Stayed here April 22 - 29, 2017. Booked as a last minute with Transat Holidays. Let me tell you, i know this island well, and we always rent a car and dont usually spend much time in the hotel - so since we hadn't been to St Maarten/Martin this year, i figured cheap package - let's do it. Well, as i tell my clients - you get what you pay for. The location - it's not too bad, great view overlooking the harbour - if you must stay here, book the seaview room, otherwise you are overlooking the noisy road. The beach is rocky and small, not for laying out - but we knew that and figured it was still good as a base camp hotel.
So here are the big issues - the beds - hard as a rock, very old and uncomfortable, the rooms - very dated, which in itself is not a big deal BUT it stunk - not just old stale cigarette smoke stink - it was sewage stink!! everytime we walked into the room we groaned, it was pretty awful. The breakfast - we made the mistake of paying extra to include breakfast - well our first morning we knew it was a big mistake. It was the same sparse buffet everyday, and the food was not good. I think they were trying to go for french style scrambled eggs, but to me they tasted like egg yolks from a hard boiled egg. If they left the pastries uncovered the birds were picking at them. The chairs in the "dining area" are a white plastic that is peeling, so we had to wipe each others backs after sitting down. Trust me you have two fabulous french bakeries within walking distance - go there for breakfast.
Even though we were on a package Transat noted there was a local hotel tax - it was an extra EU5 a day !! but i didnt know how much it was until we checked out.
Only 1 english TV channel and that was CNN - and then we lost that two days in. The wi-fi was down alot so we could not even watch netflix.
I would not recommend this hotel to my clients. I much preferred the Mercure up the road where we stayed a few years ago.

Dear Travel Agent,
Thank you for taking time to write a comment on TripAdvisor on our hotel.
We are glad to read that you made the most of our ideal location, near the city centre and directly by the sea.
We are disappointed though to read that some aspects of your stay were not as you expected. Our rooms are usually well appreciated for the comfort they offer. They have not the ultra modern style but our guests like the "french riviera spirit" they offer. About the smell you mentionned in the room, it has surprised us a lot as well. Our team is available 24/7 to make your stay relaxing and unique. Please, next time you are feeling such disappointment, feel free to ask the management to meet you. If we had known some things were not in keeping with your expectations, we would have reacted immediately. As a travel professional, you know how important this kind of feedback is. It is the key to the continuous improvement of the quality of service. The hotel has a small beach and, we agree with you, the 36 others are certainly offering bigger perspectives. Still, being located near the french capital/city centre and still offering the Caribbean Sea pristine waters just going out from the room is quite a luxury. We encourage all our clients to go and explore these amazing beaches around that have made the island's fame worldwide (Mullet Bay, Guana Bay, Ilet Pinel, Anse Marcel, Grand Case Bay, Plum Bay and Long Bay just to name a few...). About the taxes, it is clearly explained by the agent when booking your travel. We are sorry to hear that it was not clear to you when you came. Our breakfast is usually praised by our guests for its variety but your observation has been communicated to our team for them to keep on adding novelties. We see you met the birds. We always cover the food as the restaurant is opened to the sea, by the swimming pool so these curious animals always try their luck approaching the area. We do everything possible to keep them away but it is the particularity of the hotel, being totally opened with fresh air coming and the sound of waves. The hotel will be renovated soon and we look forward to introducing the new project to you, which, we are sure, will please you. We look forward to having you back and make you live the real Beach Experience. Please, feel free to follow our activity and stop by next time you are on the Friendly Island. Best Regards

April 2017 - My wife and her sister were duped into believing this was a four star hotel by their travel agent. They booked the hotel and flight as a combo offer from the charter airline.

We arrived at the hotel with the other 100 or so other guests. The hotel is right on the water with the tiniest of beach front. The beach is next to non existent and what little beach is there is pointless. Do not expect to spend any real quality time there. Full of rocks and rough waves with a cement jetty cutting the rocky beach front in half. Dont bother with the next to non existent pool either. Old and dilapidated with bulging vinyl pool liner and rotted out clay planters with sad palm plants. There are also no umbrellas to protect you from the sun. You should rent a car, take a taxi or the bus to one of the 36 or so other beaches around the island for your beach needs. Some of them are really nice (Mullet Bay, Waikiki Beach Resort (body surfing yeah!), Belmond La Somanna, Pinel, and others).

The room was spacious enough, but that was the highlight. The little fridge that came with the room was filled with a small chunk of ice that left a little pool of water at the bottom (ugh - imagining the bacteria build up), barely able to hold more than 3 little water bottles. The bathroom was equally as dismal. Mould all over the bathtub and tile area which made taking a shower distasteful and a toilet that burped loudly every 2 or 3 minutes that maintenance couldn't fix. My sister in law and mother in law reported similar issues in their rooms plus a few other interesting things that I wont bore you with.

