We had a delicious breakfast, and it happened to be the most reasonably priced meal we had all week. I highly recommend the Bavarian style pancakes, and my wife raved about the french toast.

One of our favorite places to have lunch when we are in St. Martin. Established in 1904, the Pasanggrahan, which means guesthouse in Indonesian, has a rich and colorful history. A rooster farm, a governor's residence as well as a residence for the Dutch Royal family. It stands proudly as the oldest hotel on Sint Maarten and still retains its West-Indies colonial style. Dining here, one really feels the spirits of the past as the interior is adorned with antiques and period pieces. Once inside, you lose yourself in the peacefulness away from the bustling scene of Phillpsburg. The fish dishes are fresh, the tuna salad plentiful and fresh, everything we have ever had has been good. If you do happen into this gem, please say hello to Donnit for me. She has worked there for 24 years and is a delight. Many regulars return every year just to say hello to her and give her a hug.

If you are on a cruise and want to go to the closest beach, you can walk (which is what we did). If you do that you run the gamut of reps from various businesses trying to draw you in (which happened). Nick ("security" with Pasanggraham) urged us to try his umbrella and lounge chairs (which we did) We were charged $15. Be prepared to be approached by lovely ladies plying their wares (beach towels, jewelry, filmy tops, massage)

We do like this stretch of beach. Staying at the Psanngrahm Royal Guesthouse might be a very interesting experience. I did check out the menu and thought prices were a little high, although portions looked quite satisfactory.

Stayed at the Pasanggrahan Hotel and had a really lovely stay, WE at eta the restaurant on our first night and we were very hungry. Welcomed the big portions of freshly cooked hot food and the service from the staff was just right.
