Ok location is good, rooms ok as per 3+star rating, clean, very quiet never stayed in a place that sound proof. Beach great. Then....sorry food not great was better at the next door place BelAir. Bar Gizmo's expensive and $7. ice slurpy with a shot sitll an ice slurpy that is not right. Ten $ a nite extra to have a fridge in room was not a nice surprise at all. Maid service great. TV normal. Deli & coffee too expensive and better at BelAir. Many Promos but put on by time share crews., but only suttle pressures. Can Walk into Philllip[s burg easily if your fit. Safe and secure Yes.. Good family place, Ok beach chairs is an early AM hustle. Snorkling not great..

Room Tip: Second floor hotel rooms were quiet, beds of course are firm.No problem

The hotel is dated and could use an infusion of cash to bring bathrooms, decor, etc. up to a better level, but the location is great, we got a great price, and the beach facilities are exceptional. Our room had a wonderful view and we were close enough to walk to town if we wanted to. All employees were friendly and very proud of their island, which was quite refreshing. But don`t expect fast service or quick responses. We asked for more hangers from housekeeping 4 days in a row and never got them, usually had to ask for shampoo or soap to replenish what we had used, and food and beverage servers pretty much had their own pace. Not rude, just island time. Food on the property was okay, with bar food items the most consistent, and the drinks were generous and dirt cheap, even cheaper at happy hour. Overall, a most enjoyable vacation on a beautiful island, and yes, we would go back and we would stay at divi again. If you go, be prepared to slow down and adjust to island time.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view fo the little bay, not of Phillisburg or request a casita.

We came here last year and really liked the resort so we traded our time share and returned.
Time share staff never seem to have the same pleasant attitude regular hotels have. We loved our room, again, with a better balcony view right over ocean. We had an unusual amount of missing or broken items( no soap, shower curtain, blanket, broken clock and fridge) They could not take care of this quickly enough and with apologies and SMILES!! The place is spotless and very well kept.We look forwarding to returning next year

Room Tip: Ask for patio with railing balcony, last year balcony was all stucko and could not see ocean when si...

We visited Divi over Thanksgiving Week with my husband, two teen girls, and my parents. We went as guests of another family, which allowed us to get a FANTASTIC deal on the studio rooms that we stayed in. Divi put us up at the top of the resort, by the negative edge pool (my friend requested this location).

Rooms:
We stayed in a Studio. It was large, but the 4 of us quickly filled it! The bathrooms are HUGE and I recommend storing your luggage in there to free up space in the rest of the room. Our second floor room had a view over a water feature that flowed into the pool-this was beautiful, but noisy. At times it was nice, as it blocked out resort sound, but at other times it seemed really loud. Our 3 rooms were all next to each other, which was great and allowed us to see a 1 bedroom. They are MASSIVE and offer privacy for parents along with space for kids (of for 2 couples, etc). The bed was very comfortable, but the pull out couch is not. Our rooms were clean, but we did see tiny tiny tiny ants occasionally by the sliders - it's an island so this is to be expected. My mom's room did have a mildew smell, but not enough that she wanted to move. We enjoyed having the kitchens, as it allowed us to make our own breakfasts and lunches. We did cook dinner 1 night, but typically went out for dinner.

Resort:
Nice layout. There are stairs and a hill but I recommend climbing it to go visit the fort. The view up there is spectacular! We spent the day on the beach, which is well maintained, clean, and has a lovely view. Also, you are rarely approached to purchase things so it was relaxing and comfortable. Gizmo's bar is right on the beach, and we did have drinks and snacks from there. Typical beach bar food, but go and check out Gizmo the parrot-it's her bar! You can bring your own drinks onto the beach. For sunset, we would go up to the negative edge pool that is hidden at the top of the resort. This is the nicest pool on the property, but out of the way (great for privacy, not so great if your room is far away). There are 2 or 3 other pools, but I didn't spend any time at them.

Service:
I found all of the staff to be great. They move at a slower pace, but that is Island Time! Relax and get into their groove, and you will be just fine. We did have one day where there was no water in the entire resort (it's an Island, it can happen). The staff was great-they kept us informed and the manager gave every guest room a $50.00 credit for the inconvenience.

Island:
We had a rental car and did go out into St. Maartin. The traffic heading over to the French Side was AWFUL which was a shame. Hopefully they will clear it up soon - watch the blogs here. They were so helpful to us to know what to expect. It is a LOVELY island.

Overall:
Recommend Divi, it's a comfortable well run place. Be realistic about your expectations - it's not 5 star, but it is lovely and elegant. Go off site for dinner, the food it too good on the Island to miss it!

Room Tip: Ask for the units at the top of the hill

15 minute walk to town with lots of shops, board walk with food aand bars. The resort had a nice beach, fitness room at no cost, rooms old but the bed was nice with the softest sheets around. There was a hot tub and several pools. Deli and bar with good food at a reaasonable price. You could book dive trips et. from aqua maina at the beach.

The squeaky wheel gets the good room!

Not realizing there was such a large disparity between rooms, I didn't specify a renovated room when we booked. The first room we were offered, (ocean view beach front) sounded great but ended up being unrenovated, smelled of mold and had broken particle board in the bathroom. No thanks!

The front desk couldn't have been nicer in helping us relocate to a better room (Thanks Elvis!) We upgraded $20 +/– a night and got a beautifully renovated studio with a big terrace with a gorgeous view of Little Bay. (Big Bay/Phillipsburg side was definitely windier than Little Bay, and you can see the cruise ships leaving on Little Bay too!)

A great place to spend a week doing nothing but eating/drinking and floating in the pool or turquoise water.

Room was worn-out! Nice bay and beach, however, the room was the worst I have had in 10 years of travel. Main restaurant was closed. The beach bar was okay. I paid $1600 for 5 nights. Advice to the owners and management: Shut down and remodel the hotel portion! Uff Dah! I understand the timeshare portion is nice. Use those units until the hotel units are livable!

Room Tip: Ask for a timeshare unit!