Although they indicated that there was free wireless, it was mostly slow (very!) and we often got kicked off due to overloading by other users.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the gist. On the upside the included morning breakfast was decent. The staff was cheerful, very polite and very helpful, speaking both French and English. They are the ones that made the difference. Le Beach management should be grateful for their staff, which is the only thing they have going for them - as the hotel in real need on some tender loving and immediate attention (some of the cement balconies are rotted/cracked so badly that they have wood joists underneath to add support).

Word of note: The onsite car rental is very convenient but very expensive. Check around for deals before you leave.

Room Tip: Be sure you dont book a room over the night club (242 or the room on the floor below)

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for taking time to write a review on your recent stay at Le Beach.
Your observations are key to our constant improvement policy. We are sorry though to read that some aspects have not been in keeping with your expectations.
Saint-Martin has 37 beaches to discover and explore...and we always advise our guests to go outside and visit this beautiful island. Le Beach has the advantage to have a private little beach whilst being within walking distance from the frend capital, Marigot and the connection to other islands. The sea is usually very calm in front of the hotel but the weather can slightly change this sometimes. It is not the state-of-the-art hotel but offers the french riviera spirit, comfortable and clean rooms with view on the Caribbean sea or island hills with a relaxing ambiance. Our team is available 24/7 with the aim of making sure your needs are fulfilled and your stay is unique and unforgettable. Please, next time you are in a hotel, feel free to ask the management at the front desk. We are always eager to serve and help. This could have considerably changed your experience. If you are back on the island sometimes, we would be glad to meet you. Some renovations are planned in the future with a complete change of decor which, for sure, will please you. We look forward to having you back and make you live the real Beach Experience. Best Regards

Stayed April 8th to the 15th. Was a Red Tag Vacation package out of Toronto flying on Air Transit. Was a smaller hotel around 150 rooms located on the beach. The main area when you walk in was nice, with a bar, my room was also quite good, a little older but was fine. Apparently I had the scenic island view, but was the parking lot view. It was quite expensive for the ocean view and for the buffet breakfast. Charging 26 cad for breakfast was more than what i wanted to pay. I found a great place to have breakfast at the marina, which is very close, short walk or drive. Le Croissanterie, best croissants i ever tasted, everything I tried there was quite good, the owners were very nice, and at a reasonable price. The dining room wasn't open while I was there, so most evenings I ate out. The Lolo's in Grand Case are great, I ate there twice, the food was very good, bbq, and the price was good. Most of the staff were quite good, though a few weren't very friendly. Overall a very good holiday, i don't think i would stay here again, there are better options on the island.

Dear Darren,
Thank you very much for your comment on your recent stay at Le Beach.
We are glad you enjoyed our perfect location near the french capital - Marigot and discovered great places a few steps away from the hotel.
Our classic restaurant was closed when you were there but our bar serves delicious tapas and platters and our room service also offers a wide variety of dishes.... Saint-Martin is the culinary capital of the Caribbean so we encourage our clients to discover numerous restaurants around as well. We are preparing a few renovations with the aim of offering something unique and providing an unforgettable experience. We truly hope that we will have the opportunity to introduce all these changes to you. See you soon on the Friendly Island, Best Regards,

Was there 7 nights. Food was really good, room was always cleaned really well, overall staff were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. Beach was lovely and was very easy to walk to the marina and to the city to various restaurants, cafés and shops. About 30 min drive to airport. In terms of cash, I highly suggest bringing Euros instead of USD as most places in Marigot operate with Euros.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for writing a comment on TripAdvisor. We are glad to read that you spent an excellent vacation on the island and at our hotel. Your observations are essential to us and play a major part in the improvement of the quality of our services.
Euros and dollars are accepted and used equally on the island. it can be useful to have both currencies. The advantage of the dollar is that it can be used on both sides. Princess Juliana Airport is normally at a shorter driving distance from the hotel (10-15min) but in high season, the traffic can cause some delays. We hope to you to seeing you back very soon, best regards,

We stopped here (unplanned due to illness) for one night at the beginning of our adventures in St Maarten.

Our room had a sea view as was generally in good condition but it was directly above the restaurant and kitchen and so food smells were ever present.

The sliding doors to the balconies of the other rooms around us were noisy and so we were frequently disturbed by rumbling noises.

The staff were friendly, if a little indifferent and the breakfast buffet was well stocked and tasty but I can't say that we found anything special here.

Given the price we paid, there are much better value options in the area.
