling to a great bay where we were shown all sorts of beautiful fish etc. Being a small resort everyone got to know everyone else so the atmosphere was very friendly all round. I would certainly recommend this resort to others. Not for those wanting an action packed full on family holiday but to sample the island and have a relaxing holiday it was perfect.

Room Tip: Choose a room with air conditioning. Certainly those without envied us at times!

THANKS FOR THE FANTASTIC REVIEW

We greatly appreciate your enthusiastic review of the time you spent at East Winds Inn, during your first visit to the Caribbean. Your recognition of all the aspects of the resort are noted, especially of the “exceptional staff – all of them were extremely friendly”. Acknowledgement of the friendly atmosphere and the fun activities in which you partook is also noted, and the fact you would certainly recommend the resort to others is very gratifying for us. We thank you for that.

On the point of air conditioning, we now have a total of 26 of our 30 cottage style rooms with air conditioning installed, so it should not be too difficult to beat the heat if the Caribbean Sea breezes are not enough to keep you cool.

We hope to see you again soon, and thank you for your support of East Winds Inn.
